What do you guys think of the name “[name_f]Eda[/name_f]” (pronounced “EE-dah”, similar to the name “[name_f]Edie[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Eva[/name_f]”/“EE-vuh”)? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think anyone would have a hard time pronouncing it in this spelling?
I also like the name “[name_f]Ada[/name_f]” (“Ay-dah”), but am not a huge fan of it starting with an A.
I quite like it. It seems vintage to me, a la [name_f]Edith[/name_f].

While I do really like [name_f]Edith[/name_f] nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f], when seeing [name_f]Eda[/name_f] I would pronounce it eh-dah, because of [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] which I (and most europeans i know) pronounce eh-vah. I really prefer the eh-dah pronunciation but ee-dah isnt bad. I prefer [name_f]Ada[/name_f] to [name_f]Eda[/name_f] pronounced Ee-dah, unless youre going to call her [name_f]Edie[/name_f] which I find really cute
I say [name_f]Ida[/name_f] as EE-duh, and really like it. I suppose with [name_f]Eda[/name_f] the pronunciation is more obvious, but I’m not sure I would guess that was the spelling if I just heard it out loud. It is a very pretty name! Short but with substance.
It sounds lovely and vintage.
I like it a lot. It turns up on some medieval name lists - a variation of names like [name_m]Edel[/name_m] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] I think.

I pronounce y as E-da / e as in bed / Ee-da would be [name_f]Ida[/name_f] for me. [name_f]Eda[/name_f] is a Persian/Turkish name that means personality/character if I roughly translate it.
I think pronunciation stems a lot from where you live; like [name_f]Eda[/name_f] being ee-dah or eh-dah. [name_f]Ida[/name_f] for some is ee-dah and for me, it is eye-dah (my great-great-grandmother was [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]). It’s not unexpected for it to be pronounced as ee-dah, though, so it shouldn’t be too much trouble, especially once people around her got used to it.
I’d definitely recommend asking people near you to say it, just to see. It’s a great name!
