Hello, berries. I’m in need of some girl name suggestions for our last name ([name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]) as my only favorite is [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and my husband’s is [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and I really want to consider everything before making a decision. I really love names with repeating sounds not like I would call my girl [name_u]Skye[/name_u] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] but as the huge theatre nerd I am, I look up to performer’s names a lot (and even chatacters, i’ll admit it) and I love when they have repeating sounds in them (Think [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] and [name_u]Corey[/name_u] Cott with the J’s and C’s [name_u]Corey[/name_u] even has a repeating O sound even thouth it’s not exactly the same. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_m]Kendrick[/name_m] where the “[name_f]Ann[/name_f]” sound is in both names, [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]McArthur[/name_m] with the M’s and I’s sounds, [name_f]Laura[/name_f] Lobo and also a little girl I met at my daughter’s school called [name_f]Malia[/name_f] McAllister, a name that I became immediately obsessed with) I think the repeating sounds are extremely melodic and I really want that feeling for my little girl, thing is I’m pretty aware of the fact that not only repeating sounds can get that effect and that’s why I need your help. Can you suggest us some names? Repeating sounds or not, I would really love to have some suggestions and I also don’t really mind matching the names of both our daughters so I just want a pretty and melodic sounding name.
For now we have:
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]
Edit: Now also considering Ella!
And sister is [name_f]Kara[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u].
I love that you’re thinking along these lines! So many people seem to be afraid of the surname sounding a little too well with the first name, but I agree with you- it looks so cool and has a lot of oomph and memorability!
I would advise against [name_f]Claire[/name_f], however, because [name_f]Kara[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f] sound VERY similar- [name_f]Kara[/name_f] is just a letter away from [name_f]Klara[/name_f] and two letters away from [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. And saying “[name_f]Kara[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f]! [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Kara[/name_f]!” over and over seems like it might get tiring.
I love [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] however and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it with [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]. It’s very stylish and it’s got a dramatic flair.
I honestly love it when the name and surname have some resemblance. As I said not like [name_u]Skye[/name_u] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] or [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] but a little bit doesn’t hurt anyone. And I agree, it makes it more memorable and easy to say.
I love the name [name_f]Claire[/name_f], I really do but the reason it’s not on my list is because of our girl [name_f]Kara[/name_f], I don’t think it would be nice even though I’m not really into “matching” sibling names, we honestly don’t need to get the girls confused with names that sound so much alike.
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is a name I never considered until the day I watched a movie trailer and heard the girl say “I’m [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]” I thought it sounded so beautiful it immediately got a place on my top 3.
I love [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Sofie[/name_f], Candace, [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (I was considerind [name_f]Lila[/name_f] too and never even thought of [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] even tho it’s pretty close, love it! Thank you!) and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. Thank you so much.
I agree with the pp that [name_f]Claire[/name_f], while lovely, is a bit close to [name_f]Kara[/name_f]. [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] seems like a great choice, though!
Out of the newer suggestions, [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] seems like a great fit in terms of repeating sounds that don’t go overboard into rhyming territory. It sounds very memorable and melodious to me–I find it quite stunning, actually!
Thank you! I’m also loving [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] as I thought of [name_f]Lila[/name_f]/[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] before. And your suggestion of [name_f]Lola[/name_f] too
as that’s one of my favorite nn’s options for [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. I’m still not a 100% sure about [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] tho, I’m scared it’ll sound a bit too serious. I want to name them with a name that allows them to be a doctor, a preschool teacher, a lawyer or a hollywood actor, anything they want, not that there’s a name that forbids you to be one of these but coming from a former actress who used to make a living out of regional theatre but used a stage name because her name basically yelled doctor, I think it’s something I want to consider too. [name_f]Kara[/name_f]'s name was pretty easy for me, named her after an actress both me and my husband love and know as such a sweet and grounded person and it happens to sound (at least for me) like the “neutral” name I’m looking for baby #2. (I ask a little too much don’t, I? Lol)
I do have you agree with you, that repeating sounds can be very attractive! Not too much, but I tend to like very L heavy names paired together, of two names both ending in -a together.
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] (I like this one!)
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]
First thing that came to mind was [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]. I think it sounds phenomenal, and is a nod to your love of Broadway stars ([name_f]Stella[/name_f] means “star”, and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is a famous character in “A Streetcar Named Desire”, a play!). It also has the “el” sound from [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. And she would have a matching “a” ending with sister [name_f]Kara[/name_f], which is satisfying.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] was at the top of my list until now but then I gave up on it and decided on going with [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] instead, reason being the popularity it gained thanks to [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m]. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] “[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]” [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] is quite a famous character/person now among the younger generation thanks to that musical and I really don’t want my baby to have that exact same name (I already named my first one after an actress, I think I did enough already LOL) but it is an amazing name, bright, spunky, and ageless (at least I think of it that way). I love [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] too, but they’re not exactly my style and I love the suggestion of [name_f]Ida[/name_f] as I was thinking [name_f]Isla[/name_f] too. Thank you so much.
If you are a theater nerd you must be familiar with [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m]! There’s a whole song about “The [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] Sisters.” their names are [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] and [name_f]Peggy[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] would be perfect for you since it has similar sound to [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] shares the long “I” sound with [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] is lovely (and the character and historical figure’s married name was [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m], so she is more known by that name, not her maiden name)
