Hello! I am new to names berry, just been having a read of everyones comments and it’s already been really helpful helping me to devise a shortlist for my baby girl. [name]Hope[/name] you can help whitle down my list a bit.
Our surname is O’[name]Neill[/name] which is Irish although neither me or my partner are Irish.
Here’s my list of options:
[name]Flora[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
[name]Betsy[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
[name]Nola[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] (really love this but does it sound too Irish?)
[name]Clementine[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
[name]Iris[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
[name]Romany[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
[name]Elsa[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
My favourites out of that list are [name]Elsa[/name] and [name]Iris[/name], I think they go well with the surname and are different but lovely! Are the names in this list your set list or are you still looking at other names? x
[name]Flora[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] – this sounds okay, but doesn’t seem to have enough…oomph.
[name]Betsy[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] – I still always think of [name]Betsy[/name] as the name of a cow, so that wouldn’t get my vote
[name]Nola[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] (really love this but does it sound too Irish?) – it sounds like a character name, but I do actually think its rather fantastic
[name]Clementine[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] – love [name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] – I really like this one, sounds lovely
[name]Iris[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] – also good
[name]Romany[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] – okay, not my favourite
[name]Elsa[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] – see [name]Flora[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] – [name]Isadora[/name] is too popular for my taste, or too similar to many popular choices, but it does sound nice
[name]Mabel[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] – [name]Mabel[/name] seems to be coming back up lately. Seems fine.
Of your list, my favourite is [name]Penelope[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]. [name]Nola[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] would probably be second, I really like the name [name]Nola[/name]. [name]Iris[/name] would be third and [name]Clementine[/name] next.
My favorites are [name]Elsa[/name] and [name]Nola[/name]. I don’t think [name]Nola[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] sounds too Irish. It’s kind of movie-star-esque, actually.
Caitzandbump I would love any suggestions of names you think would go with the surname. I just want something really pretty and feminine and not too common or too weird ha!
Also would love to hear any suggestions for a middle name to go with any on my list!
Holbs thanks for all your comments, its really great to get your opinion on all the names! I am loving [name]Nola[/name] but my partner doesn’t like the illiteration of the “O” and “N” sound with the surname, which I think is part of why I like it as it flows! And love [name]Penelope[/name] but wondered if it was too boring?
[name]Nola[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name] (really love this but does it sound too Irish?)
**short and sweet. (makes me think of New Orleans, LA)
[name]Penelope[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
**my fav on your list. I don’t think it’s boring and it has fun, spunky nn’s: [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Penny[/name], [name]Pepper[/name]…
[name]Elsa[/name] O’[name]Neill[/name]
**I just really like this one, very pretty.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Flora[/name] [name]Alice[/name], [name]Iris[/name] [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Elsa[/name] [name]June[/name] and especially [name]Elsa[/name] [name]Opal[/name]! That is really cool thank you!
