Which name SOUNDS best: Savannah or Faith? (Meaning aside) We love both. Our baby is 2.5 months old, we named her Faith, but originally Faith was supposed to be her middle name. We were confused in the hospital and went with Faith (bc we were unsure about Savannah at the time). We have been thinking about changing her name to Savannah, as it sounds pretty. Should we keep Faith or change it to Savannah? The “th” sound of Faith bothers me at times when certain people don’t pronounce it correctly and it gets drowned out and sounds like “Fay”. We gave ourselves until her 3 Month Bday (which is almost here) to decide and make it final. We have been calling her both at different times. Please help. Thank you!
This is tough, because [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Faith[/name_f] are both wonderful names but they have lots of differences. Three syllables vs one, nicknames like Sav, [name_f]Savvy[/name_f], or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] for [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], or Fay/Fae for [name_f]Faith[/name_f], which you don’t seem to like, but maybe you want to avoid nicknames altogether. I would probably choose [name_f]Faith[/name_f] over [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] if I was naming a daughter, but both are great! [name_f]Faith[/name_f] has obviously been a favorite for a while since it would have been used either as a first or middle name. But [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] was always an option, and if you can’t let go of it, it sounds like it should be her name. Is there one name that makes you a little happier to say? One that you use more in a positive setting (when smiling at her, introducing her to others)? Which one works best with her last name? If you changed it from [name_f]Faith[/name_f] to [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], would you keep her current middle or change it to [name_f]Faith[/name_f]?
I like [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]! I hope you find a peaceful conclusion either way
Seconding this:
Both are lovely names, & sound beautiful together! You’d also have the option to address her with her full name sometimes, since “Savannah Faith” flows so nicely as a unit.
You could keep her current middle, and just add Savannah to her legal name: Savannah Faith [middle] [surname].
Congrats on your little one, & best wishes!
Oh gosh bless your hearts it’s tricky having that pressure on your shoulders in relation to such a huge decision. I’m wishing you all the best and I’m sure whatever decision you make will be the right one
I would personally choose [name_f]Faith[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Faith[/name_f] she’s a favourite of mine she’s just so beautiful, feels timeless, warm and has wonderful associations with the actual concept of faith which makes me smile. I truly love [name_f]Faith[/name_f] and I just think she’s very appealing, will age well and has an attractive sound. I would go [name_f]Faith[/name_f] [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] being in the middle name slot feels unexpected in comparison to [name_f]Faith[/name_f] in the middle name slot. Very pretty choice. However [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f] is also lovely so whichever name you choose will be pretty.
Sounds like you like [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] best, and since you’ve been calling her both, dislike how people say [name_f]Faith[/name_f] and have been considering changing it since you used it, I’d say it change it.
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] is sassy, lovely and charming
Both [name_f]Faith[/name_f] [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f] work so it really is up to you!
People will mispronounce [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] too just keep that in mind.
I think [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f] is best.
I think it sounds like your heart is set on [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], and I think you should go with what your heart is telling you! They’re both gorgeous names and you can’t go wrong either way! [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f] is a beautiful full name, and it gives her the option to go by either name later in life, so I think it’s a win-win combo.
Well done on having your daughter. I would stick with [name_f]Faith[/name_f] unless you feel you know for sure [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] is what you love and really wanted (rather than just sounding pretty). [name_f]Faith[/name_f] is more timeless. Most important though is that you try not agonise over the name and focus on enjoying your baby as much as possible. Best wishes.
You seem very set on [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] so I would change it to [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f].
I would just change [name_f]Faith[/name_f] to her middle name as we planned originally. Thx!!!
Thank you! What about combining and doing: Savannah-Faith or SavannahFaith?
Makes total sense. Thank you.
So true…thank you so much!
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] sounds lovely, to me. I’ve never been a big fan of [name_f]Faith[/name_f], so this opinion is a bit biased. Sound wise, when I was considering [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], I realized names ending in -th aren’t a sound I really like, including [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Judith[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] (no hate to any of these names, if someone loves them!)
I think it would work better to keep them separate, as [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] is already fairly long, so it doesn’t lend itself to hyphenation (plus combining them without a hyphen looks a tad awkward).
I was more intending to refer to the way some parents will occasionally address their child by using the full first name + middle name (e.g. “Good morning, [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] Rose!” etc.), rather than actually officially combining the two names.
Whether you end up choosing [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Faith[/name_f] [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], or [name_f]Faith[/name_f] + other middle, you’ll still have lots of great options for nicknames!
[name_f]Faith[/name_f] sounds better to me, but go with what you like better! Different sounds appeal to different people, and I don’t particularly like S and V sounds.
Agreed. You’re right. Thank you.
To me, these names are so different. Is there one that seem to suit your little one better?
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] seems more frilly, summery, and current.
[name_f]Faith[/name_f] feels classic, serious, and tailored.
[name_f]My[/name_f] personal preference is [name_f]Faith[/name_f] over [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] but both are lovely names.
