[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all!
We have baby number 5 on the way and are struggling to come up with a middle name. We have three boys and a girl currently and this is to be our second girl.
Our boys all have family names for middles but our girl has a name I just love, with no ties to family at all. I’d like this for our second girl as well, just a spunky name but we are struggling to come up with something.
Our new arrivals first name will probably be [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] unless we find something we like more. This has been on our name list from the very start so I don’t think it will change.
Our surname ends with and ‘e’ sound so names ending with ley are generally out. I do like [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_f]Loxley[/name_f] but this has too much ‘e’ sound with surname.
Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated!
Hi @katinka and thank you!
You’re on point with [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] but I have a niece with the first name so it’s out unfortunately. I do also like [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] but I’m not sure about it, it comes with get connotations of ‘golden child’ or favourite in my mind…
I really like how all of your kids have the same eithere letter [w/u] or vowel sound [aw/uh] more or less. Most have a “w”, and Loretta, phonetically almost does too (Lauretta) [law-retta].
Loretta …
Quinn … woops just saw the other comments about this one!
Kinsley … I know, it ends in -ey! But I thought it might be a potential answer to Quinn, above.

(I’m not sure I hit the mark with any of the L names… These were pretty challenging, but I wanted to at least give it a try!)
Wow @LynnG there’s a lot there, [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] has been on the list for a long time I’m just not too sure if it’s too plain and my husband doesn’t really like it. I do like the alliteration.
I did come across [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] again this morning which I think was on one of my lists previously, which is sort of like [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] you’ve mentioned. Then there’s [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] but not sure how the two ‘a’s at the end go together?
I like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] too but it’s probably not one I’d ever use.
Thanks for your input!
@Bellablue I think any of the -line or -lyn names would pair wonderfully with [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]. I also prefer them over -lina, given the double -a ending with [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], because it makes it rather singsongy.
Hi, I love your children’s names! When you mentioned liking [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], I just wanted to throw [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] into the mix Also there’s [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_u]Delaine[/name_u] to add a bit of interest to [name_u]Laine[/name_u]. [name_f]Adalane[/name_f] combines to two!
