Since I found out I was pregnant with baby #3 I have been really dreaming of a girl, as we have two boys, [name]Jacob[/name] [name]Robert[/name] and [name]Brody[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. Now we have found out it’s a girl, and I am thrilled. I really like the name [name]Esme[/name] and am thinking of [name]Esme[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Esme[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Esme[/name] [name]Olivia[/name], and [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Esme[/name]. My husband is not at all a fan of [name]Esme[/name], and prefers [name]Samantha[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]. Am I off base with [name]Esme[/name]? Also, my 20 -something friends say it will be constantly likened to the Twilight character (which I did not even know about!).
Help, what to do? Give up on [name]Esme[/name]?
I love [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Esme[/name]! And the upside is it won’t be likened to twilight as often because it’s a middle name.
I love [name]Esme[/name]! I think it’s great and sounds so magical and charming and feminine next to [name]Jacob[/name] and [name]Brody[/name] (both of which I love, btw!). I would love to meet an [name]Esme[/name], and I love [name]Esme[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] as a combo. If your husband really doesn’t like it, though, I think [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Esme[/name] would be a great compromise. You’d get to keep [name]Esme[/name], but I think [name]Charlotte[/name] sort of fits better with [name]Jacob[/name] and [name]Brody[/name], anyway. A bit more traditional, but still very feminine, and enough strength to stand up to two big brothers. I think both [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Esme[/name] are great, maybe ask why your husband dislikes it so much? Is it just Twilight? I think it’s utterly gorgeous, and there’s just something about [name]Brody[/name] and [name]Esme[/name] together. But if people are concerned with Twilight, there’s also a [name]Jacob[/name] in Twilight, so there might be more flack from that.
You obviously love it, so I’d hold onto it, see if it grows on him, try to convince him, but in the meanwhile, I would search for a name you both can love equally. Maybe he’ll let you keep it as a MN, or maybe he’ll grow to absolutely adore it.
Good luck!
If I met someone with a son named [name]Jacob[/name] and a daughter named [name]Esme[/name], I would assume they were named for Twilight. What about [name]Emme[/name] as an alternative to [name]Esme[/name]? If you have to use [name]Esme[/name], I would use it in the middle spot, although I’m not a fan of [name]Charlotte[/name] either.
If your husband doesn’t like it, then I think you should give it up, picking a name should be a compromise, you both should like the name
I had considered [name]Esme[/name] [name]Adora[/name] myself! [name]Esme[/name] is gorgeous, I’d fight for it since you’re obviously over the moon for it!
