Our baby girl will be here in less than a month. We aren’t planning to have more children as she’s our 4th daughter. Big sisters are [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_f]Briar[/name_f]. We’ve chosen two combos [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], however we are having second thoughts. Again!
While I like [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_u]Lake[/name_u] is my favorite name. Is [name_u]Lake[/name_u] too bad to be a first name? If we name her [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u], I will be calling her [name_u]Lake[/name_u] anyway.
Our second choice is [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. I’ve never been a big fan of [name_f]Liv[/name_f], but my hubby likes it. We were also thinking about [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_u]Poet[/name_u]. [name_u]Poet[/name_u] is the only name we both like as much as [name_u]Lake[/name_u].
I love [name_u]Lake[/name_u] and [name_u]Poet[/name_u] and I am having a hard time let them go. Would it be weird if I used one of them as our baby’s first name? My husband laughed when I started this topic again and suggested using [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_u]Poet[/name_u]. He was joking but I really like this combo. Am I going crazy?
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_u]Poet[/name_u] is a bit wordy for me but [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f] is lovely!!
[name_f]May[/name_f] I also suggest [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Josette[/name_f],[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] and [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Josette[/name_f], [name_f]Posy[/name_f], [name_f]Lois[/name_f] and [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] came to mind as alternatives to [name_u]Poet[/name_u].
I like [name_u]Lake[/name_u] as a first name but don’t love [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_u]Poet[/name_u] with double word names. What about
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Selene[/name_f]
All the combos with [name_u]Lake[/name_u] as a first name strike me as places - like I imagine [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], etc. as a place I’d want to visit, not a person.
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] also just strikes me as so stark next to sisters [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], and [name_f]Briar[/name_f] - all three are lush, soft, and multi-syllabic. [name_u]Lake[/name_u] seems a bit stiff in comparison.
I’m not really a fan of [name_f]Liv[/name_f], for the same reasons, but I think it works better with the sibset than [name_u]Lake[/name_u]. [name_f]Serena[/name_f] seems perfect, though!
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] is beautiful with her sisters!! And I think it’s fine to go by her middle and if she decides later in life she wants to go by [name_f]Serena[/name_f], there is still that option
Go with [name_u]Lake[/name_u]! Its lovely and I think it fits in nicely with your daughters.
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f] is beautiful
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] is my favorite. It’s gorgeous and sounds perfect with the siblings. Calling her by her middle name is cute, I don’t think it’s bland at all.
My personal taste leans more to [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] or [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. But, if you are seriously considering [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_u]Poet[/name_u] try to speak with your husband about it again. You said they were both of your favorites so I’m not sure why he wouldn’t like them together. Unless I read it wrong and they are only your favorites.
Either way, speak to him again and see what you both love. It honestly might be hormones or cold feet since this is your last baby.
Congratulations and I hope you settle on a name soon !
Since this is your last baby I want to tell you to use your favourites, because this is your last chance, so don’t waste the opportunity on something you don’t love if you can help it.
BUT [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_u]Poet[/name_u] sounds to me like the name of a body of water. And [name_u]Poet[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] doesn’t flow as nicely with your sibset. So I’m wondering how you feel about a double middle for your last baby. Splitting up the word names would really help with flow and solve the body of water problem imo.
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_u]Poet[/name_u]
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_u]Poet[/name_u] (you still have [name_f]Liv[/name_f] in there too)
Something about the double middle just changes how I read it. Like with a slight pause after [name_u]Lake[/name_u], which makes me feel it’s less the name of a lake.
Either way talk to him again and let him know [name_u]Lake[/name_u] and [name_u]Poet[/name_u] are on the table for first names. See what he says. Good luck!
While I love [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] I also think [name_u]Poet[/name_u] makes a good first name. [name_u]Poet[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. I’m not so keen on [name_u]Lake[/name_u] in the first position though I like it in the middle.
Australian singer [name_u]Casey[/name_u] Chambers has a daughter called [name_u]Poet[/name_u]. She has named her clothing label [name_f]Poetry[/name_f] in her honour.
I really like lake and poet but somehow together they seem a bit short and sharp.
I also agree that lake with any middle name seems like a place.
I like the suggestion of two middles to break it up. [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f] poet maybe?
However poet makes me think of my other favourite [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f], and I thought maybe that might be a bridge, like [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] instead of [name_f]Serena[/name_f] lake, or lake [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f], instead of [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_u]Poet[/name_u].
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] seems like a good option. It gives her both a first name that is compatible with her sisters if that ends up mattering to her, but it also lets you call her by the name you love.
Personally [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_u]Poet[/name_u] is a bit too wordy for me, but I love [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_u]Poet[/name_u]! Neither seem too unusual imo for the first name spot - you could easily use either one up front! Maybe [name_u]Poet[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f]?
As both [name_u]Poet[/name_u] and [name_u]Lake[/name_u] are favourites for both of you, and you’d call her [name_u]Lake[/name_u] (or [name_u]Poet[/name_u]?) regardless of her first name, using one as the actual first name seems your best bet.
I think both [name_u]Lake[/name_u] & [name_u]Poet[/name_u] work well alone, as well as with sisters [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] & [name_f]Briar[/name_f] (particularly [name_u]Poet[/name_u] - what a swoon-worthy sister-set that would be!). My favourite combo based on this would definitely be [name_u]Poet[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] – it’s just divine!
[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f] would also work (personally, I’m just not as keen on [name_f]Serena[/name_f]). [name_u]Lake[/name_u] also seems to take on the middle and become the ‘name of a lake’, which I’m also not as keen on.
