Baby girl coming soon thoughts on name

[name_f]Evening[/name_f] all,I’m due in a couple of months I’m having a baby girl. I am thinking of naming her [name_u]Storm[/name_u]. [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

[name_u]Storm[/name_u] because I love storms, tropical weather and thunder storms and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as that was my grandmothers name. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is not sure on how it will age on her and how she will go through school with it. But despite that he loves the name.

We are both in mid 30’s and not planning on anymore children so we want her name to be really special as she will be to us.(Don’t worry she has plenty of cousins and family friends kids so she won’t be lonely as I know many people have concerns about being an “only child”

What does everyone think?

I’m not a huge fan of just [name_u]Storm[/name_u] for a girl. It feels masculine to me. Maybe [name_f]Stormi[/name_f] or [name_f]Stormee[/name_f] to help it feel more feminine? I know that name “[name_f]Stormi[/name_f]” is probably gaining popularity with [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] [name_m]Jenner[/name_m] naming her baby that. But I love that you’re putting so much thought into it! Congratulations!!!

I love [name_u]Storm[/name_u] and I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f] but I’m not loving them together. The two names just don’t flow for me.

Maybe using a variation of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to honor your grandma would help.
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosamond[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosina[/name_f]

Firstly, welcome to Nameberry!
I’m honestly not sure how I feel about [name_u]Storm[/name_u]. I like it but I also can’t see it on a child. I like the idea of [name_u]Storm[/name_u] as a first and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a middle; [name_u]Storm[/name_u]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] feels like a bit too much.
If you just want [name_u]Storm[/name_u] for the meaning, how about [name_f]Rayne[/name_f] or another spelling of [name_u]Rain[/name_u]? It feels much more approachable than [name_u]Storm[/name_u], although it doesn’t go with [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

Storm-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] doesn’t flow for me. I would make [name_f]Rose[/name_f] a middle name or make it [name_f]Stormi[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f].

Yes I am going to sound selfish now🤣 but I wish [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] had never names her daughter that as I fear the name will be in comparison:(. Thank you so much!!

Yes [name_f]Rose[/name_f] would be her middle name not a double barrelled name!! Thanks for you help :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m really torn. I think you put a great combo together HOWEVER my next thought was of the infamous porn star [name_f]Stormi[/name_f] [name_m]Daniels[/name_m].

That’s a good point :frowning:!!

I like [name_u]Storm[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but not together. I even went to high school w a girl name [name_u]Storm[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Too nature-y imo. If it was i.e.: [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_u]Rey[/name_u](just an example), it would be fine.

Storm [name_f]Rosabelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosanne[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f](I like this bc it means first rose)
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosanne[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-[name_u]Marie[/name_u]/Rosemarie
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_u]Briar[/name_u]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f]

I love it! It’s beautiful! Congratulations! I also think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is a good middle name for [name_u]Storm[/name_u]. If you want to use [name_u]Storm[/name_u] as a middle name, [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] could be a beautiful first name. And I love the name [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! It is a beautiful middle name for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Here are some other names I thought of:
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Flame[/name_u]
[name_f]Windy[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] Geneviève
[name_u]Tempest[/name_u] [name_f]Hurricane[/name_f]
[name_u]Blaze[/name_u] [name_f]Tornado[/name_f]

I agree with others that [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a little wordy together. It sounds a bit like a perfume scent imo! I also think the flow is a bit choppy.

I absolutely adore the name [name_u]Storm[/name_u] though! I much prefer it to [name_f]Stormy[/name_f], which honestly feels dated to me. It makes me think of [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_u]Reid[/name_u], not any of the recent famous [name_f]Stormi[/name_f]/Stormys in the media.

I went to primary school with a girl named [name_u]Storm[/name_u]. I can’t remember if I liked it then or not, but it did stand out. Granted this was also the early 2000s when word names were less popular, and she had a sister with an extremely unusual name, so I think it was more the combo of those two names that made them stand out. I think I thought [name_u]Storm[/name_u] was a cool but unusual name? It definitely has a sort of rock and roll vibe (like a little edgy, but in a good way) to me, but that might just be because of that association. This is all anecdotal, so it doesn’t matter much, but more than remembering what I thought of the name I remember that she was a nice girl. I guess that’s what you’d want, to remember the person more than the thought of her name.

My hesitation with [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], more than being two noun names, is that it’s two single syllable names in a row. I think if you mixed it up a little it would flow better. If you don’t mind a little variation on the honor name, maybe [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]? There’s also [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rhoswen[/name_f] etc.

I do like [name_u]Storm[/name_u] more than [name_f]Stormy[/name_f]. I think if you both love [name_u]Storm[/name_u] then you should go for it! However, if you don’t feel it’s the one, here are some more weathery options: [name_u]Cirrus[/name_u] (like the cloud–I’ve heard of one other person with this name), [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] (meaning west wind), [name_f]Audra[/name_f] (meaning “storm”), [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] (“thunder”), [name_u]Astor[/name_u] (“thunder god”), [name_u]Niall[/name_u] (“[name_u]Cloud[/name_u]”), [name_f]Auretta[/name_f] (“light wind”), or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] (“rainbow”).

I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_u]Storm[/name_u] is one of my biggest guilty pleasure names!
Unfortunately, I don’t think [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] has the best flow. I love many of the previous names suggested as alternatives to [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

Storm [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f](a)
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] Rosabeth
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Roxanna[/name_f]/e
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] Annarose
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] Rosaura
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalba[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_u]Rosario[/name_u]/a
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Roisin[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosabella[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Rosmerta[/name_f]

I grew up with a girl named [name_u]Storm[/name_u] and her last name was a colour. So whenever a substitute teacher came in they would say ____colour___storm. Everyone would laugh, so I would caution against storm if your last name is a noun too.

I really like that the names have meaning to you. [name_f]My[/name_f] immediate reaction is to flip it to [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]Storm[/name_u]. That way you honour your grandmother and still get to use your edgy punk rock name.

I would not pair [name_u]Storm[/name_u] with the middle names [name_f]Danica[/name_f] or [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] to avoid that unfortunate association.

I actually think [name_u]Storm[/name_u] has a nice vibe and sound. I would pair it with a less wordy, more feminine middle. [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_u]Maria[/name_u]
