Baby girl needs a name

Hello! We have been on quite a few forums seeking advice with not much luck, so here’s hoping this works.

Our first daughter is due in about twelve weeks. My husband and I are in search of the name and continually come up empty handed.

The running list we have is [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_u]Paisley[/name_u], [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], and [name_u]Addison[/name_u]

Names we like but can’t use for various reasons are [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Brynlee[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], and [name_u]Peyton[/name_u]

Any opinions or ideas based on these names? I’m not sure what we’d classify our style as!

Our sons name is [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]

I love your prospects. My least favorite on your list is [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], but the rest are sweet. are you looking for suggestions or for combinations?

I like:
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Paisley[/name_u]
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]
[name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_u]Addison[/name_u]

Thanks for your response! [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]/[name_m]Oaklee[/name_m] is a pretty popular name in our state, but I understand if others don’t like it. I’m mostly looking for input on our list and possible suggestions.

Her middle name will either be [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] after our moms

[name_f]Emma[/name_f] is my favorite on your list. Some other suggestions:

Thanks for the responses!

I’d like to hear why [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is everyone’s favorite since most people I mention it to say something like, “oh that’s too popular!”

[name_f]Emma[/name_f] is beautiful and my favourite from your list. [name_u]Paisley[/name_u], [name_u]Addison[/name_u] and [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] are all ok but a bit too trendy and modern for my taste.

If you like [name_f]Brynlee[/name_f] you might like Brailee?

A few suggestions based on the names on your list:

Brailee
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]
[name_f]Kinsley[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]

Good luck!

I think [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is the most classic name on your list which is why many are liking it best. It does work well with [name_u]Hayden[/name_u]! I like [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] and the suggestion of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. Also, what about just [name_u]Bryn[/name_u]?

[name_u]Riley[/name_u] or [name_u]Rylee[/name_u]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] or [name_f]Aubree[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_u]Connolly[/name_u]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_u]Marley[/name_u]

Good luck!

I really like [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] or [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] with brother [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] (and with middle name [name_f]Nicole[/name_f])!

Other names you might like:

[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]

[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Patrice[/name_u]
[name_u]Devin[/name_u]

My cousin has a [name_f]Brynlee[/name_f]. Their other daughter is Breslyn. Thought that might fit your style.

I think [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] is reeeaaally cute. I’m also surprised by the response to [name_f]Emma[/name_f] in this thread. As an [name_f]Emma[/name_f] myself, I strongly dislike it. I know so many [name_f]Emma[/name_f]'s, its ridicules and confusing. If you were to name her [name_f]Emma[/name_f], I would advise using a unique middle name that she could go by if she comes to dislike it or gets tired of being called Emma [ln initial]. Unfortunately, I also know two other Emmas with the same mn as me.

My favorite from your running list is also [name_f]Emma[/name_f].

[name_u]Paisley[/name_u], [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], and [name_u]Addison[/name_u] feel too trendy for my tastes. Out of the three I like [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] best.

[name_u]Addison[/name_u] (and other [name_f]Addie[/name_f] names) have exploded in popularity in the last few years. I suspect once it starts to loose steam, it will lose it as quickly as climbed, which runs the risk of having a super dated name. Being a [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], that concerns me.

[name_u]Oakley[/name_u] is also trendy along with other surnames. I love some surnames as firsts, and really dislike others. [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] falls into the dislike bucket for me. It feels odd to refer to someone by that as a first name, I have a hard time with it.

[name_u]Paisley[/name_u] is not necessarily my style either, but I prefer it over the other two.

I like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] the most because, despite popularity, it has a vintage and classic feel. It is sweet, with room for a bit of a fiesty edge, it works on a girly girl, tomboy, or anything in between. It wears well as a child and an adult. It is elegant and lovely. It will probably be one of those names that in another 100 years comes right back into fashion.

You asked why there have been so many votes for [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. My best guess is that most people have a very different style from yours, and while [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], and [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] are all pretty distinctive names, [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is a classic that’s impossible to hate. It’s a bit like if I asked people to choose between Copernicus, Lumiere, Vismund, or [name_m]Kevin[/name_m]. That’s pretty extreme hyperbole, but you get my point.

I personally don’t care for [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] or [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] either, but I actually do like [name_u]Addison[/name_u]! I know it’s trendy, but I think it’s nice.

I also love [name_f]Lila[/name_f], although I know you can’t use it. Would [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] still be a possibility?
