Stevie vs. Charlotte - and go! Please also feel free to explain your choice in the comments. I’m finding your comments so helpful!
Background: My husband and I are trying to pick a girl’s name for our baby who is due very soon. I thought it would be fun to do a baby name bracket on here and see what the “winning” name is. Over the coming days, there will be 8 names pitted against each other in total, with the winning name from each bracket advancing to the next round. As for the middle name, we had one picked out but have since put it aside and will select a middle name based on what goes with the first name we land on.
I voted Stevie. Charlotte is just way to overused and slightly masculine names like Stevie and Billie are not only on trend, but they are strong and sweet. It doesn’t look like it’s gonna win, but it’s a sweet neutral choice.
I like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. It’s elegant and strikes me as a very sweet name. I generally don’t like nicknames as full names or boyish names for girls, sorry.
I adore [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for its literary nod, charm, but mostly for the nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. I do really love [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] as well. Yet, I would find it odd to use [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] if Dad or a Grandfather does not have [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] in their name.
Considering the other names in the poll I voted for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as it feels closer to the other contenders . I also like the nicknames that can encompass [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]- like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] , [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] , Harlo , [name_f]Carly[/name_f] etc
However I absolutely love [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] and have had some really amazing associations! I do know 2 little girls under 2 with this name coincidentally - but one is [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] nn [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]
I like more masculine names for girls and ‘nickname names’, but [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] just isn’t one I like a lot. I voted for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], as it’s a beautiful classic with a wealth of great nn’s (e.g. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], [name_f]Lotta[/name_f], Arlo).
