Babysister name

[name_m]Hi[/name_m],

We are expecting a baby sister in [name_f]February[/name_f] and need some help with choosing her middle name. First name will be [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. Big sister is [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f].

Big sisters middle name is inspired by paternal grandmother (Connie), however maternal grandmothers (Randi) name is not suited as we are an norwegian/english family. Perhaps a name inspired by the meaning of her name (i.e Isabelle) could work?

Kind of like romantic/classical names, but open for all options as long as it works in both Norwegian/scandinavian and english.

Thank you :innocent:

Is there a reason why [name_f]Randi[/name_f] doesn’t work? It has previously been popular in both Norway & the US so it seems cross-cultural enough to me!

But if you just don’t love [name_f]Randi[/name_f], maybe…

[name_f]Andrine[/name_f] (Norwegian feminine form of [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] that shares a lot of sounds with Randi)

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] (has the “rand” of Randi)

[name_f]Amandine[/name_f] or [name_f]Candida[/name_f] (the “andi” of Randi)

[name_f]Raimonda[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] & Rosenda (share the R initial and distinct “nd” sound)

[name_f]Rani[/name_f], [name_f]Rini[/name_f] or [name_f]Romi[/name_f] (similar short names with an R initial and -i ending)

[name_f]Ragna[/name_f], Reinhild, [name_f]Hildred[/name_f] (similar meanings)

The english meaning of “Randy” doesnt really suit a baby girl :face_with_peeking_eye: Thank you for your tips!

Congratulations on baby girl #2 :tada:

S0fia C0nstance is gorgeous such a lovely name. Emilia is also beautiful.

I love the idea of Miranda & Rani they would be lovely.

So Randi means ‘shield-wolf’ so maybe a name with a similar meaning would work

Lupita ~ valley of the wolf
Lovella ~ Wolf
Kiki ~ she Wolf
Kelina ~ noble wolf
Lovetta ~ young wolf

Alternatively in my culture we honour loved ones by either using a name that starts with the same letter or even better starts and ends with the same letter. So some ideas to honour a Randi could be

Rani
Rumi
Remi

Or names that have a similar ending/sound to Randi these ideas could be

Riley
Rosie
Ronnie
Roxie
Rosemarie
Reggie
Ralphie
Renee
Ruthie
Rosalie
Reverie

Hope this helps

I think taking a longer form of ‘randi’ just like Connie’s longer form [name_f]Constance[/name_f] would be really sweet.

Something like…
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Amarande[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Caranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Erandi[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Verandia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Zyranda[/name_f]

But if none of those really hit the mark I’d suggest…

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Patience[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]June[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]

To go with [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] C, and more or less in order of preference:

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Lovella[/name_f] (meaning Wolf)
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (similar meaning)
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] / [name_f]Rachael[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Marnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Romy[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_m]Randolph[/name_m]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] Rudolfine

[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] are beautiful!

[name_f]My[/name_f] mom did not want her name used - she hates her name so I used the letters and made an honour name / word scramble as our daughter middle

[name_f]Randi[/name_f] could be

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Andi[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Dani[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_m]Ari[/name_m]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_m]Ira[/name_m]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Indira[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Nia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Nira[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]India[/name_f]

[name_m]Or[/name_m] use a letter R

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Rane[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Renata[/name_f] / [name_f]Renate[/name_f]

Apologies for any repeats!

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f] (similar sound and letters)

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] (similar meaning)

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Runa[/name_f] (similar letters)

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] (same initial and I think the 'advice/counsel/beloved" and ‘friend’ meanings kind of link)

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Sigrid[/name_f] (similar meaning)

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] (similar letters and Mary/Marie can mean ‘beloved’)

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Rey[/name_f] (slight similarity to meaning, same initial)

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] (similar letters)

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Amity[/name_f] (see Ruth)

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Reign[/name_f] is my suggestion

Really like [name_f]Emelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f].
