Baby Girl (with a cute nickname!) Help!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

So I’m pregnant with my second, and I don’t know the gender yet. My DH and I agree on most boys names, and I’m pretty sure we’ll end up using [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] ([name_m]Jake[/name_m] for short) if we have a boy. My first born is [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], and we call him [name_m]Benji[/name_m] - and I love his name. I love that [name_m]Benji[/name_m] isn’t too common, and I love the options of nicknames with [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] (when he’s older he can go by [name_m]Ben[/name_m] instead, if he wants).

We are struggling to find a girls name that is just as great, and that has amazing nicknames. I also have a few naming rules - the girls name cannot start with B, N, or M (I am [name_u]Nikki[/name_u], and I had a brother [name_m]Nathan[/name_m], and it was just too “cutesty”, so no matching names in this family), and her middle name will be [name_f]Carola[/name_f] (family name), so I don’t want a first name that also ends in an “A”.

So far, we kind of agree on the following: [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] (nickname [name_m]Ken[/name_m], [name_m]Kenny[/name_m], or KC for short, my favourite so far), [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] ([name_u]Abby[/name_u]), [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] (Z for short), and sort of agree on [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] (although I can’t think of great nicknames for [name_f]Hailey[/name_f]). I loved [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] for their nickname potential, but hubs shot them down. Any other suggestions I’m overlooking?

Thanks wise mamas!

I like [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], but it’s not my top choice because it just isn’t my style. That said, it does seem to go well with [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and does meet your other criteria- though I’m not sure how I feel about it with the middle name.

Of your list, my favorite is probably [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], and I think [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Carola[/name_f] is darling. Other options:
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] ([name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], etc as nicknames)
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] ([name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Junie[/name_f] as nicknames)
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (has a plethora of nicknames but not as unique as your other options)
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] ([name_f]Madge[/name_f], [name_f]Marge[/name_f], [name_f]Margie[/name_f], etc as nicknames)

I dont think [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] sounds very well paired with [name_f]Carola[/name_f]. [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Carola[/name_f] is cute though.

suggestions:
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] (ellie, ella, norrie, nora)
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] (ella)
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] (lettie)
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] (lola)
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] (addie)
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (filly or city)
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (etta)
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] (cici)

From your list, and with [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], I like [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] best. I think [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] don’t quite pair up well, plus I don’t like the matching [name_m]Ben[/name_m] & [name_m]Ken[/name_m] beginnings.

Based on the names you mentioned, you might also like…
[name_f]Jordan[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Kathryn[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
Juliet
Grace
Lillian

I also second the suggestion of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] best of your options, [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] sounds awkward with [name_f]Carola[/name_f] in my opinion.

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Liz[/name_f], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], Bethie, etc)
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] ([name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_u]Angie[/name_u], [name_u]Angel[/name_u], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], etc)
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] ([name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f])
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] ([name_f]Cat[/name_f], [name_f]Cate[/name_f], [name_f]Catie[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_f]Kitty[/name_f], [name_u]Kay[/name_u], [name_f]Rina[/name_f], etc)
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] ([name_f]Gen[/name_f], [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f])
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] ([name_u]Gabby[/name_u], [name_f]Bria[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Brielle[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_u]Abby[/name_u])
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] ([name_f]Viv[/name_f], [name_f]Vivi[/name_f], [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f])

[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Carola[/name_f] sounds really nice!

I love [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], a good friend of mines is called [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] and I always call her Hails and my god daughter, also called [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], I end up calling her Halo or [name_u]Angel[/name_u] (because of the Halo reference).

The suggestion of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is definitely good, as is [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. I would also suggest [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Arianne[/name_f] and [name_f]Mirielle[/name_f].

Thanks for the input, all. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my DH’s sister’s name, and so a no-go. [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] in my [name_f]MIL[/name_f]'s name… also a no-go

I hadn’t thought about the [name_m]Ken[/name_m] and [name_m]Ben[/name_m] combo - but that’s a great point. Too cutesty  haha…

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], but a close girlfriend used it as a middle name for her daughter… so it’s tricky! I do like [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f], and the nicknames, thanks!

Hubs has vetoed [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (which I love!).

I don’t really care about the first name matching/going with the middle name - as we wouldn’t be referring to child by both. It’s more sentimental.

Keep the names coming - thanks mamas!

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] are both really great names with a long history - so with that in mind, I think [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is a great option and so classic.

Trying to think of other names that are similar in style and have great nickname potential… maybe…
