Baby name anxiety - Narrowing it down, Please vote!

We have two months to go before our first girl is born and can not seem to agree on a name. We are open to suggestions, but my husband is more partial to using a family name, but I could probably spin things for a name I really like. The only family name that I really like is [name]Emery[/name], but I tend to like more classic and strong names and this doesn’t feel like that to me?? I’d be afraid that we would be stuck with the “sound” of [name]Emery[/name] for our future children and wouldn’t be able to use the classics. Please help us - we need it!

Congrads! I think that the name [name]Emery[/name] is very pretty. I think that you could mix classic names
with it. If you really would rather use another name that is not a family name just talk to your husband about it. Maybe you can use a claasic name that you really like and then use a family name as a middle! Good luck!

Congrats! I love the name [name]Emery[/name]!!! Here is a list of other names that I thought you might like to think about! [name]Hope[/name] it helps!

[name]Phoebe[/name] (nn Fi) ([name]Emery[/name] in the middle?)
[name]Lydia[/name] (nn Lydi)

[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Emerson[/name] as a compromise? It is a stronger name and could be used also as a middle name. If you prefer it for a boy, you could hold onto it for a future baby.

[name]Don[/name]'t worry! You’ll find the perfect name for your baby! I love so many of the suggestions you’ve been given, especially [name]Emmeline[/name], with gives you the [name]Em[/name] from [name]Emery[/name], as well as a classic/vintage name. You could always stick [name]Emery[/name] in the middle if you’re uncomfortable using it up front.

Some more:

[name]Amelia[/name]/[name]Emilia[/name]

[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]

Good luck!

[name]Emery[/name] was a family name for us too! We just had a little girl [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. I know I am completely biased but paired with [name]Jane[/name] I think it gives it a more traditional feel. [name]Just[/name] my two cents! Oh and we have had many the compliment on her name!

[name]Emery[/name] [name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Camille[/name]

Thank you all so much for the suggestions. I love [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name]. [name]Sarah[/name] is a family name… but does [name]Sadie[/name] sound too much like a dog’s name? It’s also a little on the cutsey side. [name]Claire[/name] has the classic feel I like. Thank you, ladies. You all have such great ideas!

What do you think about [name]Maeve[/name] or [name]Violet[/name]?

Also, with the name [name]Emery[/name], honestly, will it prohibit us from being able to use a [name]Claire[/name] or something more classic in the future? I can take the heat, I just want to know other’s perceptions.

Naming is tough because I’m not only thinking about her name, I’m thinking about how her name will go with her future siblings (if we are so lucky).

Please keep it coming!

Oh [name]Jill[/name], I forgot to mention that I really like [name]Georgia[/name] too.

Zard, Congrats on baby [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name]! That does sound very pretty together. Tell me, other than it being a family name, what were the other reasons you picked it and what other names were you considering?

Thanks again, ladies!

I think [name]Emery[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] could totally be sisters!

At work still but ill fill you in on the naming story when I get home!

I really like [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name], too, and I think it would be perfectly fine to use either with [name]Emery[/name] as a sibling. For me, those name have [name]Emery[/name]'s cheerful, happy feel.

I absolutely love [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Violet[/name], and think [name]Emery[/name] [name]Violet[/name] is stunning! I can also see both [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] as siblings to [name]Emery[/name]. (If I couldn’t, I’d let you know!) For me, [name]Emery[/name], while unisex in theory, is extremely feminine, unlike other unisex names like [name]Sutton[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name]. I’d advise against [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name], for example, but not [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Emery[/name].

Good luck!

[name]Jill[/name],

[name]Love[/name] [name]Emery[/name] [name]Violet[/name]! I was at one point completely set on it for our daughter! Haha

Oh my gosh! That’s right, Zard! I totally forgot!

[name]Emery[/name] [name]Violet[/name] is very stunning!

[name]Jill[/name], thanks for your honesty. I agree with you that it is a more feminine unisex name. It’s so strange, I typically don’t like unisex names but [name]Emery[/name] doesn’t make me think boy at all. On the other hand, my husband is all about boys names on girls, or surnames in general. I’m a [name]Carter[/name], so maybe that’s why he likes it.

I’ve noticed that on this site there are many, many people that like [name]Maeve[/name]. I think it is so pretty, but how do husbands feel about it?

I know this blog is for baby girls, but what boy names do you see with an [name]Emery[/name], [name]Maeve[/name] or [name]Claire[/name]? [name]Just[/name] curious to see if your all’s ideas allign with what I’m thinking?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your continued suggestions!

OK, so the husband loves [name]Maeve[/name] and has been saying it all night. [name]Elizabeth[/name] is a family name, so we are thinking of the following options (please keep in mind that our last name is one syllable):

[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name] ([name]Sadie[/name]) _____
_____ [name]Violet[/name]

Please vote!!

We had narrowed down our list to [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Isla[/name]. I loved both names. I still love them! (although they are not on my short list for future children at this time) I couldn”t shake the feeling that the names just wouldn”t fit. I also hated the thought of people calling her [name]Charlie[/name] if we named her [name]Charlotte[/name]. So that was about the time I found this site and posted about my dilemma. Someone (I think [name]Jill[/name]) mentioned [name]Emery[/name], a name I had long thrown out because of someone we knew in college but I had not even seen or heard about in nearly three years. [name]Emery[/name] is my husbands grandmothers maiden name and seeing it written next to our last name it just felt right! [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name]” it just looked so beautiful! When [name]Emery[/name] arrived there is no way she could have been [name]Isla[/name], maybe [name]Charlotte[/name], but [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name] ”EJ” on occasion just fit.

If [name]Emery[/name] is not for you then don”t force it. I think you have some beautiful choices. I like [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Emery[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I also [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Violet[/name]!

[name]Violet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] [name]Violet[/name]

I love [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]!

I love [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] as well!

Another enthusiastic vote for [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]!

[name]Maeve[/name] with a future sister named [name]Claire[/name]? Perfection!!

Good luck!

I’m so jealous that your hubby likes [name]Maeve[/name]! I absolutley adore it! [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is just perfection!
