I would also like the combo [name]Kalida[/name] [name]Louise[/name]- to me [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Louise[/name] is a bit “L” heavy.
I liked [name]Taisie[/name]- but prefer it as [name]Taisie[/name] [name]Louise[/name].

Especially as your other DD has a ‘classic’ MN, I think follow that model again.

I voted for [name]Kalila[/name], but I also love [name]Olwen[/name]; they just feel very different from one another. What about [name]Kalinda[/name]?

I voted for [name]Olwen[/name] [name]Louise[/name], but I think [name]Tindra[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] is equally beautiful. [name]Astrid[/name] [name]Louise[/name] is lovely as well.

[name]Tindra[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] is enchanting, but I voted for [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Louise[/name]. Liked the ring of it.

I love [name]Kalila[/name] and [name]Tindra[/name]! I think [name]Kalila[/name] and [name]Indira[/name] would make a beautiful sibset - could I suggest [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] or [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Helen[/name], though? I like [name]Louise[/name] but I feel like it’s very L heavy with [name]Kalila[/name].

I like [name]Astrid[/name] best, but also really like [name]Tindra[/name] and [name]Olwen[/name].

I think [name]Tindra[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] is really sweet as a sister to [name]Indira[/name]. They share sounds, but have very different feelings. [name]Indira[/name] is earthy, [name]Tindra[/name] is twinkly-frosty. And [name]Daisy[/name] is irresistible.

I have never heard of [name]Kalida[/name] but it does sound pretty, so I looked up the meaning and it means ‘servant of [name]Kali[/name]’, I have never heard of [name]Kali[/name], so I looked up [name]Kali[/name] and this is what is said, [name]Kali[/name], Sanskrit: “She Who Is [name]Black[/name]” or “She Who is Death”) [name]Kali[/name] in Hinduism, goddess of time, doomsday, and death.

So, I was alarmed at finding out this meaning and felt that you may be too hence sharing my research with you.

None of the names are jumping out at me but I think [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Louise[/name] suits the style of [name]Indira[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] quite well.

I love [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Louise[/name] or [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Helen[/name] or [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Daisy[/name].

I think [name]Kalila[/name] and [name]Indira[/name] make a beautiful sib set.

[name]How[/name] are you pronouncing [name]Kalila[/name]? I am pronouncing it Kuh-lie-la but I am wondering on your pronunciation…

I think selecting a Sanskrit-derived name for [name]Indira[/name]'s sister is necessary; otherwise it makes her name look odd rather than intriguing. However you can’t be too matchy. [name]Shanti[/name], for example, is the ultimate hippie name-- a Sanskrit word that many know from yoga only. It was bestowed all too frequently in the 70s by anti-war activists such that it’s now kind of a caricature.

That leaves [name]Darsha[/name], [name]Kalila[/name], Mahima and [name]Kalida[/name]. I agree with rollo-- I would strike mention of [name]Kali[/name], goddess of chaos and destructioon, from your list especially as you said meaning is important to you.

Mahima has a beautiful meaning, but as it ends with A it doesn’t pair well with [name]Anne[/name]. I would select Mahima [name]Louise[/name]. (Incidentally, as [name]Kalila[/name] is on your list you might me looking at Arabic names too – there is a coincidental double-etymology with Arabic in the form of maa hima: “with wisdom.”)

I quite like [name]Darsha[/name]. It too has a good meaning, and is close to the Western names [name]Marsha[/name] and [name]Daria[/name]. [name]Darsha[/name] [name]Louise[/name] is lovely.

[name]Kalila[/name] is Arabic, not Sanskrit, if that’s a factor. I think it could still pair well with sister [name]Indira[/name]. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound particularly good with any of your middles-- they either start with A or L (I don’t like the jarring, disconsonant nature of [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Daisy[/name]).

My vote, therefore, is for [name]Darsha[/name] [name]Louise[/name]. I think it matches perfectly with [name]Indira[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] without being matchy-matchy; both are allowed to shine and neither is made to look odd or out of place.

That is interesting, I checked on a few websites and [name]Kalida[/name] was a feminine form of [name]Khalid[/name], meaning eterna in Arabic. That was the association with the name we were going for. Thanks for the info. [name]Kali[/name] is the goddess of power, life and death, and ultimately mother of the universe in Hindu. [name]Kali[/name] would only be a nickname, but we will give this some more thought. Thanks for your input.

I am pronouncing it with three syllables, just as you posted.

Wow, these are some great names. Yes, [name]Anjali[/name], [name]Vashti[/name] and Cosmina are also in the running, but I couldn’t include them in the poll because only ten choices could be listed. I have [name]Anjali[/name] [name]Helen[/name], [name]Vashti[/name] [name]Helen[/name], and Cosmina [name]Helen[/name] on my list.

The name Kalida, pronounced with a normal English K sound, is Sanskrit, meaning ‘servant of Kali.’ If you wish to feminize Khalid-- which is a fine name, though explicitly Muslim-- it’s Khalida, and the starting sound is the guttural Arabic ‘khgh’ that rather sounds like someone clearing their throat. The vowels are different too-- in Sanskrit the I is an eeeee sound (stressed: ka-LEE-dah) whereas in Arabic, it’s a short ‘ih,’ as in ‘lid.’ stressed: KHGHA-lid-uh.

Anjali would be lovely. Vashti is Persian/Jewish and Cosmina is Greek, if that matters. You might also like Ananda and Jyoti.

Edit: Kalila should be pronounced ka-LEEL-luh. No long I; accent on the second syllable.

[name]Add[/name] a vote for [name]Tindra[/name] [name]Daisy[/name]. It was my favorite, but I didn’t notice my check mark for it failed to register before I clicked to vote.

We were looking at [name]Kalila[/name] [name]Louise[/name] because of the meaning of beloved warrior and because of the nickname Lilu.

[name]Astrid[/name] [name]Louise[/name] is beautiful.

[name]Just[/name] FYI, [name]Khalila[/name]/ [name]Khalil[/name] mean ‘beloved,’ nothing to do with warriors.

[name]Edit[/name]-- sorry- I see you meant the two together!
