Baby girl due in 3 months

My wife is pregnant with a baby girl, due in the middle of [name_u]November[/name_u]. We’ve got a few names we really like that I would like opinions on, and maybe also middle name suggestions? These are the names we really like;

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]

My favourites are [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f], my wife loves [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] best.

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] - Very underrated in my opinion, it’s a gorgeous yet uncommon name that’s relatively easy to spell and pronounce! One of my favorites on this list.
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] - Not my personal style but it has a lovely earthy feel. I like the idea of nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] - It’s pretty but comes across as a little stuck up? Not a problem if your daughter is nice though lol, plus I like the nickname [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] which I think makes it feel more down to earth
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] - One of my other favorites on your list, another underrated name that’s easy to spell and pronounce! I think it could also be a good middle for many of the other names listed.
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] - I think I like this a bit more than [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] but I’m not sure what you’d nickname her (not that you have to, three syllables isn’t that many)
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] - These are all very nice! I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] in particular could be good middles for some of the other names on your list. [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] is pretty, I also really like [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], maybe you will too?
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] - It’s a pretty name, I like nicknames [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f], but it is a LOT more common than most of the names on your list if that bothers you. That said, the actual percentage of babies named [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is really small, they have that date on the SSA website if you want to look at actual numbers
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] - Very pretty, another of my favorites from your list. I think it could be a good middle for some of the other names on your list. As a first I like the nicknames [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and the less common [name_f]Flossie[/name_f], which I think is really sweet!

Overall, I’m really impressed with your list and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these names! Most of them are pretty uncommon and yet well-known as names which is a great balance to strike. Best of luck choosing!

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] list!

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] - light yet grand -a lovely name! I love the possibility of the nicknames [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] too
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f], Olynpia [name_f]Willow[/name_f]

[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] -soft, quirky and mystical!
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Holly[/name_f]

[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] - sharp, vintage and pretty! [name_f]Liv[/name_f] or [name_f]Lana[/name_f] would make cute nn!
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]

[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] -not my fave on your list but it does has a sweet, fresh kind of elegance
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Anouk[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] -straight forward and simple but less expected as a first name
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Eliora[/name_f]

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] - distinct with a bit of kick and flair.
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Nadine[/name_f]

[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] -sleek, smooth and pretty.
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]

Maybe i suggest [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] too?

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] -[name_f]Lovely[/name_f], lively, bubbly and fashionable feeling
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Lara[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] -love it!! Such a vintage name, full of elegance and grandeur but also down to earth and serious, pretty but not too fussy
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Iona[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]

Daphne - quirky but grounded, i like it!
Daphne Evangeline, Daphne Josette, Daphne Luella, Daphne Anneliese

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] - I don’t know what I think about this one. The first time I heard it I really didn’t like it at all, but I can see something endearing about her now. It’s not one I’d use, but it’s okay. Have you considered [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]?

[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] - Pretty, although I’d personally prefer just [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].

[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] - I’m not a fan of this, it just doesn’t have any appeal to me at all.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] - I’ve never liked [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t know why, I just don’t.

[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] - This is sweet! I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]!

[name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] - [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] is very pretty, as is just [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] does nothing for me I’m afraid,

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] - I’ve never liked [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] but lately she’s grown on me. She has an exotic feel about her.

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] - This gives me the same vibe as [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], but I’m still not so keen. It’s just not my style.

Congratulations

I love …
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]

I like …
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] (for a middle)
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]

I dislike …
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]

What about …
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (my fav)
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]

Also, may I suggest my great grandmothers name [name_f]Rosina[/name_f]. Or my great Aunts name [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f].

I can picture sisters [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] & [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]

A great list of names so I can see why you’re having trouble narrowing it down and agreeing! Out of your favorites, I like [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] best. I also love [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. The others are okay - just not my taste.

[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]- Not my personal favorite, but your second favorite made me think of [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]- [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. I’d probably favor the nickname “[name_f]Ro[/name_f]”, personally. I think you could pair [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] with many names, probably starting with a consonant.
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]- This name seems so strong, grounded. MNs [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] seem to balance the FN with a little lightness.
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]- Also strong, but lovable. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]…
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]- I love lavender itself, but I’ve never liked it as a name much. Maybe as a middle name.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]- I favor [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] as a FN. I think you could pair it with many MNs.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]- Quirky and fun. I think a more traditional MN would balance it out…[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]…
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]- [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like the nickname [name_f]Flo[/name_f], but [name_f]Florence[/name_f] itself is beautiful. No specific MN pairings come to mind.

Congratulations on your baby girl! I really think all the names on your list are great choices. I see that [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] is having a hard time on here but it’s only your opinion that matters. Names don’t have inherent personality traits or “goodness” anyhow.

If popularity is a factor, [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] are considerably more popular than the others on your list. They tend to fall in the top 100. If nicknames are important or unwanted, that could also help narrow down the list further. Though it sounds like you might have a top 4 with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f], [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. Perhaps focusing on each other’s two favourites could help them grow on both of you. Alternatively, you could exclude your top 4 and choose from the remaining list.

For middle names, I’ve always been drawn to honouring family members and loved ones. This can be using variants of their names, their initials, or other things that remind you of the person. I find this adds a lot of meaning to the name choice, passes on the legacy and if you plan on having other children you can take turns honouring from each side of the family.

All the best choosing a name you both love!

I really like:

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] (or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f])
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] would be amazing.

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is my personal favourite of the bunch – unusual as a name, can feel both spunky & modern or gently vintage depending on the names it’s listed with (ie. [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] & [name_f]Freya[/name_f] / [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] & [name_f]Iris[/name_f]) yet somewhat familiar and straight-forward for the most part in regard to pronunciation and spelling. It also fits with the many -ia ending names out there (ie. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f]…)

My second choice from your list would be [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], for similar reasons as above. I also adore the nickname potential for Vini.

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]! The nickname options are great too, I particularly love [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] are lovely. I wouldn’t use [name_f]Florence[/name_f] as it’s very popular in the UK right now.

I dislike [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavender[/name_f].

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] would be stunning, as well as [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f].

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is simple but perfect!

I love [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] too! [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u] would be super cute.
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] is beautiful I just can’t imagine calling it out in the playground feels too long or something. Lavi is cute though.
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] sounds really lovely together.

Congratulations and good luck with your choices xx

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]: A massive name to carry, it’s hard for me to imagine a wide variety of women carrying that name, due to the association of [name_m]Olympus[/name_m]. Also, I’m not usually a fan of “O” names, they sound heavy to me.

[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]: [name_u]Love[/name_u], love, love this name! It’s a more elegant and sassy variation to [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. And if the name is too feminine for the bearer, she can use the spunky nickname “[name_f]Ro[/name_f]”.

[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]: I’m indifferent to this name, it’s a little obscure and unheard of to me that I have no associations and I don’t know what to make of it. It is pretty, though.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]: I have a negative association of this name, so I can’t give a fair opinion.

[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]: Another name I love! I’m very partial to flower names, they’re elegant, yet strong. The only problem with this name is that it’s long with no plausible nicknames. But, my name’s [name_f]Emily[/name_f], the same amount of syllables and I never let people shorten it. So, personal preference.

[name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]: I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names, they are elegant because of the association and strong because of the strong “r” and long “o” sounds. My favorite is [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]: A good, solid name that’s not too popular and still unforgettable. The nickname “[name_u]Penny[/name_u]” is dated, in my opinion and I don’t foresee it coming back.

[name_f]Florence[/name_f]: I’ve never liked this name. It’s too stiff and stuffy and feels more middle name material for me.

As for middle names, I’m a massive fan of using honor names.

A few mixed opinions, but that makes sense. We know a few of them are pretty popular, but that’s not a really big thing for us, and they’re not in the top 20 or anything.

As for nicknames, we were thinking [name_f]Nell[/name_f] for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] for [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]. I know it’s not that intuitive but a Lav/Lavy is a toilet where I’m from. I really dislike [name_f]Ro[/name_f] for [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] though, I’m sort of disappointed that so many of you mentioned it.

As for middle names, honour names are completely not an option for us. Using a name from one side of my family and not the other would cause big issues, and we haven’t heard from my in-laws since they all decided not to come to our wedding. But I agree if things were different it would’ve been nice.

[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] to least favorite

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]

I love your list! [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is my favorite. It’s sweet, whimsical and unexpected. [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] would also be lovely! For combos I like [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] or [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f].

I adore [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], my favourite from your list. I wouldn’t use [name_f]Ro[/name_f] for short either - I like Wenna and Wen, and maybe Reny (Reeny) or [name_u]Romy[/name_u], for nns.

I also really like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. (I love [name_f]Polly[/name_f] for an [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] nn.) [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] are more quirky but I don’t mind them. I just don’t like [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]. I would avoid [name_f]Rose[/name_f] in the middle though, much as I love it for a first name, as it is ubiquitous.

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]

I love, love, love

[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is nice

My favorites are [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I do love [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], but might prefer it as a middle name.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
