Baby Honor?

hello nameberries,
first of all I am proud to say I am a mommy to be of baby girl…
I want to name her [name]Honor[/name],
the thing is dont look forward to people saying i name her [name]Honor[/name] because of celeb baby.
I think the name is wonderful and is the best virtue name for me, i been wanting to use the name for the beautiful meaning it represents…

the second in the list is
[name]Amelie[/name]

[name]Mia[/name]

do you think [name]Honor[/name] is too out there? what would be a good middle name? should i consider other names? anything?

Thank you all in advance.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the name [name]Honor[/name] because of something I heard awhile ago in the show Scrubs. While two characters were debating names for their baby, they mentioned the name [name]Honor[/name], and the dad said no because in high school people would say, “Did you get [name]Honor[/name]? Yeah, I got [name]Honor[/name]!” And I just think it sets up way too many sexual jokes in the future, and that’s always the thing I think of when I hear the name.
Maybe it’s personal, but I’m just warning you.

I think [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Mia[/name] are gorgeous, gorgeous names. But, if popularity matters to you, I’d definitely go with [name]Amelie[/name]. I think it’s pretty and will age well.

Good luck!

[name]Hi[/name] there! I don’t think [name]Honor[/name] is too out there. I actually know a woman named [name]Honor[/name] and the name suits her very well. [name]Virtue[/name] names are coming back into fashion and I quite like them. I like [name]Amelie[/name] as well and [name]Mia[/name] is a cute name but very popular. I prefer [name]Honor[/name]. Hmm… some good mn combos:

[name]Honor[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Natalia[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Adrienne[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Imogen[/name]

Let us know if any of these are more your style than others. hope that helps!

[name]Hi[/name]! I think [name]Honor[/name] is a beautiful name, and more importantly, you love it! (Oh, and to me, no, it’s not too out there.)

If you’re unsure about using [name]Honor[/name], you may also like [name]Annora[/name] (related to [name]Honor[/name]), and of course, there’s also [name]Honora[/name]. You’d lose the meaning of the name, but I thought I’d also mention that if you decide you don’t want to go with [name]Honor[/name], you could always use a name like [name]Nora[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], or [name]Eleanora[/name], which contain [name]Honor[/name]'s “nor” sound.

I hope you go with the name you love!

Sorry for repeats!

[name]Honor[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] (I kind of hear “[name]Honora[/name] [name]Liza[/name],” but that may just be me.)
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] (popular, but I think it sounds really pretty with [name]Honor[/name])
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Vivian[/name] (then again, if you’re concerned about the celebrity name angle, [name]Honor[/name] [name]Vivian[/name] may not be the best, because of [name]Honor[/name] [name]Warren[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Jolie[/name]-[name]Pitt[/name])

I really love Freckles’ suggestion of [name]Honor[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Honor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]!

Good luck!

I think [name]Honor[/name] is a cool name. If you love it, then I think you should go for it.

I do NOT associate the word [name]Honor[/name] with sexual gratification! I’ve never heard that, and I doubt it is something that comes to the mind of most people…unless thats what frat boys still call in in 20 years when she’s in college.
Also, I know it was used by a celebrity, but we’re not talking about a celeb along the recognition lines of [name]Brad[/name] [name]Pitt[/name]. In a year, no one will automatically think "oh, thats (is it [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Alba[/name]'s?) daughter’s name! My husband always comes up with these things that someone might think when they hear a name, but ppl with soon associate the name with the child first. [name]Don[/name]'t worry, I don’t think [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Alba[/name] or an episode of Scrubs will end up in a vault of things we’ll never forget in 2 years.

I also think [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Honor[/name] sounds really nice! I don’t personally like [name]Honor[/name] [name]Amelie[/name] or [name]Honor[/name] [name]Mia[/name]…but you can come up for a new middle name

[name]How[/name] about [name]Honora[/name]? one of my favourites

[name]Honor[/name] is a beautiful name! But I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Amelie[/name]–it is a classic name that will not go out of style.
If you do go with [name]Honor[/name], I like [name]Honor[/name] [name]Marie[/name] or [name]Honor[/name] [name]Maria[/name].

I think the [name]Honor[/name] joke from Scrubs (which was the first thing I thought of too, admittedly) isn’t because [name]Honor[/name] is a code word for sex but because it sounds like ‘On her’ which it always will.
“Did you get [name]Honor[/name] (on her)? Yeah, I got [name]Honor[/name] (On her)” [name]Just[/name] to clarify

I don’t think that it is too far out there. Its really as out there as any of the other virtue names. I have never seen the Scrubs episode, but I do think that it does sound like “on her”. Maybe its just my southern accent, but when I say “honor” and “on her”, they sound virtually the same. I would be hesitant to use it. However, if you love it, use it. Your baby will mold into her name.

[name]Honor[/name] is a beautiful name! I really like it and I like its simplicity, strength and feminity. It is a strong, British name and that is why I have chosen the mn’s to suit.

[name]Honor[/name] [name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Anthea[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Lilian[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Elspeth[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Junia[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Marion[/name]

[name]Kiki[/name]–

Oh. geez! Thanks for clarifying…I read this while at work and I don’t think I was paying enough attention. At the same time, I don’t think that when I hear [name]Honor[/name]!! I think the name will become a part of the person, and people won’t think ON HER as much as one might think. Its good to point that out (and guess what, now I remember that episode!)

[name]Honor[/name] is my favorite virtue name. I really like it and although I am aware that it is the name of a celeb’s baby, I don’t think of it as a celebrity name. I think it is wonderful and underused.
I like [name]Honor[/name] [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Honor[/name] [name]Vanessa[/name].

[name]Kiki[/name],
Thank you for clarifying what I meant by the name [name]Honor[/name]. I can see how what I said could be misunderstood… Lol
I also find it slightly amusing that I’m not the only who thinks of the Scrubs reference! It really ruined the name for me, and that’s all I think of when I hear the name [name]Honor[/name].

But, to the main poster, if you love the name you should use it. Despite all of the Scrubs references… Lol

[name]Honor[/name] is a beautiful name… please name your babygirl this (:
[name]Amelie[/name] is another lovely choice though…so you cant go wrong.
good luck!

I like it, but personally it isn’t feminine enough for me. I prefer [name]Honora[/name], or if you want it to look namier, [name]Annora[/name].

I think that [name]Honor[/name] is a good name, but, like Lilacarose said, not feminine enough. It also might be too much for a child to live up to. [name]Annora[/name] (nn [name]Honor[/name], [name]Annie[/name], or [name]Nora[/name]) is my prefered variant.

Middle names:
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Helena[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Helen[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Paloma[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Dove[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Violet[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Estella[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Estelle[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Jane[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Julia[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]June[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Mathilde[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Celia[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Celie[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Honor[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] / [name]Annora[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]

[name]Honor[/name] is a very pretty name. So is [name]Amelie[/name]. [name]Love[/name] [name]Honor[/name] [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Honor[/name]. Personally I prefer [name]Amelie[/name] nn [name]Mia[/name]. It’s so easy to say all day long.
On “[name]Gilmore[/name] Girls”, I think [name]Logan[/name]'s sister is named [name]Honor[/name]. Sounds so aristocratic and New [name]England[/name] to me.

I think [name]Honor[/name] is strong and sophisticated. As others have said, it’s not overly feminine, so I would recommend a more flowery, girly middle to go with it (others have given great options.) [name]Honora[/name]/[name]Annora[/name] are also very pretty alternatives. I don’t think people would assume you’re naming your daughter after a celeb’s baby. It took me awhile to make the celeb connection, even after you mentioned that concern. If you really love the name, I wouldn’t worry too much about that.

On the other hand, I really love [name]Amelie[/name]. You could even use [name]Mia[/name] as a nickname for [name]Amelie[/name], but as others have said, [name]Mia[/name] is very popular. [name]Amelie[/name] is beautiful on its own, though!

Congratulations and good luck!!

Another possibility is [name]Honore[/name] (pronounced onor-ay), which I think is really pretty.
