Needing some help on naming baby no.4, my other children’s names are quite matchy, not intentional but they were my favourite names at the time.
This will be our last baby and struggling to find a name that we love.
Our other children are called Archie, Sophie & Rosie, should we keep the ie ending ? Finding it hard to find a Boy name that we love…
List so far:
Girl’s
Millie
Jessica
Isla
Charlotte / Lottie
Boy’s
Lachlan n.n. Lockie
Freddie
Henry
Rory (love this but far too similar with Rosie)
We are Scottish and live in Scotland and our surname begins with R.
My other children’s middle names are David, William, Anne, Willow and Annabel (all family names) so I wouldn’t want to reuse these for this baby.
I think you could go for something that fits in, but doesn’t necessarily follow the exact same pattern. [name_m]Henry[/name_m], from your list, is a perfect option! As is a name with an -ie nickname, like [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] “Lockie”.
Although, if you do want to stick with the -ie theme, [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is pure perfection! I love it for you!
Other boy suggestions:
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_u]George[/name_u] “Georgie”
[name_u]Joey[/name_u] or [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] “Joey”
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_u]Oliver[/name_u] “Ollie”
[name_u]Reilly[/name_u] or [name_u]Remy[/name_u] (alternatives to Rory?)
[name_u]Wesley[/name_u]
For a girl, I love [name_f]Millie[/name_f] or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] “Lottie” for you – both would be perfect in your set! [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would work, too, but I think [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] stands out a bit from the others as it’s longer and has a completely different vibe.
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] or [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] or [name_f]Edith[/name_f] “Edie”
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Eve[/name_f] “Evie”
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (a bit longer, but fits the bright, cheery vibe of the others)
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] (could be “Janie” or just Jane)
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_u]Marie[/name_u] (a twist with the emphasis placed in the ‘ie’ instead of the first syllable)
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] or [name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
I adore your kids names! I think that ie ending would be a fun thing to keep going, but if it’s causing you any stress I think that it is totally fine to go with a name that you love.
Out of the names that you have I love [name_f]Millie[/name_f], Charlotte/Lottie, [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]!
Here are some suggestions that end in the ie sound, but some of them don’t necessarily end in ie: (please count any repeats as seconds)
Names that don’t end in the ie sound but they fit with your other kids!
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
Once you have 3 kids ending in ie and 2 syllables. it becomes a pattern and if you name your fourth something that doesn’t end in ie and have 2 syllables, then they could potentially feel left out.
[name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and
Congratulations!!
I really like [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] , [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] with [name_m]Archie[/name_m] , [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] hesitation with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is popularity and also the ties to the royal family. I’m not sure anyone else would think about that though
I think it would be nice to continue to ie ending pattern. From your list, Millie, Lottie and Freddie would fit well. Some other ideas: Emmie, Junie, Eddie, Jamie, Laurie, Mattie
[name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] are my favourites for you!
In my opinion, they aren’t too close especially with [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] between them, but them I asked my sister and she said they were. Oh well!
Boy names are harder for me as well, so I feel your pain
