We just have so many names, and can’t narrow it down. I love [name_f]Andie[/name_f], but am worried it’s not girly enough, and parents hate it. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] is really cute, but I’m not sure if I’d name an actual human that. [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is one of my favourite names of all time, but have a close friend called [name_f]Helen[/name_f]- nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is cute, but not sure about it by itself. [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is also on the list, but we’re not in love with it. [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] and [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] are also really pretty, but we think that they’re too cutesy, and kind of like [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], but it’s too harsh. Honestly any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. In case you couldn’t tell, we are quite picky, but names are really important to us.
I think [name_f]Andie[/name_f] is lovely, and the spelling [name_f]Andie[/name_f] makes it feel feminine to me (compared to Andy). Maybe you would like the similar [name_u]Angie[/name_u], [name_f]Mandie[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], or [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]?
I wouldn’t name a real human [name_u]Baby[/name_u], personally, I think it would be awkward to have bosses/teachers calling her [name_u]Baby[/name_u].
I like [name_f]Helena[/name_f] a lot, but I can understand why you wouldn’t want to use a name so similar to a close friend’s. Maybe you would like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Nellie[/name_f], [name_f]Nella[/name_f], [name_f]Janelle[/name_f], or [name_f]Chanel[/name_f] as other ways to get the nickname [name_f]Nell[/name_f]?
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] is sweet. If you’re not completely in love with it, what about the similar names: [name_f]Myla[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], [name_u]Aria[/name_u], [name_f]Lula[/name_f], or Maia/Maya/Mya?
[name_f]Marcie[/name_f] and [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] are nice as well, and I don’t think they’re too cutesy! Maybe you would like [name_f]Marcia[/name_f], [name_f]Marcella[/name_f], or [name_f]Martha[/name_f] as a full name for [name_f]Marcie[/name_f], and [name_f]Darla[/name_f], [name_f]Daria[/name_f], or [name_f]Darcelle[/name_f] as a full name for [name_f]Darcie[/name_f]?
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is cool and not too harsh in my opinion. But, for something similar but a bit softer, what about [name_f]Zara[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Zella[/name_f], [name_f]Zelie[/name_f], or [name_f]Celia[/name_f]?
I hope this helps!
Thank you for the thoughtful response! We’ve added [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] and [name_f]Mina[/name_f] to our list, and took inspiration for [name_f]Marcelle[/name_f]. Still confused, but now with more options.
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Andie[/name_f]?
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] “Nell”
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]
[name_f]Phillipa[/name_f] “Pippa”
[name_u]Andrea[/name_u], [name_f]Andriana[/name_f], [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], [name_f]Andromache[/name_f] can all give you [name_f]Andie[/name_f] nn.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] can all give you [name_f]Nell[/name_f] nn.
I really love [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], but we have a friend named [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] so it’s not one we can use.
Thank you!
I love [name_f]Andie[/name_f] for a girl. It’s so spunky! What about [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] nn [name_f]Andie[/name_f]?
Maybe instead of [name_f]Helena[/name_f]: [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Heloise[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the suggestion of [name_f]Marcella[/name_f]. You could use [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] or [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as a nn.
Here are some other you may like…
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Cerelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Thalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Raya[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] “Mila”
[name_f]Adela[/name_f]
Good luck!
I’m a big fan of [name_f]Andie[/name_f]! I also love [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] and [name_f]Marcie[/name_f]. [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] was what we were going to use if our boy had been a girl.
I think the strong “ar” sound in them stops them being too cutesy plus Darcie/Darcy is unisex
All the best!
I adore [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f], thank you! [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and Daphnia are also gorgeous.
Oh god, [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] or [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] as a boy’s name us perfect!
I love [name_f]Andie[/name_f] too. If you’re unsure as the full name then I also love [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] with nn [name_f]Andie[/name_f].
[name_m]Even[/name_m] with close friend [name_f]Helen[/name_f] I think [name_f]Helena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is lovely and usable. She would mostly be [name_f]Nell[/name_f] so can’t see an issue. I like the idea of [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] as nn for [name_f]Marcelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Marcella[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] but it sounds like it’s not the one for you. [name_f]Zara[/name_f] is gorgeous, and softer sounding?
I wouldn’t worry about [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] sounding too cutesy, if it helps one of the top partners in the accounting firm I used to work for was named [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] and she was great
If you don’t like just [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] you could use [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] as another option to those already offered
[name_f]Andie[/name_f] makes me think of [name_f]Molly[/name_f] Ringwald in [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] in [name_f]Pink[/name_f], so it feels a bit 80s and a bit maybe tomboyish but honestly I think it’s cute for a girl. You could always use [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], [name_f]Andora[/name_f], or [name_u]Andre[/name_u]
I wouldn’t use [name_u]Baby[/name_u] as a given name, it’s a bit too Nobody Puts [name_u]Baby[/name_u] in the Corner, and I’d worry about teasing and workplace harassment
[name_f]Andie[/name_f] feels very gender neutral to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a girl name but I would probably assume it was a boy name.
[name_u]Baby[/name_u] I hate. Cute on a dog maybe. But on an actual human I can’t see [name_u]Baby[/name_u] aging well at all.
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] I think is a great name. I think it works great even if you have a friend named [name_f]Helen[/name_f].
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] is cute but I never know if I should pronounce it my-lah or me-lah.
[name_f]Darcie[/name_f] I like more than [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] but I prefer it with the Y ending.
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] strictly reminds me of the video game character.

I like [name_f]Andie[/name_f]. The most obvious name that comes to mind is [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], which can be pronounced two ways, ANN dree ah or an DRAY ah, which I prefer.
I also like [name_f]Annie[/name_f] as a nickname for longer names like [name_u]Antonia[/name_u], [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] with any of these names and a middle name such as [name_f]Dianne[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Deanne[/name_f], [name_f]Deanna[/name_f], [name_f]Deandra[/name_f], [name_f]Andie[/name_f] would be a logical nickname. For example [name_u]Antonia[/name_u] [name_f]Deanne[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Andie[/name_f].
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is my favorite formal name for nickname [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_f]Nellie[/name_f].
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u], nickname [name_f]Meri[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Amie[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Emi[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Cassie[/name_f], [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] or [name_f]Andie[/name_f]

[name_f]Catherine[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Cate[/name_f], [name_f]Cassie[/name_f]
[name_f]Marielle[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Mari[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Camila[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Mila[/name_f]
