Hubby and I are thinking about trying for baby number three. I feel like I’ve always had girl names down but since the first two kids were boys, the girl names I loved were a little “replaced” by the sons’ names.
Son number 1 (Levi Joseph) would’ve been Maeve Josephine
Son number 2 (Griffin Cole) would’ve been Madeline Colette.
I still love Maeve and Madeline but don’t love the repeating V sound in Levi and Maeve or the repeating -in sound in Griffin and Madeline. Also, I want something short and spunky to go with Levi and Griffin.
I’ve always had a strong love for Tessa, but want to use Eleanor as an honor name. Is Tessa Eleanor too rhyme-y?
Other names I love:
Isla - are Isla and Levi too close? Also, same issue with Isla Eleanor
Maeve Eleanor - still love this and could get over the repeating V sound with Levi and Maeve
Della - Della Eleanor doesn’t work
Other honor names could be:
Diane/Diana
Annette (mom, myself and MIL all have Anne in our name)
Eileen (the reason I liked Isla as a nod)
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] sounds great to me! I also love [name_f]Isla[/name_f] for you, but I’d probably pick another middle for it. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is a bit tongue-twistery.
The first name to spring to mind with your boys’ names was Margo(t)! [name_u]Levi[/name_u], [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] sound fabulous together, and I think it’s sweet that it picks up the Ma- sounds you liked if your boys had been girls.
Another idea could be [name_f]Nella[/name_f] — super cute and cool, sounds and feels like [name_f]Della[/name_f], and honours [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (Nell/Nellie is a traditional nickname).
I also thought of [name_f]Freya[/name_f] for you. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would be gorgeous, plus [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Diana[/name_f] are both important goddesses for a very stretchy connection there too.
I think [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] still works. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_u]Levi[/name_u] have very different vibes and sounds to me and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is a wonderful name
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is a teeny bit rhymey but not too much at all and I actually really like it! [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f], or [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Annette[/name_f] would work too
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] is sweet and I like @Katinka’s suggestion of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]! And her idea of Nella/Nell - that popped into my mind too
A few other suggestions with [name_u]Levi[/name_u] and [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] could be:
Firstly good luck with TTC #3 sending baby dust your way
Okay so I think [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] works definitely not too rhymey at all. I think [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is absolutely stunning I would definitely overlook the shared v sound for that absolutely amazing name
Looking at your other contenders I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is absolutely fine with [name_u]Levi[/name_u] but the flow with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is a bit jarring. I also agree about [name_f]Della[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] not working I did immediately think [name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] which I think works really nicely with similar feels to [name_f]Della[/name_f].
I was just wondering have you looked at using an [name_u]Anne[/name_u] name to honour all the three major women in your daughters life! Would be a shame to miss up on that opportunity considering you all have a shared name. I absolutely love [name_u]Anne[/name_u] she deserves more usage and I think feels cool next to [name_u]Levi[/name_u] & [name_u]Griffin[/name_u]. [name_u]Anne[/name_u] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] I think works. [name_u]Or[/name_u] for a vintage nickname golden ticket name maybe [name_f]Annie[/name_f]? [name_f]Annie[/name_f] feels very cool and works well with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] & your boys. I also like [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Anais[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and maybe even [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
Would you consider [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] as a first name? [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Annette…lots of possibilities!
I think that [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] works great w/Levi & [name_u]Griffin[/name_u]. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is sweet too, but maybe doesn’t go as well. It’s not bad though. Especially if you like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisy[/name_f].
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is lovely! [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] is adorable too. It’s spunky & sporty & just the right amount of feminine. It’s easy & well known but fairly underused.
I agree that [name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_u]Levi[/name_u] are a bit close. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is beautiful, but it’s awfully over done these days too. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] sounds totally fine to me.
[name_f]Della[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] doesn’t work as well…Della [name_f]Diane[/name_f] is kind of cute. [name_f]Della[/name_f] [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] is fine too. I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Della[/name_f], but it’s not unpleasant & fits in with [name_u]Levi[/name_u] & [name_u]Griffin[/name_u].
I think combining Maeve+ Madeline= [name_f]Meline[/name_f] [name_f]Annette[/name_f] (May-Lean)
You seem to like the [name_f]May[/name_f] sound and the V is the only thing holding you off.
I think [name_f]Mae[/name_f] by its self is fine [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Mamie[/name_f] [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] could work too.
I think [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] sounds good together so that’s my favorite for you. I do also really like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] if you didn’t mind doing two middle names [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]?
Other suggestions: (I think these sound good with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] in the middle)
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_u]Camille[/name_u]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
These could maybe have [name_f]Diane[/name_f] or another middle name:
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is lovely. I don’t think it sounds rhymey at all.
I don’t think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is too similar to [name_u]Levi[/name_u].
Personally [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is one of my favorite names, so [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is my favorite combo.
What about [name_f]Maelys[/name_f], [name_f]Mabli[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], or [name_f]Maren[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] to avoid the “v” sound if it bothers you?
