Baby Names Debate! Too similar to family

Hello all!

We are expecting, 18 weeks! We hopefully will find out what little nugget is; until them, we speculate names on both ends!

There is a lot of kiddos in the family, and we don’t want to have same name or too similar…

For example, names we like but cannot have:

Boys: [name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], [name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_m]Derek[/name_m]

Girls: [name_u]Kora[/name_u], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_u]Sidney[/name_u], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]

We also like:

[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] (4 girls I went to high school with named their boys this… too much at reunion to say, “Oh my boy has the same name!”? I don’t see them often but the connection is there…)

[name_f]Callie[/name_f] (too similar to sister-in-law name)

[name_u]Ryan[/name_u] (too cutsey RR monogram with last name?)

Our last name is quite long and unique, I have to spell it twice and say it three times to be understood lol. Starts with R, 4 syllables, has ‘elk’ ‘key’ and a couple b’s in there.

Thank you all!!

I think [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] is ok! I like alliteration, and if your last name is long and complex, it should pair nicely with short and easy-to-spell [name_u]Ryan[/name_u].

[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] - I think it’s fine if you went to high school with them. At most, reunions every 5-10 years, and they will get more distant as you grow older as well. I wouldn’t worry about it. Unless you are worried about popularity, but it doesn’t sound like you are from your post.

Other ideas:
Boys: [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], [name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], [name_m]Victor[/name_m], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_u]Camden[/name_u], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]

Unisex: [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], - really recommend looking through the unisex names lists!

Girls: [name_f]Zora[/name_f] / [name_f]Zara[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] (probably too close to [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]), [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Kylie[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Corinne[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. For girls you seem to like the C/K sound, I suggest looking through those lists!

Congratulations, that’s so exciting!

I really don’t think that [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] would be an issue.

Boys: [name_m]Connor[/name_m], [name_m]Clark[/name_m], [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Brock[/name_m], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Garret/name_m, [name_u]Bryce[/name_u], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_m]Duncan[/name_m], [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]

Girls: [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_f]Noa[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], [name_f]Cadence[/name_f], [name_f]Candace[/name_f], [name_u]Allison[/name_u], [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], [name_f]Kayla[/name_f], [name_f]Alexa[/name_f], [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_u]Josie[/name_u], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Paige[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f]

I definitely agree that you should look through lists of unisex names.
