We have a three year old named [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Grey[/name], and she’s getting a younger sibling. This is our girls list.
We have a hard time getting anywhere with girls names, and I don’t know how we’re ever going to pick another one.

My list:

[name]Ivy[/name] - partner thinks too [name]Beyonce[/name]/[name]Jay[/name]-Z

[name]Pearl[/name] - unsure on this, might not make it to the next round
[name]Corrine[/name] - Really really really love this one, partner doesn’t
[name]Sara[/name] - partner says way to popular
[name]Samara[/name] - sorta like [name]Sara[/name] but less popular
[name]Alice[/name] - love love love but partner hates*
[name]Phoebe[/name] - I prefer this, partner prefers [name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Delphine[/name] - like [name]Delphi[/name] a lot

[name]Juno[/name] - I just think of the movie, so does she. She likes it because of the movie

[name]Simone[/name] - I like [name]Simon[/name] a lot better than [name]Simone[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name] - [name]Daffy[/name] duck is all I think of

[name]Annabel[/name] - like it because of [name]Edgar[/name] [name]Allan[/name] [name]Poe[/name], but wouldn’t want her to go by [name]Annie[/name]/[name]Anna[/name] or [name]Belle[/name]/[name]Bella[/name]

I think your list is more campatible with [name]Miriam[/name]. I really like the names [name]Willa[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Corrine[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] to go with [name]Miriam[/name]. I don’t think any of the other list fits as well but I do like [name]Bryony[/name] and [name]Athena[/name]. Though they don’t sound so much the same, I think [name]Athena[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] are very strong sounding girls names so they go together for me that way.

I adore your list.

I think that [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Pheobe[/name] fit in with [name]Miriam[/name] perfectly. They are both totally recognizable names that are not too popular.

I love [name]Delphine[/name] and [name]Samara[/name]; they have a more “exotic” feel when paired with [name]Miriam[/name] compared to your other choices.

I see [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] becoming quite popular in the next few years. I love both, but not with [name]Miriam[/name] as a sister.

[name]Sara[/name] and [name]Judith[/name] work well with [name]Miriam[/name] since they are all biblical names, but are not as exciting as your other choices. I would also avoid using a second biblical name if you are not religious.

My vote is for [name]Alice[/name], but here are a few recommendations.

[name]Cassia[/name], [name]Naomi[/name], [name]Seren[/name], and [name]Amara[/name] have all been ruled out for various reasons.

@zinnia [name]Athena[/name] is growing on me, as is [name]Juno[/name], but I still prefer [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Corinne[/name]. I think we have to rule out [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Pearl[/name], she’s not budging on them.

@blade [name]Corinna[/name] makes [name]Corinne[/name] lose all its appeal for me, not sure why :confused:
We’re thinking about nixing the more biblical names, as we don’t want a theme on our hands, so [name]Sarai[/name] is a definite no, and [name]Judith[/name] and [name]Sara[/name] might be out. My partner is absolutely against using exotic versions of names, says it seems pretentious. I really like [name]Sidony[/name]!

My partner’s family is heavily Jewish, and [name]Miriam[/name] was sort of a nod towards that, and my entire family is from [name]France[/name], we grew up speaking French at home, so I think it would be a nice touch to have a french name. [name]Delphine[/name] is one of the only ones I like that hasn’t been used yet.

[name]Cora[/name]: This would probably be a nickname for a [name]Corinne[/name], but could be used on its own… we’ll see on this
[name]Clara[/name]: can never decide how to say this, and that puts me off of it a bit.

I like umlauts, but I honestly couldn’t figure out how to do it, so I figure I’d be setting her up for that frustration. I think it’d be simpler to leave it off.

Well, she could always leave off the umlaut when typing her name, and just keep it as an optional garnish for special occasions or hand-written letters. There is power in an umlaut!

I agree that [name]Corinne[/name] is a real winner. Have you considered a hyphenated name, like [name]Corinne[/name]-[name]Selene[/name] or [name]Anais[/name]-[name]Athene[/name] as a compromise?

I might also suggest [name]Martine[/name], [name]Helene[/name], and [name]Lydia[/name].

From your list I really love [name]Alice[/name]. I think [name]Alice[/name] pairs perfectly with [name]Miriam[/name]. My second choice would be [name]Pearl[/name]. I actually really like [name]Judith[/name] but am with you on [name]Judy[/name]. I agree that [name]Jude[/name] could work as a nickname, but also think [name]Judith[/name], in full, is totally usable.

From her list, I think [name]Athena[/name] is really nice with [name]Miriam[/name]. It’s so different in origin and background but it has the same feel as [name]Miriam[/name], imo. I’m a big fan of [name]Daphne[/name] as well.

From your shared list I love [name]Serena[/name]. I also think [name]Annabel[/name] is great with [name]Miriam[/name]. Vintage and sweet. I think [name]Temperance[/name] and [name]Serenity[/name] are both nice in theory but they’re heavy names to carry around. What if [name]Temperance[/name] is really strong-willed?
