i just wanted to say a quick thank you to all the berries that put up with my incessant polls and questions to find the perfect name!
On [name_u]June[/name_u] 1st at 12:06am, our little girl entered the world weighing 6lbs 12 oz!
Our naming experience was much different this time around. With her older brother, we went in with a full name picked out. This time we only had a first name, with two middle names to choose. My family has a tradition of giving one ‘regular’ middle name and one Hawaiian. I felt a lot of pressure to choose a name right after having her, before announcing anything on social media. And with friends and family all alerted that she was born, we felt like if we didn’t choose a name soon, someone else would post about her birth before we got to. This was very difficult as I was obviously exhausted after giving birth and my brain was shot.
In the end we decided to name her [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] 'Auli’i (pronounced ow-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-ee), who joins big brother [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] Ka’ehukai. Other middle name options we had were [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. But she just looked like an [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is a name on my family tree, and I also sang ‘Sweet [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]’ to her in the womb.
As for her Hawaiian name, my aunt helped pick it out, as she does with all the babies in the family. We did it the ‘traditional’ way this time by waiting until she was born to pick something that fit her. In Hawaiian, 'Auli’i means ‘dainty’ Which perfectly matches her sweet little personality.
Naming a baby is hard work! But thank you to all those who helped!!
