Baby GIRL - a sister for Konrad

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted because I’ve been locked out but DH and I recently learned we’re having a baby GIRL! I’m over the moon, so excited! We have an almost-two-year-old son named [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]. We love that his name is strong, familiar and unique all at the same time. My husband’s only “style” is that he likes [name_m]German[/name_m] names (his name is [name_m]Klaus[/name_m]). So we are looking for names that are [name_m]German[/name_m] or have strong usage in Germany. Right now our front runners are [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. I’d love to get your opinions on how those sound with brother [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and any other suggestions you have!

 ~[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]

My favourite of yours is [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. There are many lovely [name_m]German[/name_m] names.

[name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and…

[name_f]Katarina[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Amalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f]
[name_f]Liese[/name_f]/[name_f]Liesel[/name_f]
[name_f]Gisella[/name_f] (GHEE-sul-luh)

I love [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Edda[/name_f] [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f]?

Out of yours I like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] the best.

I always thought [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] was beautiful.

Others:
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f]
[name_f]Frieda[/name_f]/[name_f]Frida[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]

I love [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].

My first thought was [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_f]Lena[/name_f].

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] sounds a bit soft after [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]. I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] goes well with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m].

[name_f]Frieda[/name_f]
[name_f]Gisela[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
Henrike
[name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Marlena[/name_f] / [name_f]Marlene[/name_f]
[name_f]Pia[/name_f]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sibylle[/name_f]
[name_f]Sonja[/name_f]
[name_f]Therese[/name_f]
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f]
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]

I didn’t realize that [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] was used very much in Deutschland.

Here is the top 500 for 2014:

Have you checked it out?

I think both [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] would work great with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m], though.

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]/[name_f]Klara[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Mina[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]/[name_f]Adela[/name_f]
[name_f]Geneva[/name_f]
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]

Thank you all so much! These are some great suggestions. My husband recently told me that he doesn’t really like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and he would mostly use the nn [name_u]Lou[/name_u] instead of the full name. I think [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is adorable and is the nn we had agreed on but the fact that he doesn’t like the full name really makes my heart sink :frowning: He likes [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] a lot more and while I like it fine, I just don’t feel like it’s spunky enough or something…also, it was the name of his parents dog who just died about a year ago. (he actually didn’t even really like the dog, so the name and the dog connection is not an emotional one) [name_m]Just[/name_m] when I thought we were gettting close, now I feel even further than we were.

Asking him about: [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Frieda[/name_f], [name_f]Liesel[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and definitely feel it’s vintage and spunky! Some friends of mine are super cool, borderline hipster people who named their daughter [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. It’s familiar yet not used very widely. It’s also sweet yet strong.

I also like the suggestions of [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. However, I honestly think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] has the most interest/spunk out of them all.

I feel you on feeling further away from picking a name. My husband vetoed ALL of the names I love. We have settled on a list of 7 names that we agree on but none of them are sticking out for me. I fear we will have to wait until she’s born to decide which makes me nervous that I’ll pick the wrong one.

[name_f]Alize[/name_f]
[name_f]Meryl[/name_f]
Raena or [name_f]Rhea[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Freida[/name_f]
[name_f]Frederika[/name_f]
[name_f]Gretta[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f])
Frejya
[name_f]Liesel[/name_f]
Liesabet
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]

I really love [name_f]Frieda[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] from your signature!

I really like [name_f]Frieda[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] from your signature, and I love the previous posters ideas of [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f], Frejya and [name_f]Rhea[/name_f].

My #1 favorite [name_m]German[/name_m] girl name is [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]. There is also:
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]/[name_f]Klara[/name_f]
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]

Firstly, congratulations. I adore [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]'s name and hope you find one that fits perfectly alongside it. Out of your names, I like them both, although [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] more. However, I don’t think [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] have the same feel that [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] does. They don’t feel as sturdy and strong as their potential brother.

Here are some off the most popular in Germany 2014 list - ones that I feel fit with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m], but some more than others:

[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Klara[/name_f] (too close to [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]? Too Kardashian? Maybe [name_f]Clara[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maja[/name_f]
[name_f]Alina[/name_f]
[name_f]Luisa[/name_f] (do you like this spelling? I don’t know why, but I think it works a lot better for some reason…)
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Mara[/name_f]
[name_f]Liesel[/name_f]
[name_f]Selina[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lara[/name_f]

My favourite from your list is [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] (taking into account what I said before, however I love [name_f]Luisa[/name_f] better with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]), but I also like the suggestions of [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Maja[/name_f], [name_f]Alina[/name_f], [name_f]Liesel[/name_f], [name_f]Selina[/name_f] and [name_f]Lara[/name_f].

Congratulations! My first thought was [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].

[name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonore[/name_f]
[name_f]Hilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]

First off, congrats!! Both names are very pretty, but I feel like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] goes better with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]. That’s not to say that [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] sounds bad though! To me, [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] sounds very sweet which makes [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] sound all the tougher. [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is the perfect balance between soft and feminine and strong. I was going to suggest [name_f]Alice[/name_f], but that may be confusing with your name :stuck_out_tongue: I also love [name_m]German[/name_m] names especially since we have a very distinctly [name_m]German[/name_m] last name. Some of my favorites are [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Frieda[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this help
