To play this game, first go to Popular Baby Names. If that doesn’t work google ssa.gov baby names. Then look up the top 500 names for 2007. Find your baby name sweet spot. Are your favorite baby names in the first top ten? In the first top 100? 200? 300? can you narrow it down to say, 250 - 280? Is your favorite number range for boys really different than your favorite number range for girls?
all of my favorite girl names are in the top 21.
[name]Madison[/name] (5), [name]Sophia[/name] (6), [name]Olivia[/name] (7) [name]Grace[/name] (20) [name]Ella[/name] (21)!
my favorite boy names: [name]Nathan[/name] (24) [name]Aiden[/name] (27) [name]Dylan[/name] (29) and then [name]Max[/name] isn’t until 153.
so for boys it would be top 20-30 for the majority and girls the majority is top 10 or 20.
my girls names are more common than boys
I like…
[name]Alexis[/name] #19
[name]Nicole[/name] #87
[name]Grace[/name] #20
[name]Claire[/name] #66
[name]Lily[/name] #27
[name]Alex[/name] #73
[name]James[/name] #15
[name]Ryan[/name] #16
[name]Aidan[/name] #26
[name]Lucas[/name] #53
My sweet spot is “Not on the charts”:
[name]Maud[/name], [name]Ottilie[/name], [name]Jemima[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Zelda[/name], [name]Lilas[/name], [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Winifred[/name], [name]Matilda[/name].
But the few that are on the list: [name]Edith[/name] (730), [name]Cecilia[/name] (274) and of course, [name]Josephine[/name] (224).
But my boys are the same:
Not on: [name]Rufus[/name], [name]Remy[/name], [name]Cosmo[/name], [name]Barnaby[/name], [name]Ignatius[/name], [name]Caspar[/name], [name]Alasdair[/name], [name]Linus[/name], [name]Harvey[/name],
On:
[name]Bruno[/name] (807), [name]Clarence[/name] (845), [name]Arthur[/name] (374), [name]Oscar[/name] (121), [name]Francis[/name] (615), [name]Edward[/name] (145) & [name]Rafael[/name] (228) /[name]Raphael[/name] (705)
Mine vary quite a bit!

[name]Luca[/name] (313), [name]Milo[/name] (548), [name]Jasper[/name] (471), [name]Winston[/name] (859), [name]Hugo[/name] (398), [name]Emmett[/name] (576), [name]Simon[/name] (258), [name]Felix[/name] (379), [name]Nathanial[/name] (814), [name]August[/name] (607)
If I had to pick a sweet spot I’d say 500-700 for girls, 400-600 for boys
Mine vary hugely!
For girls (in order of their place on the chart): [name]Anna[/name] (25), [name]Zoey[/name] (111), [name]Lucy[/name] (135), [name]Violet[/name] (231), [name]Juliet[/name] (516), [name]Annabella[/name] (568), [name]Carlie[/name] (615) and [name]Rosemary[/name] (720).
And, not on the charts, are [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Cecily[/name], Esm”, [name]Bryony[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Artemis[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Effie[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Roseanna[/name] and [name]Isobel[/name] (although many of it’s variations are).
For boys, I love: [name]Jacob[/name] (1 - although it’s not as popular here in NZ, not even in the top 10), [name]Alexander[/name] (11), [name]James[/name] (15), [name]Charles[/name] (62), [name]Sebastian[/name] (72), [name]Dominic[/name] (85), [name]Seth[/name] (115), [name]Oliver[/name] (140), [name]Leonardo[/name] (164), [name]Elliott[/name] (389), [name]Franklin[/name] (470), [name]Cedric[/name] (590) and [name]Enzo[/name] (658)
And, not on the charts: [name]Caspian[/name], [name]Artemis[/name], [name]Morgyn[/name] (although [name]Morgan[/name] is 405), [name]Horatio[/name], Ignotus and [name]Inigo[/name].
For girls I don’t seem to have a soft spot. For boys, I would say I like the top 200, and then after that it’s random. I did notice that the majority of the names towards the end of the top 1000 were alternate spellings. It would be very interesting to see a list where all the alternate spellings are counted as one name.
Why are we using 2007? I know this is old, but I was still really curious!
GIRLS: My favorite names for girls are [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Eliza[/name]. This puts me at 99-333, but 102-124 for first names.
[name]Julia[/name] (34), [name]Caroline[/name] (99), [name]Charlotte[/name] (102), [name]Lydia[/name] (124), [name]Lucy[/name] (135), [name]Madeleine[/name] (291), [name]Ivy[/name] (301), [name]Eliza[/name] (333), [name]Fiona[/name] (352), [name]Jane[/name] (423), [name]Arabella[/name] (648)
I went ahead and did other names I like for girls, too: [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Julia[/name], and [name]Ivy[/name]…
BOYS: My favorite names for boys are [name]Henry[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]James[/name], which puts me at 15-301, but 82-91 for first names.
[name]James[/name] (15), [name]Nathaniel[/name] (82), [name]Henry[/name] (91), [name]Theodore[/name] (301)
Although I like names represented all over the top 500, the majority (about 18 each for boys and girls) were in the top 100:(
[name]Vivienne[/name] (383), [name]Moira[/name] (994), [name]Madeline[/name] (85), [name]Gabriella[/name] (34) & [name]Alice[/name] (142)
[name]Dalton[/name] (276), [name]William[/name] (3), [name]Isaac[/name] (35), [name]Desmond[/name] (351) & [name]Nolan[/name] (104)
So I’m a complete nerd and came up with my mean of popularity for boys and girls and the names for those numbers were [name]Gage[/name] & [name]Annabella[/name], oddly I’m not fond of either.
