I cannot thank this forum enough; my fellow NBs have been incredibly instrumental in helping us pick our 1st three kids names. Now baby no 4 will join us in a few weeks, and, in typical style we are having trouble narrowing down our choices. We have a boy name already locked in ([name_m]Hugo[/name_m]) but cannot decide on a name for a girl. Here’s the two choices:
to join big brother [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_u]Carson[/name_u] and twin siblings [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] & [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] (our last name sounds like “kingston”). I am really grateful to any of thos who take the time to offer thoughts, and, like the previous two deliveries, I will post pics in the new baby section.
Those are lovely choices - congrats! If you want to keep the two syllable theme going, I’d say choose [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]! If you want the best sister-name pair with [name_f]Lila[/name_f], I’d choose [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]! I like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] better on a baby, but [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] more on a grown lady…what a tough choice! Are the kids old enough that you can take a family poll?
And FWIW - I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is easier to say than [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Any chance you both like a ‘variation on an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] theme’ and might use [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] instead? [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] is very elegant!
Those are both great names. I think [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] sounds better with the middle name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] sounds better with your other kids names.
I really do like the name [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] fits better with your other children’s names and with your surname.
I personally like the name [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] more because it is very elegant and classy sounding. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] sounds good when you say it out loud. It simply flows. A cute nn could be [name_f]Cece[/name_f] when she is younger.
I personally prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] over [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] because that a sound at the end adds a touch of softness (maybe I feel like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is hard because of the long e and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is more mellow because if the short sound:confused:).
Beautiful subset and if love how you matched your twins names. Good luck!
I absolutely love both names! I prefer [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] just a bit, but both fit your sibset beautifully! I’d keep both and see which one fits the baby. Congrats!
Thank you all so very much for the input. Relieved to hear we’re on the right track. BTW if anyone should read this and feel strongly AGAINST either name…please let me know, I have really thick skin and would rather know now than later. Wife is now at 38 1/2 weeks so should be soon (we’ll probably end up undecided, as usual, even when she starts labor). I’m so glad for this forum. Best Regards, JK
I really love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]! [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is nice too but I love how vintage sweet [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is.
Vote for [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is cute but [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is just perfection.
You all have such great taste in names! I really like both of your choices but have to say I adore [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]! It’s so lovely and underused!
Thanks so very much to all who took the time to reply. And a huge thank you to Mousehouse7 who had a most wonderful suggestion of middle name - my wife & I both love it and welcomed our fourth daughter [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] this morning at 11:28 MDT. She weighed 8 lbs 4 oz and is perfect just like her mom. Older sibs [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_u]Carson[/name_u], [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u], & [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] are excited to meet her. Best Regards, [name_m]Jason[/name_m]
