Baby Girl Arden Rose?

[name]Hi[/name] all, I have been reading Nameberry for a few years and just joined today. We are not finding out if we are having a boy or girl until the birth, so we are deciding on names for both. We have our boy name chosen for a long time. But our girl name is proving difficult for me. I originally suggested the name [name]Arden[/name] for a girl name to my husband and he loved it, and seems to have his heart set on it. I loved it too before I got pregnant and now that I am, I feel not as confident. I am not sure if its just the pregnancy hormones! The other name I suggested to him is [name]Ava[/name], which I know is super popular even in Australia where we live. We both do love that [name]Arden[/name] is not popular, but actually we have both never heard this name on anyone so its difficult to imagine. The other thing I am not sure on is a nickname for [name]Arden[/name]. I love that both names have references to birds.

Please help me out by sharing your comments and thoughts?

Thanks!

You could use the nickname [name]Ari[/name]! I think it’s super cute!

[name]Arden[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is lovely as for nn you could use [name]Ari[/name] like pp poster suggested also Denna/[name]Denny[/name], [name]Enna[/name], Arro

All I hear is garden rose.

[name]Arden[/name] is really cute, it makes me think of the word ardent, which means passionate. It’s beautiful and soft and interesting!

And there’s nothing wrong with the garden association, there are certainly worse words names could sound like.

And, correct me if I’m wrong, but in Australia it would be pronounced more like [name]Auden[/name], right? AW-den?

Thank you so much for all your comments so far. We would be pronouncing it AR-den. I have thought about the Garden association but not sure if it’s enough to put us off. The other middle name we have is [name]Grace[/name], but I like [name]Rose[/name] better.

We like the suggestion of the nickname [name]Ari[/name] which is cute.

I still like [name]Ava[/name] though but just worried about all the other [name]Ava[/name]'s she will come across.

I think [name]Arden[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is really pretty! [name]Love[/name] the nickname [name]Ari[/name]!

[name]Ava[/name] is gorgeous but its also super popular- depends how much that bothers you I guess. Personally I think [name]Arden[/name] is much more unique-

Some other ideas:

[name]Aviana[/name]
[name]Avery[/name]
[name]Avalon[/name]
Allora
[name]Eden[/name]

Goodluck!

I love [name]Arden[/name]-It is gorgeous. I wouldn’t bother having a nickname-one would just come naturally.

I think [name]Arden[/name] is lovely. It sounds so crisp and elegant. To me, [name]Ava[/name] is getting a bit tired.

Other names you might like: [name]Arcadia[/name], [name]Arya[/name], [name]Arbor[/name], [name]Aravis[/name], [name]Avis[/name]

Yep me too.

I love [name]Arden[/name] and the fact that it is more unique than [name]Ava[/name]. I wouldn’t worry about the garden association - how often will she use both names?

However, if you really like [name]Ava[/name], I would consider a name where [name]Ava[/name] could be a nn. That way, if she runs into too many [name]Ava[/name]'s, she could use her full name. [name]Avalon[/name] would be my first choice. But you could go with [name]Avery[/name] as well.

Thank you to all who left comments, it has mad me feel more confident with [name]Arden[/name] but now I am just questioning the middle name.

Does anyone have any other ideas on middle names for [name]Arden[/name]? I think I like classic names that are 1 or 3 syllables. e.g.

[name]Arden[/name] [name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Arden[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]

What do you all think of two 2 syllable names? e.g. [name]Arden[/name] [name]Mabel[/name]. Our last name is 3 syllables.

Thanks!

I think [name]Arden[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is gorgeous! Garden never even crossed my mind until I read the comments.

What about [name]Arden[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] or [name]Arden[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]?

Thanks to everyone who replied. Still looking, but I appreciate the feedback, it helps when you don’t want to share the name with family members.
