[name]Hi[/name], so it took [name]FOREVER[/name] for my husband to agree to names. We went through a book with 10000000 baby names
We finally agreed on [name]Quinn[/name] for a girl and [name]Xavier[/name] for a boy. (we find out next [name]Tuesday[/name])
However, now I’m not too sure about [name]Xavier[/name]…the middle name has to be [name]Ray[/name] because it is a family name
We like fairly different names that have X’s, Q’s and Z’s but not so out of the ballpark a teacher wont be able to pronounce it
I’ve suggested [name]Zavier[/name], [name]Zaiden[/name], [name]Zeke[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Jaxson[/name], etc…but he hates them all
I like [name]Xavier[/name] a lot actually… I think you should use it. If not, I think [name]Zeke[/name] is also cute as long as you give him a formal name like Ezekial.
I like the idea of [name]Zephyr[/name]. Also [name]Zane[/name]/[name]Zayne[/name], if you haven’t thought of that already, another cool, short ‘Z’ name.
[name]Xavier[/name] [name]Ray[/name] sounds fine, but if you’re not sure about it yet, I’d maybe keep looking!
yes! we do plan on pronouncing it ex-avier
I recently found out its said two different ways, and should be spelled [name]Xzavier[/name] if I want to say it like that, but I dont like it
I really like [name]Zavier[/name], I thought it was a compromise, but he doesn’t like it…too picky
[name]Xavier[/name] [name]Zebedee[/name] [name]Ray[/name] or [name]Xavier[/name] [name]Ray[/name] [name]Zebedee[/name]. Two middles, giving you X, Y ([name]Ray[/name]) and Z. High scrabble points and a feast of buzzy wonderful sounds!
[name]Xavier[/name] is a great name! It’s my nephew’s name and I think it’s adorable and ages well. I call him my little X-[name]Man[/name] (yes, so cliche but Auntie loves it!).
I like [name]Xavier[/name], pronouned ex-avier. And its quite possible your having pre-naming jitters. [name]Trust[/name] me, with my first, we picked out [name]Lily[/name] well before she was born, and then I had a panic attack about its popularity the month before she was born and for four days after. Told by the nurse that I was just getting cold feet, I relented, named her [name]Lily[/name] and I now couldn’t imagine it any other way. The right name finds you, go with your first gut instinct and stop trying to rationalize yourself out of it.
Oh my goodness, who told you that? I work with kids and have run into a few Xaviers. Some pronounce it ex-zavier, some zay-vier and it’s never been a problem either way. I’ve never run into an [name]Xzavier[/name] and I’m glad. That spelling just looks like a trendy, made-up mess. If you like the z sound, then I would just use the zay-vier pronunciation instead and keep the [name]Xavier[/name] spelling. It just looks a lot more dignified then [name]Zavier[/name].
[name]Xavier[/name] is the correct spelling either way, I believe. There is no need to add a “z” to get the pronunciation you want. I like [name]Xavier[/name] (spelled the traditional way) the very best of your choices and I think it’s familiar enough for people to spell correctly but used rarely enough to qualify as “fairly different.” If you really want a Z name, the suggestion of [name]Zephyr[/name] is unique and interesting. [name]Zachariah[/name]/[name]Zechariah[/name] would be another option. I don’t personally love [name]Zebedee[/name], but have also heard [name]Zebulon[/name], either of which lead to the nickname [name]Zeb[/name].
The Z versus X pronounciation will vary depending on what region you are in, I’d imagine. But why sweat it? It’s not a major deal [name]IMO[/name] and you can tell those around you how to pronounce it correctly, and when you or him do introductions people will not see it on paper so will say it how you tell them to. So in reality you are talking about people seeing it in writing only perhaps doing the incorrect pronounciation. The Xz thing is just bizarre.
I [name]Love[/name] [name]Xavier[/name]! It’s one of my favorite names Some people pronounce it Za-vier and some pronounce it X-a-vier. You can’t get away from that. I believe it’s an ethnic thing. The name page here on nameberry even shows it pronounced both ways. It will be up to your family to choose and get it out there to your social and family groups. Either way is OK and it’s an awesome name!!!
