Baby Sister Name Help!

So found out I’m having a baby girl after 3 boys! Very exciting! But I am having more trouble with girls names than I thought!

I am torn if the baby sister, only girl, should be a super feminine name to stand out from her 3 brothers, or should it fit in more? I don’t want to regret either route I go later…and potentially think aw man wish I picked something super girly since she’s my only girl, or feel a super girly name was too much for her personality - she may be more the quirky, cute/pretty type, with 3 bros.

Brothers names are: [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_u]Cooper[/name_u]

Some of my name ideas: [name_u]Payton[/name_u], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Reagan[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u]

[name_f]My[/name_f] style is more cute yet solid names, has personality, don’t like 80s/90s names besides maybe [name_u]Reagan[/name_u], or too trendy or popular like [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f], and not too out there for me like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]…I know [name_u]Payton[/name_u] is kinda trendy but it doesn’t feel that way to me, it feels smart, preppy, pretty, futuristic? I liked [name_f]Mila[/name_f] briefly but not sure if sounds like a different language or culture MEEE-LAA…[name_f]Mia[/name_f] is kinda popular but super cute.

Give me your thoughts and names! [name_m]Ty[/name_m]!

Congratulations!

I really like [name_f]Mila[/name_f], I also heard the name [name_f]Myla[/name_f] recently which I also thought was lovely and a nice twist on [name_f]Mila[/name_f].

The name [name_u]Reese[/name_u] also came to mind when reading your post. [name_f]My[/name_f] friend’s daughter is named [name_u]Reese[/name_u] and I think it’s so cute!

I would choose a definite feminine name without being too frilly as a unisex name may be assumed four brothers. You have chosen well with your boys’ names and my favourites on your girl’s list are [name_f]Mila[/name_f] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u]. Suggestions - [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_u]Cooper[/name_u], and…

Your boys have great names! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite from your list is [name_u]Piper[/name_u]; I like that it’s feminine enough to set it apart as a sister, but tailored enough to avoid standing out too much from your boys’ names. Plus, it just has a bright, lively energy that I love!

My second favorite would be [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. It is from “a different language or culture”–but is that a bad thing? It’s important to be sensitive about cultural appropriation, but my understanding is that that mostly applies when a name comes from a culture that is historically/currently oppressed by or in relation to yours, or when a name has significant spiritual/cultural meaning for a culture other than yours. If neither of those applies here, I see nothing negative about [name_f]Mila[/name_f] originating in a different language (or several, actually). I’m definitely not an expert on this though–just my two cents!

Other suggestions based on your list/that I think fit your criteria/fit in with your boys’ names:

Adair
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_f]Bria[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_u]Greer[/name_u]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_u]Marley[/name_u]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u]

Hi there.

Your sons’ names are quite nice. Kind of old fashioned but fresh, handsome & boyish but not too macho. I think maybe a in the middle girl name would work. Feminine, but doesn’t have to be too frilly.

Here are my thoughts on your ideas:

Payton-It does sound awfully trendy & modern to me. I also think that it’s hard to say w/that intentional ‘t’ sound, but that may just be my issue! Not my favorite w/your group of charming brothers.

Mila-This is nice, but getting really popular. And doesn’t feel classic. It has a pretty sound, but just not that interesting.

Mia-This is at least as popular as [name_f]Mila[/name_f], but I really love it more. It feel like it has more substance, which is weird since it has one less letter…I also really love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mia[/name_f]. I feel like [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is such a good balance of femininity & spunky-ness. Could work on a girly girl or a tomboy really easily.

Piper-See [name_u]Payton[/name_u]. It feels trendy & modern, & I just don’t care for the sound.

Reagan-Same here. What do you think of [name_f]Raya[/name_f] or [name_f]Rayna[/name_f]?

August-I don’t hate this for a girl, even though it’s on my long list of boy favorites. But w/three older brothers, I feel like this name would be perfect for a fourth boy. So, not my first pick personally, but it’s not terrible.

Firstly congratulations :tada::partying_face:

Personally I would go with something that is feminine (but not frilly) rather than unisex. I think a unisex name with three brothers could be mistaken for a boy which as she’s your only girl may annoy you. From your list I personally wouldn’t use [name_u]Payton[/name_u], [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] or [name_u]August[/name_u]. I think even though [name_u]Piper[/name_u] is unisex she has a feminine edge so could work but wouldn’t be my go to option. [name_f]Mila[/name_f] in my eyes is pretty but trendy something you’ve advised you want to avoid but I think [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is a good shout as despite her popularity she feels stable and not trendy. Also I think [name_f]Mia[/name_f] works with [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] & [name_u]Cooper[/name_u].

You’ve had a few suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries

Suggestions:
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Selene[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]

Hope this helped

Mila or [name_f]Mia[/name_f] feels like a better fit to me. Both are lovely!

Great feedback, thanks so much!!

I agree with everything you’re saying! This is why it’s so hard! Lol [name_f]Mia[/name_f] does feel the safest, and most lovable name. Although it is popular, there’s a reason it is!

Mia feels safer than [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. It’s easier to say too.

I also love A names for a girl, bit none are screaming at me!!

I feel like I’m falling into the popular girl names, lol, like the [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]’s, [name_f]Mia[/name_f]’s, [name_f]Lily[/name_f]…this so wasn’t me like 10 years ago with my first boy…

Mia is my favorite option for you, and for what it’s worth, I work in elementary schools and have met very few [name_f]Mia[/name_f]’s. Take a look at your state popularity chart and you might be surprised by how it differs from the national rankings!

Honestly naming is so hard!! I think [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is a great little name if you are concerned about her popularity I think [name_f]Maya[/name_f] is a rarer alternative which has a lot of the [name_f]Mia[/name_f] plus points but isn’t as popular. [name_f]Maya[/name_f] is a lovely name.

If your loving A names maybe some of these could work
[name_f]Alina[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Alba[/name_f]
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_u]Anne[/name_u]/Annie/Anna
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]

Popular names are popular for a reason!! If you really love a name but feel it’s too popular I would still run with it if you love it don’t be too worried about popularity just find a name you love.

Good luck!

From your list I think [name_u]Piper[/name_u] is the best fit. It’s more tailored to a girl but it doesn’t stand out too much or feel out of place and it compliments her brothers names. [name_u]Piper[/name_u] has a more quirky, feisty feel but I think it would definitely still suit someone with a girlier personality.

I don’t like [name_u]Reagan[/name_u], but I love [name_u]Regan[/name_u] (REE-gan). The long E makes the difference for me.

Also agree with others who mentioned [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Blair[/name_u], [name_u]Reese[/name_u], and [name_f]Paige[/name_f]. I’d add [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_u]Remi[/name_u], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], and [name_f]Elena[/name_f]. Also if you’re not totally opposed to the similarity to [name_f]Emma[/name_f], I would consider [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]. It’s its own name and I think it would go well with [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], and [name_u]Cooper[/name_u].
