Baby Girl

Hello, we are thinking of naming our daughter [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], but we aren’t sure if it goes with our last name: [name_u]Marsh[/name_u]. We aren’t sure if it’s pretty and sophisticated or hillbilly. Please help.

It’s a very pretty name! I didn’t get a hillbilly vibe from it at all

Definitely don’t get a hillbilly vibe!

So pretty! Go for it!

I don’t think it’s “hillbilly” but I do see how it could sound a bit descriptive depending on where you’re living.

It’s a beautiful name! Definitely doesn’t give off a hillbilly vibe. I think it’s a great classic name.

Beautiful names, both! Though as @whatchamacallit points out, it could sound descriptive, like a Marsh in Georgia.

Also reminds me of George Perkins Marsh, the 19th-century American environmentalist concerned with sustainability. Not a bad association, but thought maybe worth mentioning! George Perkins Marsh - Wikipedia

It would be a lovely choice! No hillbilly vibes, just a pretty name.

It’s such a beautiful name but I kinda agree with the other comments that with your last name it could possibly sound like a marsh in [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] something for you to think about

I guess I’m in the minority, but I do hear “a marsh in Georgia”.

I hear a marsh in [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], but I’m sure if it was a real person who I knew, I’d get over that quickly. It’s not a bad reference or anything like that.

I wouldn’t say “hillbilly” more like descriptive
