So after much deliberation, we finally decided on the boys name The0 last [name_u]June[/name_u]. I’m now faced again with picking another boys name! Surprise baby is due this [name_u]July[/name_u], and while the gender is unknown, we still need a boys name.
My daughter is, M1kaela [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] ([name_u]Mickey[/name_u])
Then [name_m]Son[/name_m], The0 [name_m]George[/name_m]
We have Emers0n [name_f]Kait[/name_f] picked for a girls name. ([name_f]Emmy[/name_f])
My last name is L0ng. And the boys middle name will be L1ndsay , which I am not a fan of, but it’s a long running family name on my husbands side.
I feel we need a fairly manly and strong first name, because the middle name is unisex, and to me a bit feminine.
Names I like but don’t love yet… or won’t ever?
[name_m]Rhett[/name_m] (sounds too abrupt being 1 syllable with last name)
[name_m]Ryker[/name_m] (looks too trendy? and the prison association, which I honestly didn’t know since I’m in [name_f]Canada[/name_f])
[name_u]Corbin[/name_u] (too hillbilly…we are farmers,but?)
[name_m]Garrett[/name_m] (will he get the nickname [name_u]Garry[/name_u]? I don’t like that)
thought about [name_u]Remi[/name_u] but it’s kind of feminine
We ruled out [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] as it’s too popular
I like [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m], [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] but my husband said no to them all
[name_m]Ryker[/name_m] [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] honestly has a nice ring to it.
I don’t think it’s “too” trendy, and it definitely brings that more masculine vibe that you want.
I honestly would not have thought of the prison at all, when I here the name I think of Commander [name_m]William[/name_m] T. [name_m]Ryker[/name_m] from [name_f]Star[/name_f] Trek: Next Generation and thst’ s a positive association to me.
I also don’t think hillbilly when I hear [name_u]Corbin[/name_u], but I’m in the States and not [name_f]Canada[/name_f] so the association might be different.
I’m gonna take a minute to look at some names you might like and make a list of suggestions!
I’m not sure where you’re getting a hillbilly association for [name_u]Corbin[/name_u]. I just get the actor [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] Bernsen, who’s definitely not a hillbilly.
And I don’t think [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] getting nicknamed [name_u]Garry[/name_u] is a thing you need to worry about too much – “[name_u]Garry[/name_u]” isn’t a name that’s on too many people’s radar these days, so it’s not something his classmates will be too likely to come up with on their own once he’s in school.
I definitely wouldn’t want to give a baby boy the first name [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] now, but as a middle name I think it’s still bearable.
What about using [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] as the boys name. It could be because I’m from way down under in [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand but it is used as a boys name here most often.
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] & [name_u]Everett[/name_u] also came straight to mind, like others have suggested
or perhaps:
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] nn. [name_m]Nate[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Xander[/name_m]/[name_m]Zander[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
I like the sound of both [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] and [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u]. You could use [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] as a NN for [name_m]Garrett[/name_m], which would be a way of avoiding any “hey this person doesn’t have a NN let’s call him [name_u]Garry[/name_u]” stuff. Though [name_u]Gary[/name_u] is so out of date nowadays that I can’t see many (if any) people using it.
Re [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] - that seems to be the spelling mostly used by the girls. [name_u]Lindsey[/name_u] feels much more masculine to me, similar to the [name_u]Lesley[/name_u] / [name_u]Leslie[/name_u] thing. But most of your names make it feel more male anyway.
My favourite is definitely [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u], which sounds very strong, cool, and handsome. I think [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] really sets [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] off, and he sounds fine with your surname, especially as the hard T sounds in [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] are balanced by the gentler L and -ng sounds.
Thanks, I’m seeing now [name_u]Garry[/name_u] is off peoples radar so shouldn’t be a problem. Hah also our last name is “[name_m]Long[/name_m]” so while I do love the name [name_m]Miles[/name_m], it’s unfortunately unusable.
Thank you, I’m starting feel that way about [name_m]Ryker[/name_m] as well.
I also love [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] but my nephew, who we are close with, is [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and is always called [name_m]Ben[/name_m]. So it’s bit too close.
Thank you very much! [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] is definitely my husbands favourite, so he will be glad you said that! It’s growing on me as well, as long as it’s okay that it’s one syllable like our last name?
Unfortunately “[name_u]Lindsay[/name_u]” is just the way all the men on my husbands dads side have spelled it. Since it’s a middle I’m not too worried about it.
I love love love [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_f]Kait[/name_f]. [name_f]Kait[/name_f]/ [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is one of my favorite short but sweet middles that I probably won’t use because my name is [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and I feel like that’s weird! But [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_f]Kait[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful.
So for the boy names, I like [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] (I don’t think it’s too short with the last name, I think it works well), [name_u]Corbin[/name_u], and [name_m]Garrett[/name_m]. I don’t think he’ll get the nickname [name_u]Garry[/name_u], but you could actually call him Rett/[name_m]Rhett[/name_m] instead if you wanted to avoid that.
