Need help again with naming our baby girl. I am now considering the name [name]Alia[/name] (ah lee ah) nn [name]Ali[/name]. My mind is burnt out from obsessively looking at thousands of names so I’m not sure what sounds good anymore.
Does [name]Alia[/name] sound more like a nickname?
My current top names are:
[name]Alaina[/name]/[name]Elaina[/name]
[name]Irina[/name]
[name]Karina[/name]
[name]Amira[/name]
[name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Sonya[/name]/[name]Sonia[/name]
Any thoughts? Should [name]Alia[/name] make the cut or be thrown out?
[name]Alaina[/name]/[name]Elaina[/name] - I think this is beautiful and gives you the nn’s [name]Ali[/name] and [name]Laina[/name] or [name]Ellie[/name] and [name]Laina[/name]. Means “bright shining one which I think is lovely” and goes very well with [name]Gianna[/name].
[name]Irina[/name] - I also think this is lovely and means peace Would also fit well with [name]Gianna[/name]
[name]Karina[/name] - I like this better spelt [name]Carina[/name] which is the Italian and would go better with [name]Gianna[/name] in my opinion. Sweet name meaning dear little one.
[name]Amira[/name] - to me, nice as this is, it just doesn’t go with [name]Gianna[/name]
[name]Isabella[/name] (not sure if this is too common to mesh well with [name]Gianna[/name]) - I’d stay away, it’s way to common. Other belle/bella names you may like are [name]Mirabelle[/name]/a, [name]Annabelle[/name]/a, [name]Amabel[/name], [name]Arabella[/name]?
[name]Sonya[/name]/[name]Sonia[/name] - I quite like this, probably spelt [name]Sonia[/name] since it seems more correct. It’s a version of [name]Sophia[/name], which I didn’t know! But much less common which is a plus!
[name]Alia[/name] - this is ok but there are so many versions of this name around right now. I’ve come across [name]Alia[/name], [name]Aliah[/name], [name]Aaliyah[/name], Aaleigha, [name]Aalia[/name], [name]Aaliya[/name] etc etc! I think some of your other names are much prettier!
My top choices in order would be:
[name]Gianna[/name] and [name]Alaina[/name] nn [name]Ali[/name]
[name]Gianna[/name] and [name]Carina[/name]
[name]Gianna[/name] and [name]Irina[/name]
[name]Gianna[/name] and [name]Sonia[/name]
I would also recommend [name]Gianna[/name] and [name]Amabel[/name] or [name]Gianna[/name] and [name]Arabelle[/name].
[name]Alia[/name] is lovely, and not too plain at all! I actually think it goes best with [name]Gianna[/name] out of your choices.
[name]Alaina[/name]/[name]Elaina[/name]: [name]Both[/name] are made-up spellings-- [name]Elena[/name] is the original one. I like it, but I’m not sure about the -na endings shared with [name]Gianna[/name]-- it seems kind of matchy.
[name]Irina[/name]: I really like the name, but again with the endings…
[name]Karina[/name]: Same as [name]Irina[/name]…
[name]Amira[/name]: I much prefer [name]Mira[/name], which is gorgeous.
[name]Isabella[/name]: It’s [name]WAY[/name] too popular for me…
[name]Sonia[/name]/[name]Sonya[/name]: Pretty, but not my favorite. Same problem as the others with the endings.
Thanks to all who have replied! It’s been so helpful. I’ve narrowed my list to the following:
[name]Alaina[/name]/[name]Elaina[/name]
[name]Irina[/name]
[name]Karina[/name]
[name]Sonya[/name]/[name]Sonia[/name]
Down to 4 names from thousands so thanks again for your help!!! Any additional input would be appreciated as I’m still open to considering other names.
[name]Alaina[/name]/[name]Elaina[/name] -I prefer the spelling [name]Elena[/name]. A very beautiful name, but it also has the same NA ending as [name]Gianna[/name], which could be a problem if you pay attention to those details that start patterns! (But I don’t mind it at all, didn’t notice it until reading the other posts!)
[name]Irina[/name] -Same as [name]Elena[/name].
[name]Karina[/name]-Same ending as [name]Elena[/name], I like this with [name]Gianna[/name] alot!
[name]Sonya[/name]/[name]Sonia[/name]-Personally one of my favorite names, a beautiful choice.
