Baby sister for Zora

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I have an 18 month old daughter named [name_f]Zora[/name_f]. We live in the UK and chose the name after being inspired by author [name_f]Zora[/name_f] [name_u]Neale[/name_u] Hurston.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the meaning and feel of the name - considering names for baby sister who is due in a few weeks that are also short, feminine and strong i.e [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Talia[/name_f] but struggling to find one me and my husband agree on. [name_f]My[/name_f] current favourite is [name_u]Aria[/name_u], but I worry that sounds too similar to [name_f]Zora[/name_f].

Other suggestions welcome! Thanks!

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_f]Ayse[/name_f] (Eye-shay), meaning life / vitality. I like that the sounds are very different but same number of letters and very feminine. [name_u]Or[/name_u] thereā€™s [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] which means circle of light round the sun or moon (ā€˜haloā€™, I guess), which is pleasing thematically with [name_f]Zora[/name_f] but the popularity of soundalike [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would cause problems I think. I also like the idea of A-Z initials. [name_u]Or[/name_u] you could go matchy with another zippy Z- name with distinct sounds, such as [name_f]Zella[/name_f] or [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]. [name_u]Cleo[/name_u] or [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] would also be good.

[name_f]Gaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]
[name_f]Clea[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Vita[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]

[name_f]Zora[/name_f] is so beautiful, what a great choice! Sadly, I do agree with you that [name_u]Aria[/name_u] is a bit too close.

I like [name_u]Aria[/name_u]! Besides the similar ending sound, I donā€™t think theyā€™re TOO similar.

Congrats on #2!

I will keep them 3 syllables or shorter! Try:

[name_f]Zora[/name_f] & [name_f]Elestren[/name_f]
[name_f]Zora[/name_f] & [name_f]Alyce[/name_f]
[name_f]Zora[/name_f] & [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Zora[/name_f] & [name_m]Faolan[/name_m]
[name_f]Zora[/name_f] & [name_f]Xena[/name_f]

[name_f]Zora[/name_f] & [name_f]Nixie[/name_f]
[name_f]Zora[/name_f] & [name_f]Sahar[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Zosia[/name_f] but if [name_u]Aria[/name_u] is too close to [name_f]Zora[/name_f], then [name_f]Zosia[/name_f] definitely is lol
Hopefully these help!

I adore this whole post! I love [name_f]Zora[/name_f], the name, and the author :purple_heart:

All the names you mentioned are incredible as well.

Other ideas (sorry for repeats!)

[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Alethea[/name_f]

[name_f]Helen[/name_f]
[name_f]Althea[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Ayse[/name_f]! The parochial part of me wants it spelt in an anglicised way - and to avoid ā€œAceā€ but itā€™s really pretty. You might like [name_f]Ayesha[/name_f] which is a mix of [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] and [name_f]Ayse[/name_f] (though I think sometimes pronounced the same as Ayse?). I like [name_u]Cleo[/name_u] and [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] too (Cleo is a great duo with [name_f]Zora[/name_f], while [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] is as strong and commanding as Zora). For some reason [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] doesnā€™t appeal - probably because itā€™s a bit too broad sounding in Aussie accent (where we say ā€œayeā€ a lot).

[name_u]Or[/name_u] else:

Zoan (Zoā€™un) - would only use a Z if last child/in principle happy to continue the Z
[name_f]Azura[/name_f] (too close?)
[name_u]Elisha[/name_u]
[name_u]Hartley[/name_u]
[name_u]Nyx[/name_u] (nn Nixie)
[name_u]Ezra[/name_u] (maybe too close)
[name_f]Etta[/name_f]
[name_f]Cyra[/name_f] (Seer-ah)
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cambrie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sian[/name_f] (Shahn)
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps!

Your girl has a beautiful name. For her sister, the first that comes to mind is grand [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]!
