Baby girl arriving in a week

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]

My baby is arriving in a week and we are still trying to decide on a name.

My little boy is [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. Last name begins with S, ends in ‘tone’!!!

Our list for firsts is:
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] ([name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_u]Nelly[/name_u])
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] ([name_u]Rae[/name_u] or Raelie)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] ([name_f]Lilah[/name_f])
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] ([name_f]Goldie[/name_f])
[name_f]Lola[/name_f] (although I think this is too popular)

[name_u]Stanley[/name_u] has remained [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] so far so although I’ve put in short names I’m not planning on using these from the start, they’re just options, maybe with the exception of [name_f]Nell[/name_f]/[name_u]Nelly[/name_u].

We haven’t even started on middle names yet.

What do you think fits the best with [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] and our last name? I am really struggling. Suggestions (especially for corresponding middle names) very welcome.

Thank you so much

From your list my fave is [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]/[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] are just adorable together. Second fave is [name_f]Delilah[/name_f].

All of the names on your list are beautiful! I’m sure you’ll have no trouble finding a great name for baby #2!
I personally would disregard [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. I can see why other people like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] but it has never been a name that i enjoyed much. As for [name_f]Lola[/name_f], I think that it is just a little too popular and also a bit too current to be in a sibset with [name_u]Stanley[/name_u], more of a timeless classic.

That leaves me with [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. For me, [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] seems a bit much when paired with [name_u]Stanley[/name_u]. It’s an absolutely gorgeous name, but it really doesn’t work in your sibset for me and doesn’t match well with [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] in my opinion, I also personally don’t like your suggested nicknames of [name_u]Rae[/name_u] and Raelie so much. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is lovely and pretty in a whimsical and cute kind of way, but my major problem with this name is that I don’t see it growing well. It’s absolutely perfect for a child, but I don’t think that it really works so well for an adult, particularly in a professional context. If this doesn’t bother you, than I think it matches really well in terms of style with [name_u]Stanley[/name_u], though I’m less sure about how it would pair with your surname. However, the name that overcomes all of these problems for me is [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is beautiful and elegant but also strong and slightly unexpected. It pairs really well with [name_u]Stanley[/name_u], as they both have a similar retro, cool kid vibe, and also they don’t share an ending sound, meaning that the two names flow into each other. From what I can tell, I think it would go well with your surname also. [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] would also grow well from child to adult, and the potetial nickname of [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is a beautiful one.

So, overall, [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is hands down the best of your options in my opinion, with [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] coming in very close behind. Good luck making your decision!

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (though it is off limits to me as my sister has had dibs on this name for years) it just doesn’t quite fit with your last name or [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] for some reason. I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] goes best with [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] and with your last name!

Suggestions for middles for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] would be to go with something a little simpler.

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] S(tone)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] S(tone)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] S(tone)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] S(tone)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] S(tone)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] S(tone)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] S(tone)

I like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f].

My favorite is [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] seems to be the best choice for you. I love @charlottechar’s suggestion of [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]!

These are all fabulous choices, so you can’t go wrong. They all pair well with your son’s name, so that wouldn’t be a deciding factor for me. My personal fav is [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], followed closely by [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f].

Thank you so much everyone.

Looks like the consensus is [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] followed by [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. I think I agree when I look at the sibset and our last name but I really do love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] too.

I really appreciate all your comments. Some points here I hadn’t thought of as well which really helps.

My favorites overall and with [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] are [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] & [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].
