Baby girl name help

I’ve just found out I’m having a baby girl after six years of trying! I love the name [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]. Family not so sure. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks, [name_f]Morganna[/name_f].

I love [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]. So prefect.

Plus I could not be happier for you! After 6 years of trying I’m so glad you’re getting your baby!!!

I’m so happy for you! Congratulations
[name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] is a great name. The only criticism I can come up with is that it’s a bit rhymey, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Personally I think it’s sweet.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t let anyone talk you out of it! After 6 years of trying, you definitely deserve for this pregnancy and child to be everything you want it to be!

Congratulations!

While I think people should use the name they love, I give this one a big thumbs down. I know a little boy named [name_u]Hero[/name_u], and his name always brings eye rolls and cringes. There are many teasing options. This is where I think the name would be a burden.

[name_u]Hero[/name_u] is an impossible name to live up to. I can’t imagine it working well in any context, from preschool enrollment to wedding announcements to applying for jobs. It makes its owner seem super arrogant even though they obviously had nothing to do with choosing the name. I like the flow, though, so maybe something similar with [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]?

I’m so happy for you that this baby is finally coming!

But…in my honest opinion, [name_u]Hero[/name_u] is not a great name, especially for a little girl. I can totally picture the eye rolls, cringes, and teasing that the other posters mentioned.

This is obviously completely your decision and we are just here to provide outside insight. She is the one who will have to live with the name, though.

Thanks for all the replies. :)You have given me a lot to think about. Thanks again.

I love the name [name_u]Hero[/name_u], but it’s easy to see how some people would misunderstand it.
It registers as a girls name to me and I think of [name_u]Hero[/name_u] and [name_m]Leander[/name_m] and ‘Much [name_f]Ado[/name_f] About Nothing’.

I just read my response again and didn’t mean for it to sound so harsh. Are you open to other suggestions, and do you like [name_u]Hero[/name_u] mostly for the sound or meaning?

Congratulations! Im sure you will be rewarded with a beautiful little girl.

Now, I like the combo [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f], and I think it sounds lovely, but we have to keep in mind that the child will be called their first name, in which case [name_u]Hero[/name_u] is not exactly ideal.
The name [name_u]Hero[/name_u] implies arrogance and a big ego, when in fact the child had no part in choosing her name. [name_u]Hero[/name_u] may also be a big part of stress when the child gets older. Yes, I’m almost certain that she’ll love having the name [name_u]Hero[/name_u] as a smaller child, but as she gets into her teenage years, it may become a source of stress and anxiety. I know from living it right now that teenage years come accompanied by tons of stress, anxiety and feelings of incompetence, and if your child has the name [name_u]Hero[/name_u], I’m very sure it will add a large amount of all three to your child’s life, which may have a longer lasting effect leading into her early adulthood. If she doesn’t feel she can or will live up to the name, she’ll either resent her own name or send herself spiralling into more and more stress. When she becomes an adult, it may be hard for older people or her peers to take her seriously, which makes applying for jobs a whole lot harder.

[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] is is a lovely name, and if you love it, I recommend using [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] as a first name rather than a middle name. Taking [name_u]Hero[/name_u] off the first name list with make a big difference in your child’s life. I do not mean to sound too harsh, but [name_u]Hero[/name_u] is a name I believe can be charming at the right times, but can also be damaging to self-esteem.
