Baby girl due in June! Here is our list of a few favorites

[name]Hi[/name]! I am new to Nameberry… we are having a little girl (our first) in [name]June[/name]! We like names that aren’t too ‘out there’ but aren’t very popular. Please tell me what you think! These names are just some ideas… so I won’t be offended if you don’t like them (: Oh, our last name is Hicks, horrible I know…

[name]Serina[/name] [name]Elise[/name] Hicks
[name]Keira[/name] [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks
[name]Athena[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] Hicks
Callisa [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks
[name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks

Some other names we love but may be a little too unusual…
[name]Aspen[/name]
[name]Haven[/name]
[name]Raine[/name]
[name]Katya[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]

Thanks!

I think [name]Athena[/name] is very pretty, but I don’t like the name [name]Natalie[/name], I think [name]Athena[/name] [name]Emerie[/name] is lovely though.
I also like [name]Serina[/name], but spelt [name]Serena[/name], with either [name]Elise[/name], [name]Emerie[/name] or [name]Aspen[/name] as a middle name.

[name]Serina[/name] [name]Elise[/name] Hicks - this is very pretty, I agree the spelling [name]Serena[/name] will be less headaches.
[name]Keira[/name] [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks - this is perfectly nice.
[name]Athena[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] Hicks - [name]Athena[/name] is a bold choice, but I like it. [name]Athena[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] is OK, but there is a lot of na na there. [name]Athena[/name] [name]Elise[/name]?
Callisa [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks - do you mean [name]Callista[/name]/[name]Calista[/name]? Callisa just seems too out there to me. It is pretty I suppose.
[name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks - I like this! However the iss and icks together are mildly “hissy”…it works enough though.

I feel like [name]Serina[/name]/[name]Serena[/name] is the name here that strikes the best balance and has something from all the other names that you like…

[name]Aspen[/name] - yeah, with your last name, this sounds like hicks from [name]Aspen[/name]…shame…
[name]Haven[/name] - cool, could be alliteration that works with your last name EXCEPT, yeah, Hicks’ [name]Haven[/name] is too much meaning. This might be a cool middle though? [name]Athena[/name] [name]Haven[/name] Hicks is cool, initials AHH for better or worse
[name]Raine[/name] - perfectly fine for a middle. I think [name]Rain[/name] is a cleaner spelling, but it doesn’t even really matter in the middle. [name]Raina[/name] is a very pretty name, also spelled [name]Reina[/name], [name]Reyna[/name], etc, means queen in Spanish.
[name]Katya[/name] - I think you can pull this off, it’s not too weird. Might also be a very good nn for [name]Katherine[/name]. With your short last name, a long name like [name]Katherine[/name] is pretty cool
[name]Lucia[/name] - this is gorgeous and I don’t think it’s too weird at all.

Good luck!

These are the rankings of your names on the social security name list for 2010. [name]Athena[/name] is much higher than I expected, and [name]Aspen[/name] is much lower. I’m sure these vary a lot regionally, and I know [name]Aspen[/name] is fairly common in South [name]Dakota[/name] (If the name isn’t listed below, it wasn’t in the top 1000)

As you can see, [name]Clarissa[/name] and [name]Aspen[/name] really aren’t that far apart in popularity. I hope this list helps a little. As for my preference, I like [name]Keira[/name], [name]Katya[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] the best

[name]Aspen[/name], 598
[name]Haven[/name], 651
[name]Serena[/name], 454
[name]Lucia[/name], 265
[name]Clarissa[/name], 550
[name]Keira[/name], 166 (with [name]Kira[/name] at 308)
[name]Athena[/name], 360

I think you’ve got the familiar but not super common names down. I think all of these work with that criteria, though some are a little bit trendy and may sound dated in the future. Here are my thoughts:
[name]Serina[/name] [name]Elise[/name] Hicks- I think [name]Serena[/name] is a much better spelling. I don’t like [name]Serina[/name] at all, but [name]Serena[/name]'s okay. Still not my favorite name, but I don’t dislike it. I like [name]Elise[/name] in the middle.
[name]Keira[/name] [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks- I quite like [name]Keira[/name]. [name]Emerie[/name] is quite trendy- it sounds a lot like the megapopular names [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Emma[/name] and fits in with the from-the-boys [name]Emery[/name], [name]Emory[/name], [name]Ellery[/name], etc. I’d prefer a different name in the middle, but it’s not terrible.
[name]Athena[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] Hicks- This is definitely my favorite name on the list. [name]Athena[/name] is stunning, familiar, uncommon, historical, easy to say and spell- basically everything you could want in a name. [name]Natalie[/name] is quite sweet in the middle as well.
Callisa [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks- The only name on this list I just don’t like. Callisa seems like an 80’s name. Callisa seems like a classmate of [name]Melissa[/name], [name]Larissa[/name], and [name]Alyssa[/name] instead of [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Ava[/name].
[name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks- This I think is better than Callisa, but I still don’t like it.

[name]Aspen[/name]- I don’t like the sound, especially the first syllable.
[name]Haven[/name]- Too [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Alba[/name], and very recently invented, which I don’t care for.
[name]Raine[/name]- [name]Raina[/name] may be a more name-y alternative if you think [name]Raine[/name] is too out there but still like the sound. This is actually fairly common as a middle name, but not really as a first.
[name]Katya[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] I think are both very usable and lovely. I know several [name]Lucias[/name] (most pronounce it loo-CHEE-a, the Italian, but two use loo-SEE-a, the Spanish) and I met a little [name]Katya[/name] not too long ago.

Some more suggestions you may like:
[name]Raina[/name]
[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Alana[/name]
[name]Carys[/name]
[name]Leila[/name]
[name]Nina[/name]
[name]Celia[/name]
[name]Clio[/name]
[name]Sabina[/name]

Wow! Thank you guys… I wasnt expecting such detailed answers! I love all of your suggestions, especially about the names [name]Emerie[/name] and Callisa.

We LOVED the name [name]Callista[/name] but didn’t want people to familiarize her with [name]Callista[/name] Gingrich, so I thought Callisa was a unique spin off of [name]Callista[/name]. But now that you pointed it out, it sounds along the lines of [name]Alyssa[/name] [name]Larissa[/name] [name]Marissa[/name] etc…ugh.

[name]Emerie[/name] is a name my Mother loves… I personally think it sounds a little made up (kind of like the boys’ name [name]Emory[/name]) but it is tolerable as a middle name. When we found the name ‘[name]Serena[/name]/[name]Serina[/name]’ I saw that it had a few different meanings based on the spelling, [name]Serena[/name] is based off the word ‘serene’ and [name]Serina[/name] or [name]Sirena[/name] comes from the word for princess in Latin, not sure if that is correct because I haven’t looked into it too much.

Thanks so much!! We are narrowing our selections down… but [name]Athena[/name] is definately #1 right now! Luckily we have a little ways to go before she gets here.

[name]Serina[/name] [name]Elise[/name] Hicks - While [name]Serina[/name] IS a legit spelling, I strongly prefer [name]Serena[/name]. I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Serena[/name]. Totally absolutely [name]LOVE[/name]! Not sure about it with [name]Elise[/name] though. Maybe a little too much “e” going on.
[name]Keira[/name] [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks - I like it. Not a fan of [name]Emerie[/name] (if you use it I’d prefer [name]Emery[/name]).
[name]Athena[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] Hicks - [name]Athena[/name] is a very strong name. It’s nice but I’d never use it. [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Natalie[/name].
Callisa [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks - Callisa is just misspelled. I don’t like it. I strongly prefer [name]Callista[/name]. I don’t think people will really make that association… I know I don’t.
[name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks - I like it.

Some other names we love but may be a little too unusual…
[name]Aspen[/name] - Not bad. I wouldn’t use it but I don’t hate it.
[name]Haven[/name] - I don’t like the sound of it.
[name]Raine[/name] - Prefer it for a middle.
[name]Katya[/name] - I think it sounds ugly, sorry.
[name]Lucia[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like the sound of it. Prefer [name]Lucy[/name].

BTW I usually trust Behind The Name for meanings and here is what it says for [name]Serena[/name]/[name]Serina[/name]/[name]Sirena[/name]:

[name]SERENA[/name]
GENDER: Feminine
USAGE: English, Italian, Late [name]Roman[/name]
PRONOUNCED: sə-REEN-ə (English), se-RE-nah (Italian) [key]
Meaning & [name]History[/name]
From a Late Latin name which was derived from Latin serenus meaning “clear, tranquil, serene”. This name was borne by an obscure early saint. [name]Edmund[/name] [name]Spenser[/name] also used it in his poem ‘The Faerie Queene’ (1590).

[name]SERINA[/name]
GENDER: Feminine
USAGE: English
PRONOUNCED: sə-REEN-ə [key]
Meaning & [name]History[/name]
Variant of [name]SERENA[/name]

[name]Sirena[/name] was not found on BTH but NB says this:
[name]Sirena[/name]
Gender: F
Origin of [name]Sirena[/name]: Greek
Meaning of [name]Sirena[/name]: “entangler”
Sounds like [name]Serena[/name], but refers to the mythological sirens – half woman, half bird – who virtually sang men to death. Not a great role model for your little girl.

Another variation on BTH:
[name]SARINA[/name]
GENDER: Feminine
USAGE: English (Modern)
Meaning & [name]History[/name]
Meaning unknown, perhaps a diminutive of [name]SARA[/name] or a variant of [name]SERENA[/name].

As a combo, I like [name]Athena[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] the best. I don’t love either name separately, but I really like the combo together! I absolutely adore [name]Serena[/name] (this spelling) as well, and if it were [name]Serena[/name] [name]Elise[/name], that would have gotten my vote!

Good luck!

I really thought it was a spelling mistake when you wrote Callisa and would not recommend using it I think [name]Calista[/name] is a stunning name and you would be setting your child up for a lifetime of explaining her name and spelling it to all.

I like [name]Emery[/name] (this spelling) as a middle name. I don’t like the idea that spelling it with an ‘ie’ on the end feminises it.

An asp is a snake like the one that killed [name]Cleopatra[/name]. Now there is a good name [name]Cleo[/name]!

[name]Cleo[/name] [name]Athena[/name] Hicks or [name]Cleo[/name] [name]Raina[/name] Hicks

[name]Serina[/name] A beautiful name spelt as [name]Serena[/name]

[name]Elise[/name] is gorgeous - [name]Elise[/name] [name]Emery[/name] Hicks

[name]Keira[/name] [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks A pretty combo

[name]Athena[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] Hicks Not a fan of [name]Athena[/name] she is a bit [name]OTT[/name] (over the top)

Callisa [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks Only like [name]Calista[/name], suggest [name]Calista[/name] [name]Ione[/name] Hicks

[name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks A great combo very unusual choice I have not found anyone in years who named their baby [name]Clarissa[/name] and it is long overdue as it is a pretty, pretty name.

[name]Haven[/name] This works really well in some combos but [name]Haven[/name] Hicks does not work.

Suggest [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] Hicks or [name]Ella[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] Hicks

[name]Raine[/name] - [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks or [name]Raina[/name] [name]Arabelle[/name] Hicks

[name]Katya[/name] Prefer [name]Carina[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks

[name]Lucia[/name] Always popular and nn of [name]Lucy[/name] is very popular, [name]Lucia[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] Hicks

I like [name]Serina[/name] [name]Elise[/name], but prefer it spelled [name]Serena[/name].
I love the name [name]Keira[/name], and it flows very well with [name]Emerie[/name]
[name]Athena[/name]- I immediately think of the goddess, so I’m not crazy about it.
[name]Callista[/name]- HUGE fan. [name]Love[/name] the nn [name]Callie[/name]!
I like [name]Clarissa[/name], but I know 3 of them, so its to common for me!

I know a [name]Lucia[/name], a [name]Katya[/name] (love [name]Kat[/name] as a nn), and a [name]Raine[/name]. They are the sweetest little girls, and I love the names. I like [name]Aspen[/name], but [name]Haven[/name] is too out-there. The others are fine.

[name]Serina[/name] [name]Elise[/name] Hicks - [name]Love[/name] [name]Serena[/name] [name]Elise[/name] not keen on [name]Serina[/name] spelling
[name]Keira[/name] [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks - I haven’t come across [name]Emerie[/name] before, but i’m in [name]Scotland[/name], it appears a bit made up to me. I like the sound of the names together though.
[name]Athena[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] Hicks - [name]Love[/name] [name]Athena[/name] and it works nicely with [name]Natalie[/name], plus gives your daughter a ‘normal’ option if she doesn’t like it when she’s older (although how anyone could not like [name]Athena[/name] is beyond me).
Callisa [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks - probably my least favourite of your combo’s probably as both names look made up to me. Prefer [name]Calista[/name].
[name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks - [name]Love[/name] this combo, i probably wouldn’t have said i like [name]Clarissa[/name] but it is lovely with [name]Raine[/name] and your surname. My favourite on your list.

Some other names we love but may be a little too unusual…
[name]Aspen[/name] - Not for me
[name]Haven[/name] - Interesting, Never occured to me as a name but i think it’s quite lovely - I like [name]Haven[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] Hicks.
[name]Raine[/name] - I do like this, and definitely in the uncommon but not weird category
[name]Katya[/name] - More mainstream to be but that may because we have a LOT of eastern europeans in my town now.
[name]Lucia[/name] - Nice enough but i prefer your other options.

I think [name]Athena[/name] [name]Emerie[/name] is beautiful, [name]Haven[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks also sounds lovely!

[name]Serina[/name]? I prefer [name]Sirena[/name]. What do you think about that?
I like [name]Sirena[/name] [name]Katya[/name] Hicks.

Well congrats and I hope you find the name you are looking for on here. This is a great site for name generation no matter what your tastes are. Mine happen to be a bit unusal but some of the names that you have listed are on my list which I found kind of interesting since you say you don’t want way out there but anyway this is what I think. Oh and your last name is not too bad I have had worse. LOL!

[name]Serina[/name] [name]Elise[/name] Hicks–This one is nice but [name]Serina[/name] seems to me a bit exotic compaired to [name]Elise[/name]. I find exotic apealing but not sure how you may feel about it. [name]Elise[/name] is a little ordinary and plain to me. Sorry if it has a special meaning to you but I is too close to my name, [name]Lisa[/name], for me to like it.

[name]Keira[/name] [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks–Same feel as the one above. Except I am not really likeing the flow of this fn & mn combo but it is pretty. They are both 2 syllable names. Maybe try a 3+ syllable name in the middle and see what you think. I may be better with your 1 syllable last name.

[name]Athena[/name] [name]Natalie[/name] Hicks–This is also exotic with a splash of ancient mythology thrown into the mix. I absolutely love [name]Athena[/name] but my dh can’t stand mythological names. Darn!!! This fn is just gorgous but the middle is really really bad with it. I am so sorry but it is way way too plain jane and common for this beautiful name. Also this combo has a flow problem too. They are both 3 syllables maybe a 2 syllable mn would work better.

Callisa [name]Emerie[/name] Hicks–Now this combo has style and flow!! This has a 3-2-1 flow and it works perfectly plus the styles of the fn & mn go together. I don’t know if you have heard of or like [name]Calista[/name] but it is close to Callisa and looks a bit less made up. I do like it but I maybe partial cause I hated just plain [name]Lisa[/name] while growing up. I think this would have made for a better fn with the nn. [name]Lisa[/name] or something else like [name]Calli[/name] or [name]Calla[/name].

[name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Raine[/name] Hicks–Also wonderful flow but [name]Clarissa[/name] is a bit more old school than [name]Raine[/name] at the moment. So it is pretty just not sure the styles of names mesh well. Otherwise though if that does not bother you then this combo gets my stamp of approval.

[name]Aspen[/name]–This one I don’t see as unusal at all but it is a tree name and a place name. This one use to be on my mn list too till dh kicked it to the curb. LOL! Very pretty and I think I would be a great fn or mn but would go well in the combo [name]Serina[/name] [name]Aspen[/name] or [name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Aspen[/name].

[name]Haven[/name]–Yeah this one may be a bit out there but it is cute! It may get confused with [name]Heaven[/name] alot though too since there seems to be alot of [name]Heaven[/name]'s and [name]Nevaeh[/name]'s out there nowadays.

[name]Raine[/name]–This is a great nature name along with [name]Snow[/name], [name]Winter[/name], [name]Autumn[/name], [name]Skye[/name], [name]River[/name], [name]Dune[/name], and all those flower & tree names. It is a little more common though than some of the others I just listed.

[name]Katya[/name]–Oh Swoone!!! I looove Russian names!!! This one should so be used and [name]Katya[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] is so pretty but the AA ending thing does bother me but not so much with this combo of gorgous Russian names.

[name]Lucia[/name]–I have not quite understood the appeal of this name for other people but I guess cause you can get [name]Lucy[/name] out of it?? IDK. NMSAA! Well it is 3 syllables so go for a 2 or 4 syllable mn if you use it as a fn.

Personally lots of your names I would not really ever consider for myself other than [name]Athena[/name], [name]Katya[/name], & [name]Aspen[/name] but I already did and they were nixed so I hope someone else can use them because they are all three so pretty. We just have different taste in general and that is totally awsome! I do think that the style in general with out regard for the name itself should mesh well though and the syllable thing is a definate must to make the name just roll off the togue for anyone. It is just so pleasing to hear someone’s name that flows in my opinion but you can take the advice or leave it. It is your baby. Good luck in your name journey!!

I like [name]Lucia[/name], [name]Clarissa[/name], and [name]Athena[/name]
