Baby Name Regret

When I was pregnant in 2010 I posted on here with trouble coming up with a name for one of our expected twin daughters. I had always loved [name]Stella[/name] but my husband had vetoed that name. We ended up compromising with [name]Ella[/name]. Her sister’s name is [name]Savanna[/name].

The girls are 16 months old now and I have NEVER felt settled about [name]Ella[/name]'s name. It is just TOO popular. It really bothers me that she has such a common name for some reason. She for certain knows her name now so there’s no way we would change her from being called [name]Ella[/name] but I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for a FULL name that could be shortened to [name]Ella[/name] while still sounds good with her sister [name]Savanna[/name]. Something that could easily be shortened to [name]Ella[/name] as a nickname and avoids being too popular. We have come to meet 2 other Ellas on our very street since having the girls and I hear it everywhere I go.

Please help! My husband is not opposed to changing her full name - it just has to be the right fit.

Thank you

[name]Isabella[/name]/[name]Arabella[/name] etc…

I think [name]Ella[/name] is a GORGEOUS name, but I agree, it is quite common. I also really like [name]Stella[/name]! [name]Hope[/name] this list helps!

Clarieelise has some great choices! To add to those…

[name]Ellery[/name] (or [name]Elery[/name])

Personally, I think [name]Stella[/name] could be nicknamed [name]Ella[/name] just fine and would go nicely with [name]Savannah[/name]. There’s only a tiny difference between the 2 names.

I also think anything that ends in -ella / -elle would be fine.

[name]Do[/name] you like any of those?

Maybe [name]Emmeline[/name], but I see it everywhere on here. Dantea forgot one that is listed in her signature: [name]Amelia[/name].

Also [name]Electra[/name], [name]Elana[/name], [name]Estelle[/name], [name]Delainey[/name] (or variation), [name]Elissa[/name].

Sorry, I tried to find names that were different from the others mentioned.

You could pick anyname, and just move [name]Ella[/name] to the middle spot.
Then it’s a simple “Oh that’s her middle name, we thought it fit her better but didn’t.”

[name]Eliora[/name] (ell-ee-ora) is probably my favourite. I’ve not seen it mentioned yet and its not very common.
[name]Raphaella[/name] is also really nice.

[name]Joella[/name] and [name]Orella[/name] are both pretty obscure at this point.

I think you’re right to change it if it bothers you that much. My mom has regretted my sister’s name since my sister was six months old…knowing what she should have used instead, too, and my sister is turning 26 years old this [name]June[/name]. That’s a long time to think “I wish I had named her [name]Beatrice[/name]!” (In her case)
