Baby name twin

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys I love reading the forums and this is my first time posting. I’m 8.5 weeks pregnant with twins and we thought of the following names if it is a boy and a girl.

[name_f]Isobella[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_m]Immanuel[/name_m] [name_m]Mathis[/name_m]

What do you guys think?

Our last name is [name_m]Williams[/name_m]!

I’m not that certain about [name_m]Immanuel[/name_m].

Also what are the thoughts on having 3 names. I have three names and always thought the third was unnecessary. We wanted beautiful and strong sounding names with spiritual meanings. I’d love to hear any suggestions or comments.

Thanks!

Congrats on the twins-- very exciting! These names are probaby too similar or matchy for me and [name_m]Immanuel[/name_m] is not my style, but they are nice names and you could do nns to distringuish them more-- maybe [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and [name_m]Manny[/name_m]. One other thing to think about, [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] (or some variant) is pretty common and [name_m]Immanuel[/name_m] is not so you might want to look at something more similar in terms of popularity-- [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] or [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] are probably more similar in that way. Three names are completely optional-- some people like them and some do not.

Thanks so much for your comprehensive reply … I’m going to study your ideas lol

I am not so familiar with [name_m]Immanuel[/name_m] to comment. I’ll leave it to other posters who know more. I have nothing negative to say, [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] is more well known and its a good name.
I do love [name_f]Isobella[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. Its beautifully classic and that’s something that needs to be carried on.
Really from what I see, choosing three names is personal and we seem to be past the attitude of ‘what do you need them for’. If you love three names go ahead - the children’s name would not be too long e.g.
Really loving [name_f]Isobella[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f].

Congrats on your pregnancy! [name_f]Isobella[/name_f] and [name_m]Immanuel[/name_m] are lovely names, but I wonder if they would get confused for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] a lot, which are much more popular and familiar. (Not that it makes them unusable- I know people with far more complicated names and they don’t mind- but some people would be turned off by that.) They’re definitely both beautiful names though, with strong spiritual meanings, so in that sense fits the bill as to what you’re looking for.

As to having three names. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you mean three given names (one first name, two middles, one last name) or three names in total (first, middle, last)? You definitely don’t need to give your child a middle name, but I know a number of people who don’t have one (just first and last name) and there are far more who don’t have one and wish they did, than who have one and wish they didn’t, so I would encourage you to give them one. If you mean three given names, some people find it a hassle, others aren’t all that bothered. For me there are some combos where I prefer two middles and some I prefer one, but you definitely don’t need to give them two middles unless you have a particular reason e.g. really loving the name, to honour family, etc.

I would prefer the [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] spelling, I think it’s gorgeous and underused and if you’re a [name_m]Christian[/name_m], even better because it holds a lot of religious meaning and relation to [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] [name_m]Christ[/name_m].

As for [name_f]Isobella[/name_f] - I don’t like this spelling. I would go with either [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. Either way, though more common than your boy name of choice, it’s a beautiful name.

Ok thanks great points!
