Baby name help, please!

Help!! I can’t decide on a baby name. My husband and I have chosen the middle name [name]Lawrence[/name]. It’s a family name on both sides which is great. But now we can’t decide on the first name and time is ticking!!! We both have fairly common names and at first we wanted more unusual sounding but now I’m not sure. Here’s the list, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! By the way, the last name is a long [name]German[/name] sounding name so maybe we should avoid having a long first, middle and last name?? Ahh! So many things to think about!!

[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] (does this sound too trendy and therefore, too dated in a few years??)

[name]Felix[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] (makes me smile but I may be the only one)

[name]Miles[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] (due to our love of sports many people may think we’re naming it after a coach, which isn’t the case - we love jazz)

[name]Colin[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] (this is my less exotic name choice but is too common??)

[name]Connor[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] (this is my husband’s less exotic name choice)

[name]Finn[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] (short and sweet but too trendy??)

1 [name]Felix[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]
2 [name]Miles[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]
3 [name]Colin[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]

I noticed you like l’s a lot :). I think the three names above would work best with a long [name]German[/name] name.

My first choice is [name]Miles[/name], hands down. I think the name is simple and strong enough to balance a longer last name. My second choice is [name]Colin[/name]. That is not a very common name in my region of the world. Good luck!

Thanks for your feedback! I think it helps just writing my concerns

I love [name]Miles[/name]. It makes me think of a super sweet little boy. I also really [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Finn[/name]! It is so spunky, but I think it is a bit trendy at the moment.

[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]: I don’t know about the trendiness, but these two names don’t really go together for me.

[name]Felix[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]: I love this one, the only think keeping it from my top choice is the way it sounds with [name]Lawrence[/name]. It doesn’t flow as well for me as…

[name]Miles[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]: This is my top pick. [name]Miles[/name] is not my style, but out of everything on your list I love the way it sounds with [name]Lawrence[/name]. It has a great sound to it.

[name]Colin[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]: I’m not a fan of this one so much. [name]Colin[/name] seems dated and the 2-2 syllables thing is getting me as with [name]Felix[/name], but I don’t like [name]Colin[/name] enough to overcome that.

[name]Connor[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]: I think [name]Connor[/name] is way too trendy, but if this is the one you love don’t let that stop you!

[name]Finn[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]: [name]Finn[/name] is trendy, but not overly so. You could always do [name]Phineas[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] and use [name]Finn[/name] as a nn. This one gets my bronze medal.

[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] - this is by far my favorite! [name]Beckett[/name] is one of my favorites and I think it’s so quirky, fun, and charming. It feels much more timeless than trendy to me, but I do know others feel it’s a bit trendy. I think [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] is great. With a longer, complicated [name]German[/name] surname, I would just make sure to stick to one or two syllables for the FN. Besides, I think [name]Beck[/name] is a fun nickname for a boy and I think that would work even better with a long surname…

[name]Felix[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] - Aw, [name]Felix[/name] makes me smile, too. I think it’s so charming. I love that it means “happy”–maybe that’s why we can’t help but smile? Definitely in my top 3 for you.

[name]Miles[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] - [name]Miles[/name] isn’t really my thing, but I do like the name/nn [name]Milo[/name] and I think this would probably work very well with a longer [name]German[/name] surname. This is probably my fourth pick.

[name]Colin[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] - the "L"s together feel a bit heavy but [name]Colin[/name] is really handsome. This is probably my fifth choice.

[name]Connor[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] - I agree with the pp that [name]Connor[/name] is really trendy. It seems like everyone loves it and I’m tired of hearing it. :frowning: Then again, I have a really negative association to one that colors my view, so I’m probably not the best one to judge this one…

[name]Finn[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] - very sweet. [name]Finn[/name] might be getting trendier, but it seems so classic that I can’t imagine [name]Finn[/name] ever being truly trendy. Popular, yes, but not trendy. I think a longer form, like [name]Finley[/name], [name]Finnian[/name], [name]Finnegan[/name], or [name]Phineas[/name], might be a nice option, too.

Good luck!
