Baby Girl Name Help- I Thought This Would Be Easy!

I need your expert help! I am currently due in [name]May[/name] with a baby girl. I thought girl names were easier, but I’m stuck.

The issue is that all of the names I like are popular and therefore don’t feel “fresh” to me. On the other hand, I don’t want to pick an “out there” name just to be different. This is probably my last child, so one chance for a perfect girl name. Oh, the pressure!

Must flow with [name]Oliver[/name] (2.5 yr old son)
Last name starts with ABS--------, and sounds Germanic. 2 or 3 syllables, depending on how you say it.
Want something feminine, but not girly, with some spunk
No made up or misspelled names
No “trendy” names, but classic/popular ok
Literary connections a plus
[name]Oliver[/name] has 3 names ([name]Oliver[/name] [name]James[/name] [name]Ryan[/name]), so potentially 3 names

Fave names/nn right now: [name]LUCY[/name], [name]LILY[/name], [name]DAISY[/name]

Problem is [name]Lily[/name] is too popular, [name]Lucy[/name] is rising, and not sure I can see an adult [name]Daisy[/name]. What I would love is for your help in coming up with some great combos for [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Daisy[/name]

Other names we like: [name]CLARA[/name], [name]ELOISE[/name], [name]CHARLOTTE[/name], [name]BEATRICE[/name]

Family names: [name]BEATRICE[/name], [name]KATHARINE[/name], [name]REED[/name], [name]MARGARET[/name], [name]BESS[/name], [name]LUCILE[/name], [name]HARPER[/name], [name]CAROLINE[/name], [name]AMELIA[/name]

Names I like but can’t use as first name: [name]JULIET[/name], [name]JOSEPHINE[/name], [name]EDEN[/name], [name]MIA[/name], [name]NORA[/name], [name]GEORGIA[/name]

Funky potential middle names: [name]MARCH[/name], [name]MILLAY[/name], [name]ARDEN[/name], [name]MARIN[/name]

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I think [name]Lucy[/name] is PERFECT with [name]Oliver[/name]! So lovely!

Another vote for [name]Lucy[/name]. It suits [name]Oliver[/name] the best (comparing to [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Daisy[/name]).
[name]Lucy[/name] Margareth [name]Reed[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Arden[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Harper[/name]

I also like [name]Oliver[/name] with [name]Clara[/name].
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Eden[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Millay[/name]

Btw, I prefer not to use [name]March[/name] for a [name]May[/name] born baby.

I like the idea of using your family name of [name]Lucile[/name], with the nickname [name]Lucy[/name]. I am also in love with [name]March[/name] as a middle (or even first) name - I think it’s crisp and lovely, and unlike the post above I don’t see any problem with using it for a baby not born in [name]March[/name] - it’s the same to me as using [name]June[/name] or [name]August[/name].

My suggestion: [name]Lucile[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]March[/name] (or, if you prefer, just [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]March[/name]). I think it flows nicely, sounds good with [name]Oliver[/name] [name]James[/name] [name]Ryan[/name], and as a bonus, you get a strong [name]Little[/name] Women connection by using [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]March[/name].

Good luck!

I love [name]Lucy[/name]! (yeah, I said it.) I kind of wish we hadn’t used that name for the dog, because I’d love to consider it for [name]Baby[/name] [name]Bee[/name].

I’m not a fan of [name]Daisy[/name]. Like you said, it’s hard to imagine it on an adult who’s not in curlers wearing a frilly flower print dress.

[name]Lily[/name] is very pretty, but very popular. Personally, NMS, but I think it’s a nice name. If you’re ok with the popularity, there are lots of fun combinations you can do.

[name]Caroline[/name] is a beautiful name. If you don’t like that, maybe [name]Carolina[/name]? And since you can’t use [name]Georgia[/name], how about [name]Georgiana[/name]?

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Arden[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Clara[/name] [name]March[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]March[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Marin[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Clara[/name] [name]Marin[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Arden[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Arden[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Marin[/name]

Other names to consider:

Did you know that [name]Daisy[/name] can be a nickname for [name]Margaret[/name]?

[name]How[/name] about [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Lily[/name], nn [name]Daisy[/name]? There are other great nn’s for [name]Margaret[/name] as well (I like [name]Meg[/name] a lot, too).

I think [name]Lucy[/name] is also adorable with [name]Oliver[/name] (I have a little [name]Ollie[/name] of my own who just turned 1 this week!).

[name]Mary[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] would make a lovely sibset. The literary connection would be [name]Mary[/name] [name]Shelley[/name], author of “Frankenstein”.

Thanks everyone! [name]Jersey[/name] [name]Gray[/name], one of my favorite poets is named [name]Mary[/name] [name]Oliver[/name].

Much to think about.

I second the idea of [name]Margaret[/name] nn [name]Daisy[/name], you could also use nn [name]Mary[/name] if you preferred. I [name]LOVE[/name] the idea of [name]March[/name] as a middle name!
