[name_u]Baby[/name_u] is here early and still nameless!!
My wife gave birth to our son on the 20th, a few weeks early. They’re both doing really well and home but we are still drawing a blank with his name. We can’t keep calling him ‘the baby’ forever!
We had managed to narrow our options down ever so slightly to:
[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Maxim[/name_m]’ [name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Luca[/name_u]’ [name_m]Peter[/name_m] Thorfinn
[name_m]Bastien[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Baz[/name_m]’ [name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Raffy[/name_m]’ Thorfinn
We’ve been trying all three names on him but none seem to stick. My heart is still with [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], but I am struggling with the idea of such a long name on such a small baby and my wife is still swithering with it, though she really likes [name_m]Maxim[/name_m]. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is her top choice, but I don’t like it with brother [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and we still can’t decide how to say [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. He just doesn’t seem to suit [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] or [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] at all, but he could grow into them I think.
We would love some last minute thoughts. What would you name him? His big brothers are [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
I think you answered your own question! Go with [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], the are plenty of potential nicknames you can choose from.
Or maybe consider other longer forms of [name_u]Max[/name_u] as previous poster suggested- [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Maximus[/name_m], [name_m]Maxen[/name_m], [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] as a full name?
To repeat what everyone has said [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] seems to be the name your heart is set on. While I agree that it is a very long name, your baby won’t always be so small unfortunately. He is going to grow up and as he gets older [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] won’t seem that big on him (it could even seem small depending on how tall he gets!) and [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] is a lovely nickname that could also work on its own if you decide against [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m].

I love [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Maxim[/name_m]’ [name_m]Peter[/name_m]! It’s a very handsome name. I also adore the other first names on your list, but [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] sounds fantastic with the middle name [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] & [name_u]Max[/name_u]/[name_m]Maxim[/name_m] create an amazing sibset!

What about [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] as the full name, with [name_u]Max[/name_u] as a nn possibility?
[name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] ([name_u]Max[/name_u]) sound great together.

I vote [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], & [name_m]Maxim[/name_m]. Perfect sibset! Ditch the long [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], I say - [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] is great on it’s own.
I’m going to say it: I really like [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. So much more than [name_u]Max[/name_u]. [name_m]Way[/name_m] more than [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. I’d like [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] too, but it sounds like that’s not the right fit. But if you like [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u], which both have a bit of a European flair, what about [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]? [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and Xave (Zave) would be fantastic.

Are [name_m]Jack[/name_m] & [name_m]Leo[/name_m] nns or full names? (I love those, btw!) . I think you could just do [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] or [name_u]Luca[/name_u] as on their own if you can’t wrap your head around [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] or [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. I like them both a lot. [name_u]Max[/name_u] is way popular, but [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] isn’t. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is fairly unique.
My sister in law just had her fifth boy, & the little guy went nameless for over a week. He has a great name now, & no harm done. You’ll figure it out. .
I would go with [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m]!

Thanks for all your advice, we think we’re going to go with [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m]. My wife doesn’t love it still, but she does love [name_m]Maxim[/name_m], and since he’s my only child she’s okay with me getting the final say on his name.
Yes, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are their full names. They’re my step-sons - their names definitely suit them, but they’re completely not what I would have named them. My wife likes long name, hence the nicknames, and I like long, more elaborate names, so just [name_m]Maxim[/name_m], or just [name_u]Luca[/name_u], is not an option for us, because I don’t like them as full names.
