Baby Girl Here and Can't decide name- HELP

Our daughter was born this morning and we need help with her name.
Her big sister is [name]Orla[/name]
Choices:

[name]Eloise[/name] (love it but afraid she would be “ellie” or "ella)

[name]Matilda[/name] (is this too much?)

[name]Louisa[/name]

mn will be [name]Amy[/name] after my grandmother

Thanks!!

[name]Eloise[/name]. The others would lead to some horrible initials: M.A. and L.A.

Ooooh, I love [name]Matilda[/name]! I don’t think it is too out there at all. I am actually hearing it more and more lately.

I love [name]Louisa[/name] in theory, but when I say it or hear it, all I hear is louWHEEEZa

[name]Eloise[/name] is nice, but awfully close to the [name]Ella[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name] phenomena. I love it as [name]Eloise[/name], but would also fear it being shortened to [name]Ellie[/name], in which case you lose the uniqueness/sparkle to the name.

My vote goes to [name]Matilda[/name]!

[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Amy[/name] has the best flow and I think it goes nicely with [name]Orla[/name]. I wouldn’t worry too much about the nickname [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Ella[/name] because you could always tell people what you are calling her. For example if you would rather people call her [name]Lou[/name] as a nickname (or no nickname!), you can just mention that is what you are calling her.

[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Amy[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Amy[/name] are very nice too and [name]Matilda[/name] is NOT too much! I think it’s very cute

My picks are: (in order)

  1. [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Amy[/name] (Olra and [name]Eloise[/name])
  2. [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Amy[/name] ([name]Orla[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name])
  3. [name]Louise[/name] [name]Amy[/name] ([name]Orla[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name])

Anything you choose will be beautiful! CONGRATS on your baby!!!

None of those names are my style, but in your own words, you [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]. I saw go for it. I wouldn’t worry too much about nn. I have niece named [name]Madison[/name] and no one (other than her mother from time to time ) calls her [name]Maddie[/name]. She learned her name as [name]Madison[/name] and that’s how she introduces herself. Now my other niece is named [name]Gabrielle[/name] and she was always called [name]Gaby[/name], learned her name as [name]Gaby[/name] and introduces herself as [name]Gaby[/name]. She certainly knows her name is [name]Gabrielle[/name], but unlike her sister only her mother refers to her by her full name from time to time. Like [name]Madison[/name], my sister [name]Natalie[/name] was always mainly called
by her full name. Within our family, we may have called her [name]Nati[/name] from time to time but, in school, and to strangers she was [name]Natalie[/name]. I think if you want her to be called [name]Eloise[/name]. Teach her her name as [name]Eloise[/name]. She will introduce herself as [name]Eloise[/name] and that will be that.

Usually i would go for matilda but with your case i honestly and truly think [name]Eloise[/name] sounds more flowing with [name]Orla[/name] , they could be Elo and [name]Orla[/name] (or many other cute nn for [name]Eloise[/name]). [name]Hope[/name] it helps and keep us posted on what you choose! (:

Congrats! I love [name]Eloise[/name]. We have an [name]Eleanor[/name] who has no nn. People don’t shorten it to [name]Ella[/name] or [name]Ellie[/name]. She’s only three but I think she would correct them if they did! Your other choices are great too, but I say go with [name]Eloise[/name]!

I love all three- [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], and [name]Louisa[/name]! I think [name]Orla[/name] goes well with any of them, honestly. I’d probably pick [name]Eloise[/name] to break up the endings. If you just remind people that her name is NOT [name]Ellie[/name], they’ll understand. All choices are gorgeous.

[name]Hi[/name]! With [name]Orla[/name], I love [name]Matilda[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name]!

i always hated the nicknames for my name, yet people constantly shortened it casually after getting to know me better. a good way around having an [name]Eloise[/name] who ISN’T shortened to elle or ella is to give her a nickname you like better, then if people want to shorten it, they will use that.
[name]Louie[/name] is a very cute nickname or else Lo?
i like [name]Eloise[/name] best of the names you have. she is graceful, sweet but also has dignity for an adult name. the strong ‘lo’ sound in the middle of the name is so pretty.
[name]Louisa[/name] on the other hand, is very very common amongst the rougher people around where i live. so that puts me off it a bit. i think it is less unusual and refined than [name]Eloise[/name].
I like [name]Matilda[/name] a lot too, but with [name]Orla[/name] i think another soft vowel name works perfectly. They suit each other so well!
so [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name] would be my favourites, with [name]Eloise[/name] a clear front runner alongside your [name]Orla[/name]. tell us all what you decide or if you have any more qualms. oh, and [name]Amy[/name] is a lovely classic middle name!

While I think all three are great names, I like [name]Matilda[/name] best with [name]Orla[/name]. Especially with the nickname [name]Tilly[/name]. I can completely picture [name]Orla[/name] and [name]Tilly[/name] as sisters.

Thanks for all the advice!

After much deliberation we decided on [name]Matilda[/name]!

[name]Orla[/name] can already say “[name]Tilly[/name]” which is pretty cute.

Thanks again!

Honestly, I love all of them, but [name]Matilda[/name] is my favorite! Although, with the mn [name]Amy[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Amy[/name] sounds the best.

So glad you came to a decision. As many said, all three of your names were great, so you could hardly have gone wrong, but [name]Orla[/name] and [name]Tilly[/name] are absolutely lovely together. Congratulations!

[name]Orla[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] “[name]Tilly[/name]” is a really lovely pair-- congratulations on the baby and on deciding

i was thinking about this and wishing I had picked [name]Matilda[/name]! It’s a great decision, [name]Orla[/name] and [name]Tilly[/name] is so cute.

Yay! I love [name]Matilda[/name] with [name]Orla[/name]! Best of luck to you all!
