There is a tag going around on youtube called the “baby names I love, but can’t use” tag. I thought it would be kind of fun (or depressing…depends on how you look at it) to share the names you love, but can’t use for one reason or another. All of the names I’ll list have either already been used by friends or family or they are names that have been tainted by someone. (bad associations)

[name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] - bf would not use bc they are his best friends’ names

Also - [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] was my number 1 girl name choice but now with the movie Frozen, its getting way too popular. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] was my other top choice but now that is megapopular as well. Since my name, [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], is more rare/unique - it is important to me to have a not-too-popular name for my girls.
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]/[name_f]Carolina[/name_f] - I looove both of these, but my step-father’s ex-wife was named [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and my mother is absolutely against me ever using either. She says it would be like honoring his ex-wife, who I’ve never met and don’t really care about and I’ve loved [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] for years and didn’t know about the association until I told my mom I loved the name.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - I used to love it, but I know a little girl named [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] who has completely put me off the name.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - I loved it when I was younger, because I loved [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Doolittle and [name_f]My[/name_f] Fair Lady, but I met an [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] who put me off the name as well.

All pets names (mostly miniature belted [name_m]Galloway[/name_m] cows, but [name_m]Beau[/name_m] was my pet border collie when I was little, and he was hit by a taxi. I would never use this, because my super macho dad still tears up every time he hears the name, even on someone elses child. I wouldn’t want to do that to my Dad.).

When it was just from the books it was more doable, because not that many people were as familiar with it, now it’s so tied to the show. But I do love it, so I’d still use it I think.
