Baby girl due in February

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! [name_u]Baby[/name_u] #2 is due in [name_f]February[/name_f] and is a girl. Her older brother’s name is [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m] “[name_u]Jay[/name_u]” [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] (family name- we had already decided to use it even before we were pregnant the first time!). Our last name rhymes with “[name_f]Hope[/name_f]”.

I’ve loved the name [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] for a long time- not exactly sure why! My husband is open to anything, but I’m starting to waver on [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] recently. I want a feminine name with meaning or significance, like her brother’s name. My husband likes longer names with good nickname potential. [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] is unisex, doesn’t have great meaning, and no great nicknames :grimacing:.

Other names we like:
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]

What names are we missing from our list? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
Ottillie

If you’ve liked [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] for a long time, and your husband is open to it, I would at least still keep it on your list. While [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] doesn’t have any obvious nicknames (I can only think of [name_f]Dee[/name_f], or Dar), your daughter could still get a nickname that is based on her personality as she grows.

I like all three of the other names, but her are some other suggestions:
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ([name_f]Tillie[/name_f], [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], [name_u]Mattie[/name_u])
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] ([name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f])
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] ([name_f]Flick[/name_f], [name_u]Fee[/name_u])
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Liz[/name_f], [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f])
[name_f]Patricia[/name_f] ([name_u]Pat[/name_u], [name_f]Patty[/name_f], [name_f]Trish[/name_f], [name_f]Trisha[/name_f])
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] ([name_f]Celia[/name_f])
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] ([name_u]Frankie[/name_u], [name_u]Fran[/name_u], [name_u]Frannie[/name_u])

Thank you both so much! I’m adding [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] to our list, two names that I hadn’t really considered before! ”

I love [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_u]Penny[/name_u] for short too is so adorable. I also love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] <3

I adore [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]! [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is beautiful as well. I like [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]! I see it as a female name only.

I think that [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] would be a nice name with [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m]. [name_u]Jay[/name_u] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] would be sweet. That said, I actually really like [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]!!

[name_m]Ah[/name_m] the [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] love warms my heart! Hah I can’t quite put my finger on why I like that name so much.

[name_u]Jay[/name_u] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is sweet ”. I have an aunt who passed away who’s name was [name_f]Margarita[/name_f], and a great-grandmother [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], so there’s a lot of family connection to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] I hadn’t thought of…thank you for the suggestion!

[name_u]Darcy[/name_u] is lovely (reminds me of the prima ballerina [name_u]Darcey[/name_u] Bussell, who is so beautiful and the absolute definition of feminine).

I like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], though I prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].

What about moving [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] to middle spot?

[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Selena[/name_f]

[name_u]Darcy[/name_u] is adorable, and more original than the other names being suggested, although many of them are lovely names. The lack of nickname doesn’t seem like an issue as it’s already a nicknamey sort of name with the -y ending. And she might pick up a nickname organically anyway. Or you could call her [name_f]Cece[/name_f] or [name_f]Didi[/name_f]? I vote for [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] - it’s sweet, different, has literary connections and a beautiful namesake, and although it’s technically unisex I doubt many modern boys are called [name_u]Darcy[/name_u].
