Baby Jem?

I am really liking the name [name]Jem[/name] by itself. I’m not big on the formal [name]James[/name] or [name]Jeremiah[/name]. But it’s such a short name, middle names are tricky! I’d like to honor my late father. His nickname was [name]Chris[/name] but his formal name was [name]Gary[/name] [name]Edward[/name]. I like [name]Jem[/name] [name]Edward[/name] and [name]Jem[/name] [name]Edmond[/name]. I also like [name]Jem[/name] [name]Christoffer[/name].

Any other thoughts on this name and suggestions for mn? Thanks!

PS- yes- I am a huge fan of “to Kill a Mockingbird!”

Sibs are [name]Francisco[/name] ([name]Cisco[/name]) [name]August[/name] (Auggie) and [name]Lily[/name] [name]Hope[/name].

Personally, [name]Jem[/name] strikes me as feminine and [name]Jim[/name] as masculine. I realize spoken no one would know the difference, but written, that’s what my assumption would be.

[name]Jem[/name] does unfortunately sound like [name]Gem[/name], a very feminine name, but I have been wanting this name to come back so I’m glad you want to use it! [name]Jem[/name] can be a nickname for [name]James[/name] too if you want something less formal than [name]Jeremiah[/name]. [name]Jem[/name] [name]Edward[/name] sounds great to me! Since [name]Jem[/name] is an unusual name, you might want to stay away from [name]Edmond[/name], though I do love that name in theory.

Isn’t [name]Jem[/name] from To Kill A Mockinbird called [name]Jeremy[/name]? I prefer that over [name]James[/name]/[name]Jeremiah[/name]

Personally i [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Jeremy[/name], but [name]Jem[/name] [name]Edmond[/name] works pretty well. I’m not usually a fan of nn’s alone, but maybe i’m just biased here because i love [name]Jeremy[/name] with the nn [name]Jem[/name] so much.

[name]Jem[/name] is all To Kill Mockingbird to me, but I love it.

I absolutely love the name [name]Jem[/name]! But everyone I’ve told gets it mixed up with [name]Jim[/name] which was a huge turn off. If that doesn’t discourage you I think [name]Jem[/name] [name]Edward[/name] is handsome.

[name]Jem[/name] was a female cartoon character in the 80’s TV show “[name]Jem[/name] and the Holograms”. I used to watch while babysitting a lot so it has a very feminine image for me. It’s also very close to [name]Gem[/name] and I knew a female with this name growing up.

[name]Jem[/name] is our top boy choice as well! I love [name]Jem[/name] [name]Edward[/name], and I think in this day and age nicknames as first names are completely appropriate (think [name]Sam[/name], [name]Max[/name], [name]Charlie[/name] etc). I think of TKM and [name]Anne[/name] of [name]Green[/name] Gables firstborn son. Yes, people may hear [name]Jim[/name] or think short for [name]Jemma[/name]. But, [name]Jim[/name] is easily corrected and [name]Jemma[/name] is not popular in many areas of the country.

So thought of [name]Jem[/name] and the Holograms. That being said, I think [name]Jem[/name] [name]Edward[/name] is the best of the middle-name pairings.

Me too. I’d probably go for [name]Jeb[/name] or [name]Jed[/name] instead. But then again I haven’t actually read “To Kill A Mockingbird”, so maybe if I had it would make a difference to my thoughts on the name

^^ Thirded. All I can think of is “[name]Jem[/name] is truly outrageous, truly truly truly outrageous!”
