My DH and I can never agree easily on boy names I was pushing for [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] to be [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]'s little brother, but DH just can’t find the love. Almost every name we discuss (and we’ve gone through over 100) he deems either “too common/dull” ([name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m]), “too out there” ([name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_m]Declan[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], etc). Obviously he has a rather narrow view of “out there!”
Out of the 100+ we discussed, there were 7 that were “just right” but none that he is sure he absolutely loves:
Favorites? Thoughts on these? I like all of them, though I’m not crazy about having a [name_m]Jr[/name_m] (I do love [name_m]Simon[/name_m] as a middle name though). It really threw me for a loop that he likes [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]! I’ve never really gotten into it, but I’m warming up to it more and more. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]…but I know he would end up “[name_m]Ben[/name_m]” and I just can’t decide if I’m ok with that. [name_m]Silas[/name_m] seems too close to [name_m]Simon[/name_m] to me…not sure about [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]…looking forward to hearing your opinions!
I think [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u] sound wonderful together. [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] are very handsome combos.
I agree that [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] sound lovely together. Personally [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is my favorite combination. I also adore [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] as a first name, but maybe use a nickname, (Bass), when he’s growing up as [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is rather a heavy name to bear.
I’ve never been able to understand the appeal of [name_m]Silas[/name_m] because I really dislike the sound of it
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is great and goes well with [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] but the only Sebastians I’ve know have gone by [name_m]Seb[/name_m] which, personally, I can’t stand
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] I love but I’m also not that keen on the nn [name_m]Ben[/name_m], what about nn [name_m]Benji[/name_m]?
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] I think sounds good with [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] and is a great name
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is also nice, I don’t think you could go wrong with [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] or [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], they are all lovely
I am also not a fan of Juniors, have you considered anything similar to Simon in meaning/sound? The only one I can think of is [name_m]Simeon[/name_m] but it’s so similar to [name_m]Simon[/name_m] that you may as well just go with [name_m]Simon[/name_m]! I’m not sure [name_m]Simon[/name_m] flows that well with any of your favourite names but my favourite is probably [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] [name_m]Simon[/name_m] or [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Simon[/name_m]

I have a [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and we’d considered the name [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] for our third little boy [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] goes by [name_m]Ben[/name_m] (or, now while he is little, [name_m]Benny[/name_m]) and we like the nickname so it wasn’t an issue for us. I agree that it would be difficult to avoid [name_m]Ben[/name_m]. However, a friend of mine has a teenage [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] who goes by [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], and has never gone by [name_m]Ben[/name_m], so that’s an option.
I like [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] with [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], as well.

[name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] would be my #1 pick for a little brother to [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]. So handsome, and it would age well!
