The title says it all.
Personally, I didn’t get any respect there! So sick of it! And I’m on 3 birth club boards!

We’re currently TTC #1 so I haven’t used BabyCentre and I can’t say I’ve heard good things about it if I’m honest. Why do you feel you aren’t getting respect?
Why not post any questions you have here? I’m sure some of the moms will be able to help.
There is a way to tell someone “maybe this will work” & do it with respect. I.E. “I had the same problem & this is what I did…” That to me is being respectful. The most recent incident was on one of my birth club boards. I was asking about how to make 3 carseats work side by side by side because getting a different vehicle is not an option & there’s not a 3rd row seating & all 3 kids have to be in carseats. I had mentioned that I was pretty sure that my 2yrd old could not be switch to a booster seat with a back. Oh my goodness! I got hounded with “You CAN’T put a 2yr old in a booster seat!” Did I not just say that, geez! Oh, and then when I found out that the drop side cribs had become “illegal”, I posted about that asking how is a short woman with a sleeping infant s’pose to put the baby down & keep baby sleeping without a drop side. Yes, I have one & love it! It’s the same one I used with my oldest, my middle & will still use it with the newbie. But instead of getting advice on how short women put their babies down in a non-dropside crib without them crying right away, I got bashed. “You’re a bad parent for still using a drop side crib.”
Before finding Nameberry & before finding out we were expecting a girl. I threw my name idea out there & got very disrepectful comments. The main one, “That makes your kids sound like trailer trash.” [name]How[/name] rude is that!? When I came to Nameberry & vented about the reaction I got on babycenter, I still got some negative comments BUT many were done with respect & I got just as many positive comments too.
Instead of getting ADVICE, it seems like all I get is told what I CAN’T do & how “this” makes me a bad parent.
I guess I like Babycenter for the factual information, but alot of the other people that in the “community” are not friendly at all. Mainly the [name]March[/name] 2010 board. ALOT of negativity there on alot of posts.
I get irritated with baby boards because the moms spend so much time “one-upping” each other that it barely becomes helpful for people who actually have questions. I much prefer boards that are not completely focused on parenting or if they are, they are for varied ages – like on [name]Baby[/name] Center, I have read the large families board before and would consider participating there, but I would not in my twins birthclub (Dec 2010) because of the “one-upping” and rudeness. I just think it gets complicated when everyone has babies the same age and some don’t realize that not all are exactly the same as each other! So I either swing to totally non-parenting boards, like Nameberry or [name]Christian[/name] Forums – or I’ll go super-focused for something that I support/fits my personal parenting philosophy strategy or situation like Mothering.com, Gentle [name]Christian[/name] Parenting, an extended breastfeeding board at a site like Babycenter, or MOMYs (moms of many young siblings).
Sorry you dealt with rude people there! As long as you read some information about drop cribs and why they were discontinued, I honestly think it is fine to continue to use yours! For your car seat question, I’ve seen people direct others to this board: Car Seat.Org - Carseat, Automobile & Child Passenger Safety Forums
There is also a board on babycenter specifically for car seats and many have pictures of 3 in a row with tips on what is best. Is this where you posted it already? If not, I’d try on that specific board.
I have not been to the baby center boards, but can say I do NOT recommend The Bump. I have seen these ladies be so catty and snarky to each other, I do not even want to be part of that site anymore. That is one reason I love nameberry so much, people here seem to have more class. It is very refreshing.
@ crunchymama - It was the [name]July[/name] 2012 birth club board that I posted the question on & [name]ONE[/name] kind person informed me of the carseat board. I don’t remember if I looked into that board though.
