We’re not expecting, but that doesn’t keep me from daydreaming about what to name a future baby!
What would be a good little sister name for [name]James[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] ([name]Libby[/name])? I feel sort of stuck style-wise.
I’d like to include a form of [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Maureen[/name] to include a family name. Names we love (Ok, I love, let’s be honest here!) are [name]Clara[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] ([name]Nora[/name]), [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Audrey[/name] (which doesn’t quite go with our last name) and [name]Hazel[/name] (which REALLY doesn’t go with our last name!)
Any ideas how to combine these or suggestions for others? Two middle names are ok, as [name]Libby[/name] has two
[name]Hi[/name]! From your list, I like [name]Clara[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] to go with [name]James[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Secondly, I like [name]Violet[/name] [name]Maureen[/name].
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Nora[/name] [name]Maureen[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] ([name]Libby[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name] is delightful!)
Is the clash with [name]Audrey[/name] one that [name]Audra[/name]/[name]Audrina[/name] could avoid?
[name]How[/name] much are you willing to bend [name]Margaret[/name]? [name]Megan[/name] is a form of it, and [name]Megan[/name] sounds like an intermediate step between [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Maureen[/name] to me? [name]Margot[/name]/[name]Margaux[/name] is also cute.
[name]Maureen[/name] as far as forms - every form of [name]Mary[/name]? That’s a lot of names! [name]Molly[/name]? Still maintains some Irish feel.
[name]Mae[/name] was historically used for both [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Mary[/name], as was [name]Mamie[/name]. I think [name]Mae[/name] ages better, if you’re using it as a standalone.
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name] would appeal to me, and it isn’t too uncommon or flimsy to stand up to [name]James[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I wouldn’t want to go very odd for a third there.
I really think [name]Margaret[/name] as a first name would be great here. [name]James[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] is very natural.
I happen to like [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Maureen[/name] although I know not everyone would.
[name]Do[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] or [name]Hazel[/name] work as middles? [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] are both nice.
From your list, I think [name]Clara[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Audrey[/name] all fit well with [name]James[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]Eleanor[/name] does in terms of style but I dont’ like the same beginning as [name]Elizabeth[/name].
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] Mareen
[name]Nora[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] (but I know it might not go with your LN).
Other names that work well with [name]James[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Margot[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Greta[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] (such a classic, and I think [name]Mary[/name] nods to [name]Maureen[/name])
[name]Florence[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Frances[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Laura[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Maureen[/name]
[name]Eve[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] (I think [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are OK together despite first initial)
[name]Abigail[/name] [name]Maureen[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Maureen[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Maureen[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Maureen[/name] (same as [name]Eve[/name])
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Maureen[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Margot[/name]/[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Greta[/name]/[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name] [name]Margot[/name]
[name]Virginia[/name] [name]Margot[/name]/[name]Virginia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] (I think [name]James[/name] and [name]Julia[/name] are fine together)
I’m sure there are more but this is a start! Good luck!
[name]Eleanor[/name] is too close to [name]Elizabeth[/name], and [name]Violet[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] is too sing-songy and rhymes. [name]Alice[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] would fit nicely with [name]James[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name].
I actually really like [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Maureen[/name]…except that’s the exact name of the person we’d like to use as a namesake! Same surname, too.
Thank you for the huge list, Lots of my forgotten favourites are in there! ([name]Julia[/name], [name]Frances[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Nathalie[/name]…) I’ll run some past my husband!
I really like [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name].
I would suggest:
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] – oh this would be beautiful with [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]James[/name]!
For some reason when I looked at your other childrens names I instantly thought [name]Carter[/name]! I don’t know why? But here are some others:
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Tora[/name]
[name]Corie[/name]
[name]Maya[/name]
[name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Alannah[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]
[name]Stacey[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Ah[/name], so [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Maureen[/name] is the exact name!
What about [name]Marguerite[/name] [name]Mary[/name]? Two different forms of those names, or [name]Mary[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name]? Or even just [name]Marguerite[/name], as it takes the u and long ee sound from [name]Maureen[/name] and merges them into [name]Margaret[/name]. While [name]Marguerite[/name] is more French than [name]James[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name], and I think [name]James[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], and [name]Margaret[/name] is the more obvious sib set, I think [name]James[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], and [name]Marguerite[/name] would work just fine!
Thanks!
I worry about [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] with [name]James[/name]. I’d happily use either if it weren’t for him!
[name]Catherine[/name] is one of [name]Libby[/name]'s names: [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Anne[/name] We didn’t intend her to sound like a parade of [name]Henry[/name] VIII’s wives, but there it is!
I adore [name]Scarlett[/name] - is it too…frivolous? Trendy? To go With the other two?
Ooo [name]Philip[/name]! [name]Love[/name] [name]Philip[/name]! [name]Victoria[/name] as well
[name]Eddie[/name] was our last cat (how silly, why weren’t we thinking ahead?!) so no baby boy [name]Edward[/name], sadly
I think [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Marguerite[/name] would a lovely name to join [name]James[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]Alice[/name] would fit nicely as well.
Those are all really cute! I love having a grown-up name and a cute name for short for my kids…[name]James[/name] was always a little man, cutesy never fit him!
[name]Nathalie[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] is gorgeous. As is [name]Alice[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Elle[/name]. Girls’ names are so rich, aren’t they?
That’s quite funny, [name]Carter[/name] was a top contender for [name]James[/name]! [name]Maya[/name] is sweet - but not too little girl sweet, iike that!
Can [name]Maisie[/name] be a nickname for [name]Margaret[/name]?? I might be sold if it is! [name]James[/name], [name]Libby[/name] and [name]Maisie[/name], awww!
