This is a toughie. First name suggestions to go with “[name]Sarah[/name]” as a middle name? For reference, my last name starts with S, so that removes all “A” names from the conversation.
I’ll admit it, I’m not head-over-heels in love with any of them. My husband and I stink at girls’ names.
I am due with baby #2 this summer, and we are not finding out the sex of the baby (Go Team [name]Green[/name]!). Our first, a boy, is [name]William[/name] [name]Michael[/name] (nn “[name]Will[/name]”). “[name]William[/name]” because we loved the name, “[name]Michael[/name]” after his father. My first name is [name]Sarah[/name], so being a symmetry freak, I wanted to have [name]Sarah[/name] as a little girl’s middle name.
If we have another boy, his name will be [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]John[/name] or [name]Henry[/name] [name]Adam[/name]. We’re pretty evenly split on those two but like them both very much.
[name]Lovely[/name] list! I really like [name]Katharine[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], and [name]Genevieve[/name] with [name]William[/name] (and I adore the nickname [name]Evie[/name]!). What about…
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] (I have a friend named [name]Sara[/name] [name]Katherine[/name])
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
Other name options/ideas:
[name]Cadence[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] (I really like this one)
[name]Charlene[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] (i quite like this one as well, this combo may get me to like the name [name]Charlene[/name])
[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Guiliana[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]
It’s a relief to hear that some of my initial thoughts weren’t completely horrific. I really love the sound of 3 syllables (or more) with [name]Sarah[/name] as a middle name. I will definitely be adding the following to my list:
My nieces’ names are [name]Vivienne[/name] and [name]Carolyn[/name], so that rules those names (or variations of) out. I love the name [name]Madeleine[/name], but I can’t stand “[name]Maddie[/name]” as a nickname (maybe it’s [name]Madison[/name] overload from recent years). [name]Margaret[/name] is tricky–it’s a family name for us (my aunt), but my husband thinks “[name]Maggie[/name]” is a dog name, and I’m not too fond of [name]Peggy[/name] or [name]Margie[/name] as possible nicknames. It’s kinda sad that I feel compelled to avoid certain names based on potential nicknames!
[name]One[/name] other random wrench to throw in the works…we’ve dabbled with the idea of using my middle name, [name]Campbell[/name], as a first name for a girl:
Have you considered [name]Daisy[/name] as a nickname for [name]Margaret[/name]? It’s an old fashioned nickname but definitely a viable option if you like [name]Margaret[/name] but hate the nicknames.
[name]Campbell[/name] is fine, I actually like the sound, but it’s very different in style than [name]William[/name]. Of your two combos, I think [name]Campbell[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is very pretty.
Thank you so much for the input (and for the welcome! I’m happy to be here!).
It’s silly, I know, but I have been thinking about [name]William[/name] and [name]Katharine[/name]/[name]Katherine[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name] as a sibset, and wonder whether or not it will draw a ton of “Oh, cute…[name]Will[/name] & [name]Kate[/name]…how original” Anglophile references. Ha, ha. I guess it’s not my fault if they’re truly classic names.
Over dinner last night, I brought up the tentative girl name list with my mother (which is always a mistake…), and of course, she redirected to names she’s more fond of ([name]Norah[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Ellen[/name], etc. Nice, but not really what I’m looking for). It just makes me want to keep everything a secret.
