Baby Name Too Weird?

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I really like the name [name_m]Caius[/name_m] for our baby boy, but I am worried that it is a little to unusual. I grew up with an uncommon name and I found it very challenging so I am a bit overly-sensitized about names that aren’t super common.
For context, our daughter is named [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and our first choice boy name was [name_m]Luke[/name_m] (before it was vetoed by my mom).

Thanks!

I agree with @katkabet. If you love it, go for it. It may take a time or two for people to get it, but it’s a great name and IMO should be used more often.

Zoe & [name_m]Caius[/name_m] would work well together.

I don’t think [name_m]Caius[/name_m] is too out there. It’s similiar enough to the popular [name_u]Kai[/name_u] that it feels familiar

Agree with the above posters. [name_m]Caius[/name_m] is unusual but short, uncomplicated and contains very familiar sounds. I love the complementary meanings of [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_m]Caius[/name_m] as well.

I do think that [name_m]Luke[/name_m] is lovely too. Does your mom have a strong personal reason for not liking it or is it just not her favourite? In my experience, grandparents often raise an eyebrow or two at their prospective grandchildren’s names, but grow to love them once they’re attached to their precious grandchild.

Not too weird at all. Unexpected with sister [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] but not unusable. And it’s a nice name.

It’s not a common name but not weird either! I’ve heard it used several times

I don’t think its too weird but it’s definitely weird next to [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I think you and he, when hes older, would have to repeat his name a lot since it would be uncommon.

i like it! i think it works with zoe even though the popularity is different. zoe & caius sounds great together!

I think [name_m]Caius[/name_m] is in the sweet spot of “heard before, but not too much”. I love that it’s Latin and literary, and the meaning is so cute. I think it pairs really nicely with sister [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], as well ~! :two_hearts:

I love it. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the meaning. I think it sounds great with [name_f]Zoe[/name_f].

Caius and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] go so well together! I don’t think [name_m]Caius[/name_m] is too weird a name at all. The sounds are familiar enough (think [name_u]Kai[/name_u] and [name_m]Marcus[/name_m]/Elias/Amos) to not be overly confusing for people.

Hi there.

I’m loving [name_m]Caius[/name_m] & [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] together. [name_m]Caius[/name_m] isn’t too weird at all. It’s unique, but not terribly complicated. It feels strong & handsome. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_m]Caius[/name_m] is [name_m]Roman[/name_m] & [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is Greek, they both have an ancient language vibe, you know?

Hope this helps.
