Once I was talking to a friend of the family and she was expecting her first grandchild in the coming month. They were expecting a girl. She shared with me that had picked out the name [name]Gillian[/name], and that they got their inspiration from [name]Jillian[/name] Michaels since the couple had bonded when going through her fitness regimen… “That is where the name came from, but they don’t plan on telling her that when she gets older.”
So, my question is does anyone else have any stories of not-so-great name inspirations, to the point that they will most likely not be sharing it with the child?
(Of course, everyone on their site names their children with great care so mostly, I just mean of those people you know.)
Well, the name [name]Caroline[/name] (as much as I hate to admit it) comes from a girl who does drugs. I do not like her personality or her use of her free-time, but I really like her name. And both myself and my husband have agreed on that name for a girl. We definitely won’t be telling her that when she gets older.
Well, I kind of have an opposite story… my friends apparently were going to use a name I like ([name]Braden[/name]) but decided against it because the dad knew a guy in high school with this name that was a big stoner. I’m kinda sad about it because first of all, I’ve always loved the name (though probably wouldn’t use it now because of the -aden trend), but also because she always wanted a kid with this name and call him [name]Brady[/name]. They ended up going with [name]Kaeden[/name]…
Oh, funny story. My fiance’s middle name is [name]Van[/name]. There was always an ongoing joke about where that middle name came from (like that’s where he was conceived). Well, I finally asked his mom about it. I guess she and her aunt were thinking of middle names and decided they liked [name]Van[/name] because [name]Van[/name] Halen sounded cool. I thought that was pretty hilarious!
Probably the worst on my list is [name]Isabelle[/name]. I got it from Alias… I was going through a dark time in my life and TV shows and watching their lives unfold kind of helped me to feel something again, and I was really into Alias at the time. [name]Isabelle[/name] just hit me and I’ve loved it ever since. So it’s probably not that bad and I may eventually tell my daughter about it, lol, but the reasons I love it now have virtually nothing to do with the reasons I used to love it! When I think of [name]Isabelle[/name], I never think of Alias. I haven’t thought of that for months, if not a year, haha.
A few others (like [name]Arianne[/name], [name]Josiah[/name], etc.) I lifted from announcements of [name]Christian[/name] rockstar’s baby’s birth announcements on Twitter and stuff, lol. Mainly from my favorite bands. Maybe not the best, lol, but some of them have really great names! So I don’t mind too much. haha.
I know a little boy that was named [name]Paris[/name] because that’s where he was conceived… his mom thought it was such a touching story and was proud of it, but I cringed inside when she told me, lol. The whole naming the child after where (s)he was conceived just seems so tacky and embarrassing to me, lol.
I dont see what’s shameful about [name]Jillian[/name] but I dont know who [name]Jillian[/name] Michaels is, it sounds like the couple bonded over something meaningful and found it inspiring so I think it’s nice
I know a girl who was almost named after [name]Stevie[/name] Nicks but for some reason her mom thought it was a bad idea and she wishes her mom had stuck with it lol
I love the name [name]Jean[/name], particularly because it’s one of the few suggestions that my husband’s actually brought to the table… it’s near the top of my list, but he admitted to me that he likes [name]Jean[/name] because of [name]Jean[/name] [name]Grey[/name] from the X-Men… hahaha.
Hah, I’ve known a few stories like that… My parents have always joked they were going to call me Malaysia and Penang because of that, luckily they did not!
If I remember correctly [name]Bryce[/name] [name]Dallas[/name] [name]Howard[/name]'s mn is [name]Dallas[/name] because that’s where she was conceived. For some reason as a mn it doesnt bother me.
